I am going to spend 100s of hours in this masterpiece. Fulton everything for the win!

" Skyrim looks like an afternoon playpen next to it. It’s massive. It’s absolutely massive in what you can do."

This is going to be crazy. Kojima san is the best troll dev in the industry. I can't wait for Silent hills.

I can't believe we almost didn't get MGS1 back when i was younger. So glad we bought it. I wonder what my life would have been without this gaming masterpiece. I am really glad we have people like Kojima in the industry.

Yi-Long3383d ago

I'm still hoping we'll get the option for the Japanese voices on the console-versions, so I can buy and enjoy this on PS4.

If not, I'll probably wait for a PC-version, if that does offer that option, like Ground Zeroes.

Feralkitsune3383d ago

It seems weird to even want JPN voices in a series like Metal Gear. It's so westernized it would be strange to hear Japanese coming from everyone.

Yi-Long3383d ago

It's a Japanese game, made by Japanese studio, in Japan, written by a Japanese Kojima, who doesn't speak a word of English.

I don't think it's so weird to prefer a movie, a tv-show, a cartoon, a game, or whatever, in it's original language.

blackbeld3383d ago

Oh Yeah.. Japanese voice or not, this game I must buy.

DarkOcelet3383d ago

Japanese original VA is not always the best look for instance at Dragon Ball Z. It was fkn horrible lol. One Piece and Naruto were amazing in their orginal VA too. And offcourse MGSV Japanese VA will be phenomenal too.

zeuanimals3383d ago (Edited 3383d ago )

MGSV is being worked on directly with Western actors like Kiefer Sutherland and Troy Baker for a reason. Hell, David Hayter is considered the voice of Solid Snake even for Kojima. And he can speak English, he's just not very good at it, he can understand it pretty well though.

The Silent Hill series was originally developed by Japanese devs only (recent entries have been developed by western teams), but the series was always very good at portraying American characters and a small American town. They didn't go overboard with the American-ness like some anime do by making the Americans fat, loud, and prone to violence. The writing and VA was even very good for the Western releases, even as far back as the first entry in the 90s. And there was nothing especially "Japanese" about the series, besides the joke endings.

BiggerBoss3383d ago

Although the game is Japanese, Kiefer and Troy Baker etc are doing motion capture so it doesn't matter.

I actually can't wait to see how Kiefer handles being Snake.

Besides, I don't speak Japanese so Id rather listen to the voices than read subtitles.

On the topic of the size, I didn't expect for it to be that big, looks like MGSV will exceed my expectations.:)

cooksauce3383d ago

its a very westernized game, JPN voicing would be very odd

Yi-Long3383d ago

I find it amazing that people even oppose the idea of the OPTION for getting the original voices in the game.

And those who say the game is set in a western world with western characters: Please be consistent with that, and demand a show like Vikings to only have Scandinavian languages, or to play Assassin's Creed 2 in Italian, or AC4 in French, etc etc.

Kumomeme3383d ago

i dont worry much for this game, since metal gear is one of few japanese title that had very good english voice over aside from kingdom hearts and persona
other than that, like recent ffxv, really suck

InactiveUser3383d ago (Edited 3383d ago )

I'm personally just having worries about the balloons shooting people up into the air.. how that doesn't alert other enemies.. and similar game 'features' like that, that don't seem all that realistic.

I didn't like that about Peace Walker either, which is one reason I couldn't find the urge to play it among other reasons. So admittedly, I haven't played with the 'balloons shooting people into the air to capture them and have them join your base' feature, but it still doesn't look appealing to me.

And disclosure before blind 'I'm just a hater' disagrees; I platinumed MGS2, MGS3, MGS4, and 100%ed Ground Zeroes:
http://psnprofiles.com/JLP-...

I'm a big fan. I just think using the Fulton surface to air recovery system on every enemy is too unrealistic, again, how it wouldn't alert the other enemies; not only from people randomly flying into the air, but also the planes that need to pass overhead to pick them up..

I remember it was in Battlefield 4 too, but that was a one time occurrence, not every 30 seconds:

strauser3603383d ago

We just want Hayter back. Nothing more nothing less.

Ogygian3382d ago (Edited 3382d ago )

1). Snake is American. Almost everyone in the game is American and natively speak English. And no we do not need to fit your arbitrary standard of "consistency". Most people want to play a game in their own language; voice packs are good when they're not much extra effort and are native to the characters, but in this case, they fall down on the latter point.

