Best bang for buck/watt for sure. I got an ASUS Strix 970.. passive cooled until 65degrees, it's so damn quiet compared to any other cards I've used.

Bought a 760 8 months ago so regretting it now but 970 is the obvious next choice but I refuse to replace the 760 yet after not even having it a year.

I've been gaming at 4k since early 2013 at 30hz at first, then got a 60hz last year. 3840x2160 is fantastic.

To get the needed horsepower from my titan I have spent untold hours comparing and adjusting many settings and I have concluded that the majority of settings can be turned down without noticing.

I've done this at different resolutions and frame rates and I've tested friends in radomized double blinded tests. My results are 4k at either 30 or 60 with some reduced settings always beats 1080p with full settings at 30-120fps.

Basically some of the gfx settings are useless...

4k gaming. Or really anything above 1080. There's also physics support as well.

I wonder, would it be feasible to by a single-card now and then buy a twin card to boost performance down the line (when prices have fallen)? It might be cheaper in the long-run than a full-on switch to another card. But I'm not sure how well games take advantage of dual cards (do they have to be coded specifically for it). Will I see FPS increases? Or is it really only a useful for multiple monitor support?

About to buy an MSI r9 290x to replace my crossfired 7850's. Down the line I will add another r9. I realize Geforce is lower wattage and outperforms by about 10 fps, but I really dont feel like replacing my mobo to have SLI.
