Sony Online Entertainment is finally releasing H1Z1 on Steam Early access on January 15th, and today they published quite a few videos of the game.

Watched the full 40 minutes and it seems even more basic than the vanilla DayZ mod.

Disappointed.

Watched a guy stream DayZ yesterday while he compared it to H1Z1. He agreed that DayZ has more stuff at the moment, but he had no doubt H1Z1 was a better playing game. Also on that subject, SOE isn't even putting multiple player models into the game yet, so I think judging it on content at this point is a little overenthusiastic.

And THAT, ladies and gentlemen is why the former has 1 bubble and the latter 9. Early access should never be viewed as a full representation of the game, unless it's DayZ and has been so for an excess of 12 months.

Uhh, but your complaint directly relates to it being in alpha and seemingly not having enough content.

Just saying man, putting the line "in before" something is just blatantly saying "I already know there's an explanation to what I have an issue with."

If you think the game will allow you to blow up a car with arrows then your making a big mistake.

Its an alpha which means that there's plenty of time to make changes before the game is released. Also the developers said that not everything is available to players in the alpha.

H1Z1 has more content in in right now than DayZ Standalone had when it first released in early access. Besides, you hear the guy say multiple times "We will be adding more stuff". Seriously though, how do you complain about a early access game not having much in it? Its EARLY ACCESS.

Anyway I like the way it's looking, can't wait to play it.

Yeah I'm hoping their experience porting Planetside 2 to PS4 will speed up the H1Z1 port process, since it uses the same engine.

Same engine, but is a totally different game. Planetside 2 is on that engine but so is Everquest NEXT and Everquest Landmark. All games that run totally different from each other.

Sucks for the DayZ devs, Sony is going to pimp H1Z1 far more and it will overshadow DayZ. I bet they regret that timed exclusive deal now.

Well, I assume it's a timed exclusive like so many indies are these days. Either way its coming to PS4 first, and Sony just happen to have their first party studio making a game that is the exact same as DayZ. It just sucks for the DayZ devs, exclusive deal or no. Close to making their console debut of a game that's had a bit of attention, and Sony goes and pulls the rug out and makes their own version, essentially destroying possible sales. We know most of the sony hardcore will get the sony exclusive version of that game and trash all over the version that will be multplat eventually. Dick move.

I've had H1Z1 added to my wishlist since it got announced on steam the other week.

Look interesting and I cannot wait to play it!

I'm not seeing what you guys are seeing. I skimmed it but this looks really bad to me. Ridiculous amount of running, didn't even seem like he was ever in danger or had an objective, and the character models are really dated, like graphics from 10 years ago.
I love the idea of it, but this is not what I imagined from what other games are able to achieve now.

I have to agree. It just seems like this game isnt doing anything new, it looks very similar to dayz. Im not saying thats necessarily a bad thing but I just feel like SOE didnt really bring anything new to the table at all.

Will defiantely give it a shot but at this point I can take it or leave it

Well, zombies actually work in this game. So, it's already got something new there over DayZ.