2). A Japanese VP might delay release a bit and would take up many gigabytes of extra space.

Honestly, there is zero point in including the voice pack to make five people happy.

XBLSkull3382d ago

Pretty sure ARMA 3's main island of Altis clocking in at 270 square kilometers dwarfs this game in size.

hay3380d ago

Yup, I hoped for original voices with MGS4(teh powarz of blurays and everything in the universe on a single set of multilayered discs), you can't always expect the reasonable.

With all respect to Troy, why comparing it to Skyrim? A game none of people I know managed to finish due to atrocious bugfest and overwhelming boredom?
This doesn't do MGS any justice.

Gatsu3383d ago

OMFG I'm so hyped for TPP ;D and it is awesome to hear Troy say stuff like this!!!

geddesmond3382d ago

The game is huge however from what i have seen and played of ground zeros the game is a big step back from MGS4.

DarkOcelet3382d ago (Edited 3382d ago )

Ground zeroes was a small fraction of the game. There was no fulton, weapons were limited, areas was limited, no allies to help, no motherbase to build, no one to recruit. You will see how amazing this game is once you play it.

geddesmond3382d ago

Ah make no mistake I will play and buy it day one but your right, thats my main concern. I don't like the way you can only carry a certain number of weapons in ground zeros and the way camouflage works

LightDiego3383d ago

It's difficult to control the hype after articles like this, lol.

DarkOcelet3383d ago (Edited 3383d ago )

It was different to control the hype when it was announced lol. So glad he didn't reveal the name right away and made it a mystery, even though that made me hyped even more when we knew it was MGSV XD .

stragomccloud3383d ago

Apparently neither have played Xenoblade which makes all of the Elder Scroll games combined look tiny.

DarkOcelet3383d ago

Since you run like a snail in Skyrim, it feels way bigger lol but in terms of huge, Xenoblade is bigger but you dont feel it because you are really fast so you cover a huge amount of distance fast. In term of content, i really cant tell.

Magicite3383d ago

huge areas doesnt mean a thing if they are empty

Ogygian3382d ago

Biggest game ever: EVE Online. All that space...

daBUSHwhaka3383d ago

Didn't for a second think the game was this big.Happy days. This will be a masterpiece as usual.

Now we'll have to see how much the Master Collection will add to those numbers.

Number1TailzFan168d ago

Too bad it was a lazy release. They could've updated the visuals and everything. Missed opportunity.

Stanjara168d ago

...and yet, they couldn't give more respect and effort into the collection.
What a terrible company.

Minute Man 721168d ago (Edited 168d ago )

Are they counting every game?

Edit: they did

Nyxus168d ago

Yes, these are total lifetime sales of the entire series.

ApocalypseShadow168d ago

.... mostly with the help of PlayStation.

Yea I don’t get why they’re allowing old reviews to be posted here. Someone did one on Soul Reaver and I got so excited thinking there was some stealth release of an HD Remaster, but no… it’s just someone who had a slow day posted an old review…

Cacabunga184d ago

I liked the game but for me it felt somehow like a military simulator rather than a proper MGS.. i got bored of that

micdagoat19184d ago

I do wish they would remaster all the soul reavers

micdagoat19184d ago

it was done this morning though

goldwyncq184d ago

The author was in a coma for 9 years and didn't get to play the game when it released.

Chocoburger184d ago

This review arrived just in time for launch. Perfect timing!

RupeeHoarder184d ago

Amazing how bad this game looks already. We keep acting like this gen doesn't feel like an update but I think we're starting to see it.

YourMommySpoils184d ago

Looks better than Starfield, Cyberpunk and most recent games out. Still fine.

RupeeHoarder184d ago

It most certainly does not lol.

andy85184d ago

Have you player Cyberpunk since the first day? It's absolutely stunning now

1nsomniac184d ago

One of the worst games ever made. Absolute overhyped trash!

Snowb420184d ago

The gameplay was great. It was the tacked on open world and repetitive missions that messed the game up.

Shane Kim184d ago

The game started really strong in that hospital, but after a couple of hours I wondered if it was even an mgs game I was playing.

KyRo183d ago

The hospital section was the only bit that felt like a MGS game.

MGS4 was the ending for me. I totally ignore the fact 5 exists. It didn't need to exist tbh
