Dying Light Gameplay: Looking for Trouble

Dying Light can be a very challenging game. To prove this, GeekParty's Tim Evans recorded himself as he went looking for a fight.

This is the first time ever, in all my years of gaming, that i am not going to purchase a game because of a dreadful on-screen hud.

This game looks like it will be top notch, but for me the immersion is utterly destroyed by the appallingly distracting interface in the centre of the screen. Garish orange power bars smack dab in your field of vision every time you whack a zombie, as well as constant text, explaining your current weapons state as well as mission objectives obscuring the centre of the screen, all this does, is jarringly pull me out of this world that the designers have painstakingly crafted.

If the developers perhaps give the option, to either remove elements of the hud, or maybe place it to the side of the screen, then i may reconsider a purchase.

Yeah designers these days all treat us like we are all imbeciles. They think everyone needs hand holding constantly. Honestly if we were that dumb we wouldn't play games, we would be drooling and staring at a blank wall.

I am now playing Dragon Age and they have this HUGE annoying banner taking up the upper right quarter of the screen telling me what to do. They then have this big useless transparency effect (I guess that is supposed to be "artistic" or something?)extending from there ruining even more of the screen. I mean really? Why couldn't this be on the menu or map screen, so if you had a sudden lapse of amnesia you could flip there quickly to remind you.

What is WRONG with people, especially these supposed "professionals"?

Keep in mind that this release is still a beta release from month month back. Maciej told on ask.fm that the stamina bar and XP is much much polished now.

So a game is hard for someone who doesn't even know how to play the game properly. Wow! Such a surprise! /s

Really want this to actually be good. But I can't get hyped cuz of Dead Island. But maybe they'll redeem themselves.

Nobody bought it for an obvious reason.

Wtf did this edition come with ? A real helicopter and a real zombie virus ?

For one lucky person willing to spend $386,000, the My Apocalypse Edition of Dying Light promised a staggering collection. It included the buyer’s face in the game, a human-sized ‘Volatile’ statue, and parkour lessons with a freerunning team. It also came with night vision goggles, an all-expenses paid round trip to Techland’s offices, and four signed copies of the game. Oh, and it also came with a custom-built, ‘zombie-proof’ survival shelter.

LOL but it was a stunt from the team:
‘It was a PR stunt and got a lot of media attention for its wild and over-the-top nature, it was designed to generate buzz around the game’s release. It did a great job of getting the game noticed, though! But nobody purchased it – thankfully, I guess!’

I finally beat DL2 this past weekend. I’ll pick up the Beast for sure.

It got a lot of shit from fans more not being as scary at night on release. I was in that boat. But once I gave it a fair shot I really loved it. The movement was so much more expressive to me. I enjoyed the story too.... for the most part. Was my game of the year when it came out. With all the updates for darker nights and all that, it's even better. I feel almost exactly the same about stalker 2 right now. The erojank games are scratching my itch.
