Report: 3DS Amiibo Reader Already Ready, Wave 4 Amiibo to Arrive in the Spring

"In a recent interview with a Nintendo representative, several new details were revealed regarding Nintendo’s upcoming Amiibo plans. First of all, those who were wondering when the fourth wave of Amiibo will be released, or even announced, they will be releasing as soon as the spring. The representative confirmed that several of the hacks/leaks we have seen in recent days are actually legitimate and 'look awesome, of course'" -- Nintendo Enthusiast.

That reader will push the amiibo sales to tremendous levels.

What characters could be in the fourth wave? Mewtwo, Falco, Pac-man, Charizard?

Neonridr3811d ago

I'd love to see a Ridley one only because it would look awesome. Obviously at this point it would have zero functionality, but it would look cool.. ;)

"The rep commented that Nintendo is aware of the problem, is not happy about it, and may do something to combat scalpers when wave 3 launches."

How about make a crap ton of each Amiibo? Take your sales results of every Amiibo already sold, take the average value, and make new Amiibo's to match it for the first shipment plus 10-30% of that value.

Miyamoto talked about releasing Amiibo cards sometime in the future, to both combat demand and have a cheaper alternative. Get ready for Pokemiibo.

It still makes ZERO sense to me that they're already discontinuing some of these. The demand is very high, scalpers are making a profit, and people can't find all the ones they want. Why? For what reason is there to discontinue an Amibo unless that particular one isn't selling? Its stupid.

Marketing. Low supply high demand. It creates a sense of urgency for the consumer.

Wow. Four waves of amiibo and still hardly any compatibility with most games.

$40 is absolutely ridiculous. $15 made sense, but you can literally get full on games for $40… what in the hell is going on?

PapaBop54d ago

$40? wtf that is insane. I got a few sometime ago and those things should be more like $15 tops for the quality of them. Nintendo going to Nintendo though, people will still pay $40 and scalpers will charge double that and idiots will still pay.
