I'm worried they flooded this with useless side missions. What are we going to get out of them anyways? Maybe there is customization we have not seen but I can't think of ways getting paid rupees for side missions will help. Unless everything is extremely overpriced now. Or if the side missions are strung together to give us a milk bottle or something of that sort.

Neonridr3391d ago

I trust Nintendo when it comes to Zelda games. I am sure any side quests they implement to flesh out the world will make sense within the game.

Tctczach3391d ago

Yeah, I shouldn't doubt them. I just like guessing what the payoffs will be.

Neonridr3391d ago

oh absolutely, my mind is spinning as to what we can expect with this game. I can't wait to see more.

DryBoneKoopa853391d ago

Something cool I read was that Anouma liked how the bosses in Hyrule Warriors were not confined to any one area and could move around freely. He said that is something he would like to adapt to the new Zelda game. So expect some AMAZING boss fights within the open world.

Nevers0ft3391d ago

As long as the "useless" side missions are optional they can stuff it full of them for all I care. I'm yet to play a Zelda game where it felt like the content was an afterthought, I'm sure it'll be fine :)

SteamPowered3391d ago

Knowing Zelda games, its more likely side missions will give you more Heart Pieces or expand your wallet. I cant see there being a wide array of weapons or legendary items.

--Onilink--3391d ago

Probably some will be just for rupees or nothing in particular, but personally I wouldnt mind seeing certain staples of the Zelda franchise tied to side quests. Certain secondary items, pieces of heart, materials for upgrades (assuming the system from skyward returns), etc. Instead of just finding them in a random cave, why not have a quest attached to it?

Jdoki3391d ago

I spent more time on side quests in Skyrim than I did completing the main story arc

The idea of exploring the world and finding secrets and quests is unbelievably appealing! All Zelda games have had secret bits - this just feels like they are expanding on that.

There's hundreds of ways Nintendo could make side quests a viable part of the game and provide a huge amount of fan service.

Can't wait.

Xof3391d ago

Hopefully the side quests are more like Majora's Mask.

RyanShutup3391d ago

I'm not worried about it. Nintendo are the kings of meaningful content and all their games are polished to the point of near perfection. I doubt they'll fill it up with lame fetch quests and meaningless side missions.

FullmetalRoyale3391d ago (Edited 3391d ago )

While I of course agree that I do not want "useless" side missions, in Zelda games, particularly Majora's Mask, side quests felt just as rewarding as main quests.

That's how I hope this one is, at least. Dragon Age: Inquisition is another game in which I feel rewarded for completing side quests. It can be done, and it can be done well.

GordonKnight3391d ago

It would be cool if each amiibo opened a side mission.

gangsta_red3390d ago

I have not found any evidence from any Nintendo game that ever had a "useless" anything when it comes to gameplay or design.

If there is one thing that I can trust is Nintendo's unique ability to make a game fun no matter what they implement.

In Legend of Zelda games, everything is there for a reason...everything has it's purpose and place and most everything matters in some way.

* It's going to remain like this, except 100x more of it, which IMO is awesome.

* Playing through Wind Waker HD right now, and just seeing the amount of small details put into this game gives me hope the Wii U LoZ game will be one of the best games possibly ever created.

* I'm most excited to find and explore towns and villages and stuff.

Kumomeme3381d ago

dont compare them with bethesda 's skyrim
although anouma somehow inspire by skyrim's open world, not neccessary it gonna to fall on same pit
i trust lot of devs already learn what skyrims lack on

Awesome, and they have so much they can add since they have a whole year to do it. They might do a lot of fun side quests, secret caves, etc. I am really excited because I could just be walking, then all of a sudden I notice a wall that can be bombed and get something awesome. Cant wait for this game. So far Skyward sword is my favorite with Majoras mask my second. Let's see if this game can beat my favs.

swice3391d ago

Less than a year......

.....

!!!!

chrissx3391d ago

This game is the reason I shall buy a wii u this year. Must play!

SteamPowered3391d ago

Chris baby, there are quite a few games for the catalogue that you are missing out on. Once you do land the Wii U, hit up Mariokart, Mario 3d land, and of course SSB.

Benjaminkno3390d ago

Bayonetta is sick, and Shovel Knight is to die for.

W101 is fantastic and Rayman is superior on Nintendo. And there's Donkey Kong, Pikmin 3... It's stupid how much content they have already.

Kumomeme3381d ago

makesure to try xenoblade chronicles x
also,splatoon too

gedden73391d ago

I really feel this will be GOTY!!

Imagine a open world game with good controls, gameplay and story with very little glitches lol I Can't wait!

Xof3391d ago

I honestly can't.

But I'm hoping as hell I'll be able to by this time next year.

iNFAMOUZ13391d ago

whoa whoa goty, your reaching a little too far in the stars there cowboy

Benjaminkno3390d ago

Not really.

Zelda games are always phenomenal.

They strive for GotY, and you know it will play flawlessly.

gedden73390d ago

Reaching?? OK sure I'm sure your GOTY is GTA or COD right?? smh...

Kumomeme3381d ago

it seems someone doesnt know anything
nintendo games, especially zelda was awesome candidate for goty
did you not look past zelda games record?

randomass1713391d ago

Shot in the dark but maybe a way to get the Loftwing? In a world that big it would nice to be able to fly. :)

Honestly I really changed my mind on Fi with the remaster because they didn't make her interrupt your gameplay every 5 seconds, that drastically changed my views on her

Inverno72d ago

Technically she's in ToTK but obviously can't take any other form than the sword she was made into. Also the companion feature has been done plenty of times in Zelda, I don't think it'll add anything new. If anything should be brought back it should be the Minish.

Directionless Modern Zelda Should Return to its 3D Roots

Matt from We Game Daily writes "The Legend of Zelda series has gone in a different direction. One which, try as I have, I just can’t get on board with. Here is why I think Zelda should return to its 3D roots."

Amen! A good, tight, Zelda game with a focus on dungeons and puzzles. Let people have the new style Zelda if you gotta, but let us have the OoT style games too. That's not without precedent either, the handheld 2D Zelda's in the style of A Link to the Past etc have coexisted alongside the 3D Zelda's before

FinalFantasyFanatic103d ago

As much as I like BoTW, TotK, I need my traditional Zelda games as well, I could not endlessly play the open world Zelda games, plus it's harder to keep those fresher than the traditional games.

Eidolon103d ago (Edited 103d ago )

BotW was just as fresh to the franchise as OoT was. TokT was great but the next LoZ would have to move from that formula to be fresh again. There's only so much they can do with the hardware. I think they focused too much on making the world big instead impactful. I felt the world was sort of empty and repetitive in TotK, sure there was a lot to do but no more difference a Ubisoft game..

anast102d ago

I wouldn't worry too much. Nintendo knows what they are doing.

Ristul102d ago

Wind Waker had a perfect balance of open world and a cool, well hand-crafted design. Maybe try to keep the open world but put in effort to make more memorable story driven quests and locations.

Zelda Fan Brings Godzilla to Life in Tears of the Kingdom

A fan of The Legend of Zelda has recreated the iconic Japanese monster Godzilla in Tears of the Kingdom using the game's Zonai devices.

Knightofelemia140d ago

I like it would also be cool if some created Dragon Caesar in the game I would love to watch the two going at it.
