Assassin's Creed Unity: Dead Kings DLC Review | IGN

IGN:
"The Dead Kings DLC takes Assassin’s Creed: Unity somewhere the series has rarely gone before: underneath the streets as well as above them. Arno’s adventure in the dark and sometimes disorienting catacombs beneath Franciade changes up the established AC formula and provides some excellent opportunities for stealth, though Ubisoft once again fails to prop it up with a solid narrative.

What most surprised me about this first DLC pack (other than its apologetic price tag of $0) is the sheer size of it. I'm not only referring to the scope and scale of the new city of Franciade (modern-day Saint-Denis), but also to how densely packed its streets, rooftops, graveyards, and catacombs are with new missions, activities, and collectibles."

Finished it last night and I liked it, couple of the puzzles got me thinking, nice atmosphere, map is quite small though.

Well, according to IGN (or was it gamespot) it's about a quarter of the size of the full game, which seems quite large to me for free DLC. I haven't played it yet though.

I couldn't bring myself to even get half way through unity. The game's ridiculously outdated and wonky (i'm being kind here) mechanics make traversing and stealth a complete pain. The enemy AI is horrible and very robotic, especially during stealth.

They stick to tight patterns and if they spot you, you can just hide behind the corner until they reset back into their standard pattern. If you kill a guard, another guard will just walk up and look at the corpse and his robotic brain will be reset into his pattern again a few seconds later. With a large open world, side missions where you have to take out a few guards, are terribly placed/designed. This is mostly due to the incredibly poor and unresponsive climbing mechanics. This makes for a frustrating and broken stealth experience. I do kind of like the rpg elements though.

It has a massive open world with a lot to do, but there are too many people on screen and arguably far too mnay small side missions. This is not a positive, but a gimmick (waste of time, could have focused more on main story and gameplay problems). Alex amancio and his team did not address the fundamental problems that has plagued this series from the beginning, even though the game was apparently "built from the ground up" for three years for "next gen".

I'm very disappointed by this franchise after i gave it one more chance.

Not gonna lie last AC I played the was the first one, it was super repetitive, I gave ACU a chance and I like it.

The graphics is amazing and I can't wait for them to actually take advantage of it. Wish it has less low poly.

But damn this game looks so real sometime... The lighting is what I like. Imma beat the game tonight!

Engine should be use on different games.
