Five Wii Games That Deserve a Digital Re-Release On Wii U

From theGeekCulture.com feature article:

"Yesterday's Nintendo Direct delivered plenty of bombshells, from the introduction of the forthcoming New Nintendo 3DS to the release month for the forthcoming Splatoon. However, one treat that fans couldn't get enough of was the ability to download Wii hits directly to the Wii U, starting with yesterday's release of Super Mario Galaxy 2 and continuing later in the month with Punch-Out!! and Metroid Prime Trilogy.

But why stop there? There's plenty of room for more games to be released, and we have five selections that would fit right at home on the Wii U – even if they do require a Wii remote and possibly a Nunchuk to play them. Hey, sometimes you just want the old Wii feeling back, y'know?:

Why not release some GameCube games. For gosh sakes the WiiU plays Wii games!

The 10th Rider3802d ago

There's quite a few unappreciated games that came out for Wii...Excitetrucks, Excitebikes, Wii Sports Resort, Zak and Wiki, Okami, Donkey Kong Jungle Beat (new play control,) Boom Blox, Little King's Story, Super Paper Mario, No More Heroes, Madworld, Rhythm Heaven, A Boy and His Blob, Warioland: Shake It, De Blob, Klonoa, Truama team, Red Steel 2, Mario Strikers Charged, Sky Crawlers, Sonic Colours (one of the best Sonic games in recent years, though that's not saying much,) Battalion Wars 2, Need for Speed Nitro, Deadly Creatures, Endless Ocean...In addition to the titles already announced, some I'm sure I've forgotten, and the titles in the article.

Despite it's poor reputation nowadays, after the price dropped down the Wii wasn't a bad little side console to own. A lot of the better games never received much attention or many sales. A shame, really.

Unfortunately I doubt anything that isn't published by Nintendo will grace the Wii U's eShop. Wouldn't matter much to me, anyway...I've gone through during used game sales and bought anything that looked worthwhile, lol.

Xenoblade is never gonna happen no matter how much people want it. It's coming on the new 3DS, there is no way they're gonna give you a cheaper version on the WiiU Eshop.

Zelda Skyward Sword not only doesn't deserve to be on VC, it should stay buried.

higgins783802d ago (Edited 3802d ago )

Blasphemy! Skyward Sword was a revelation, reason alone for buying a Wii, truly - particularly after the great game but not great Zelda, Twilight Princess, the first time I remember Nintendo treading water with the series. Actually I'm hugely disappointed not to see Zelda U not carrying on from Skyward Sword in the implementation of Motion Plus, for me a game changer and a much needed boost, akin to Resident Evil 4's release for the series. As for Wii releases for the Wii U I agree with previous sentiments, the Wii U plays Wii games already - beautifully. Why not instead concentrate on bringing in Gamecube games, particularly the rarer ones.

contradictory3802d ago

you're disappointed there's no motion controls in Zelda U!? Do you just want to see the world burn or something?!?! my apologies, it's just that literally everyone i know that has played SS said that the motion controls sucked in unison...

I liked it in some parts but overall felt it wasn't necessary... i liked aiming projectile weapons with the wiimote but the sword swinging....ehh...

higgins783802d ago

@contradictory

I wonder when you say "literary everyone I know" exactly how many people that is and strange all should share your opinion, just if you don't take my word for it then the perhaps the numerous amounts of reviews (critical) which scored the game 'perfect' marks. Not only did the controls work flawlessly 99.9% of the time they also brought a more considered approach to combat and puzzles - less button mashing and more thinking.

my favorite series of all time now, Xc3 was top tier

Zeldafan64255d ago

I've got about 1500 hours into all 4 Xenoblade games. It's now tied with Zelda as my favorite series. We need a Xenoblade Warriors game.

Best JRPG series of the last 5 years imo

repsahj629d ago

I agree 100%. My top JRPG so far, together with Baldurs Gate 3 and FF16.

autobotdan629d ago (Edited 629d ago )

There is no together at the top. There is only one top jrpg series. Xenoblade Chronicles series is alone at the top

raWfodog628d ago (Edited 628d ago )

I like the Xenoblades series but my ‘top’ series would be either the Trails series or Persona series. Just too many good games for me to just pick one series though, so I say play them all lol.

autobotdan628d ago

You are hereby excommunicated the church of Xenoblade Chronocology

CappyBlack628d ago

I'm not huge into JRPGs, but my favorite is easily the Persona series. It's all opinion though. Xenoblade is a great series.

repsahj629d ago
