From theGeekCulture.com feature article:
"Yesterday's Nintendo Direct delivered plenty of bombshells, from the introduction of the forthcoming New Nintendo 3DS to the release month for the forthcoming Splatoon. However, one treat that fans couldn't get enough of was the ability to download Wii hits directly to the Wii U, starting with yesterday's release of Super Mario Galaxy 2 and continuing later in the month with Punch-Out!! and Metroid Prime Trilogy.
But why stop there? There's plenty of room for more games to be released, and we have five selections that would fit right at home on the Wii U – even if they do require a Wii remote and possibly a Nunchuk to play them. Hey, sometimes you just want the old Wii feeling back, y'know?:
In a new financial presentation, Nintendo highlights Xenoblade Chronicles as one of several series seeing "dramatic sales growth on Nintendo Switch," joining Kirby, Pikmin, and Metroid. Compared to 1.41 million copies on 3DS and Wii U, Xenoblade Chronicles has collectively sold 7.17 million copies on Switch between Xenoblade Chronicles 2, 3, and Definitive Edition.
I have bought every game no matter the system. Hopefully the Switch 2 is powerful enough to give this world the detail it deserves
Nintendo has now published a special anniversary video celebrating 25 years of Monolith Soft. The developer has also opened a special 25th anniversary webpage featuring multiple commemorative wallpapers as well as a special message from Representative Director Hirohide Sugiura.
I've got about 1500 hours into all 4 Xenoblade games. It's now tied with Zelda as my favorite series. We need a Xenoblade Warriors game.
Xenoblade Chronicles composer Kenji Hiramatsu reflects on his work and feels that it's "time for a fresh start."
Why not release some GameCube games. For gosh sakes the WiiU plays Wii games!
There's quite a few unappreciated games that came out for Wii...Excitetrucks, Excitebikes, Wii Sports Resort, Zak and Wiki, Okami, Donkey Kong Jungle Beat (new play control,) Boom Blox, Little King's Story, Super Paper Mario, No More Heroes, Madworld, Rhythm Heaven, A Boy and His Blob, Warioland: Shake It, De Blob, Klonoa, Truama team, Red Steel 2, Mario Strikers Charged, Sky Crawlers, Sonic Colours (one of the best Sonic games in recent years, though that's not saying much,) Battalion Wars 2, Need for Speed Nitro, Deadly Creatures, Endless Ocean...In addition to the titles already announced, some I'm sure I've forgotten, and the titles in the article.
Despite it's poor reputation nowadays, after the price dropped down the Wii wasn't a bad little side console to own. A lot of the better games never received much attention or many sales. A shame, really.
Unfortunately I doubt anything that isn't published by Nintendo will grace the Wii U's eShop. Wouldn't matter much to me, anyway...I've gone through during used game sales and bought anything that looked worthwhile, lol.
Xenoblade is never gonna happen no matter how much people want it. It's coming on the new 3DS, there is no way they're gonna give you a cheaper version on the WiiU Eshop.
Zelda Skyward Sword not only doesn't deserve to be on VC, it should stay buried.
@contradictory
I wonder when you say "literary everyone I know" exactly how many people that is and strange all should share your opinion, just if you don't take my word for it then the perhaps the numerous amounts of reviews (critical) which scored the game 'perfect' marks. Not only did the controls work flawlessly 99.9% of the time they also brought a more considered approach to combat and puzzles - less button mashing and more thinking.
