Looking Forward To 2015: What I Hope To See In The Next Zelda Game

The Legend of Zelda Wii U is undoubtedly one of 2015's most anticipated titles. If you're a Zelda fan, you were no doubt excited to see some actual gameplay footage from the upcoming Zelda Wii U game at the recent Game Awards. Ever since that admittedly brief demonstration, the Short Pause staff have been thinking a lot about what features they would like to see in the next installment of one of their favorite game franchises.

I just want a massive open world with a ton to do, excellent gameplay, and all the challenge and charm that Zelda is known for!

3-4-53822d ago

* 10-20 Villages or Towns

* Interaction and SideQuest Storylines between these towns and people within them.

* Different Themes that may not have been featured in past LoZ games.

* Something satisfying to do once the Main Quest has been completed. Like an additional Multiplayer mode or something. As long as it doesn't take away from the Main Game.

* Each Town/Village has their own music

* Each Segment/Area of the overworld has it's own theme.

EX: Either variation of Main theme, or completely different song that plays once you enter a certain part of the overworld map.

* Minor Wind Waker like Sailing elements or some kind of carry over from that game. Even if it's only like 2-5% of the game.

* Dungeons that aren't frustrating or boring.

- Dungeons in LoZ games are my LEAST favorite part of the LoZ games, so I'd be fine with only 1-3 dungeons.

I know that ^ won't happen, so if they found a way to make them more fun that would be cool.

* Non-Ugly Dungeons. - I'm kind of sick of the dark, scary looking dungeon in EVERY VIDEO GAME.

* Why not have the dungeon be outside in the open in some way or have it take place in a beautiful environment, especially given the awesome art style.

* Tons of Side Quest and other side stuff to do so I don't have to just blast through the Main story.

* I want to take my time with this game and explore every single square foot of the game, so if they could give us stuff to hunt or search for along the way that would be cool.

* I want to stumble across surprises and hidden areas that lead to secrets.

* I want there to be some secret outdoor areas that are a bit " off the path" or hidden, like Lakes hidden in a Forest or something like that.

* A Village/ City Hidden Underneath a Small Town, that is SteamPunk / Forest inspired.

* Air Ship

Now HERE is a Zelda fan that knows what they want in a Zelda game!

Conzul3822d ago

Except for his stand on dungeons, pehaps.

phoenixwing3822d ago

Things I'd like to see:
1. No retreading of the same temple/dungeon. They have enough space to make it so you can go to multiple ones now without backtracking.
2. More cities with people in them you can talk to.
3. Engaging plot with more players involved. Not that Skyward Sword had a bad plot it's plot was a step in the right direction.
4. Ability to use game cube controller or similar game pad.
5. More side quests that aren't just mini games.
6. Hunting system would be cool like Red Dead style and just free roaming looking at the landscape.

Basically the open world and promise of side quests has me hoping this will be one of the best zelda games ever.

JimmyDM903822d ago

A hunting/crafting system could be cool. You can forge parts you scrounge from enemies into weapons and armor. Manufacture better arrows, stronger bombs, etc.

It would be cool if you could grapple or grab your opponents. Like if you're in a fight with a bunch of Dekus, you can pick one up and use him as a shield while also using his projectiles to take out the other enemies.

TheDude793822d ago

Basically, I want them to take all the best parts of Skyrim and infuse them into a Zelda game! That would lock up Game of the Year immediately :)

The Legend of Zelda Wii U E3 2011 Tech Demo recreated in Unreal Engine 4, available for download

DSOGaming writes: "Remember the Legend of Zelda Wii U tech demo that Nintendo showcased back in E3 2011? Well, Aklar_45 has recreated that tech demo in Unreal Engine 4, and has released it to the public. So yeah, while Wii U and Switch owners won't get a Zelda game looking as good as that tech demo, PC gamers can at least get a taste of it."

Would be pretty awesome to see a Zelda like this.

nitus102801d ago

I do agree but I would not be surprised if Nintendo puts out a takedown notice on the video/tech demo

lol what? We didn't even get to see anything new. Didn't know they were even present.

-Foxtrot3227d ago

How? Hardly anything new was shown off. Is this because Zelda + Nintendo

Personally I'd give it to Yooka-Laylee

wonderfulmonkeyman3227d ago (Edited 3227d ago )

Does it matter whether it was new or not?
I don't think that's how Gamescom judges what wins. Zelda got the award because it's an exciting game, and after all the hate Nintendo has gotten lately outside of BotW, I can't see the logic in equating it to "because Nintendo".XD

That said, I agree with Yooka-Laylee being deserving of an award or two as well; They've really struck gold with it.
I wonder if they'll consider a sequel soon afterwards?

The new zelda graphics have so much (unique) attention to detail, that nintendo will surely win awards (again) for best looking game ever created, my boy.

This is actually pretty cool. I can't wait until the final game is released to really explore the temple.

guywazeldatatt3233d ago

I'm wondering how much better the NX version will look. supposedly it will look better. the wii u version looked incredible; can't wait to get my hands on them both.

AJBACK2FRAG3231d ago

Nintendo already said it would be the same game. I stupidly thought this game was going to have online multiplayer because different areas were so huge! Look''s like a gorgeous way to send off the Wii U We had to wait for it but it's absolutely a love letter to Nintendo fan's.

wonderfulmonkeyman3232d ago

I wonder what the glow around the statue of the Goddess will do in the full game, when you interact with it?
I'm guessing something minor like a return to full health, but for all we know, that glow could be a cutscene trigger, or even a special trigger for restoring a small part of the memories Link has forgotten during his 100 year slumber...

guywazeldatatt3232d ago

Unfortunately I didn't interact with it as my time was short, but, just seeing it gave me chills. It was a really emotional moment for me.

wonderfulmonkeyman3232d ago

I saw them interact with it in a previous video, and all it did in the demo was pop up some text saying something akin to "The Goddess smiles upon you".
I'm sure the full game will have it do something more than just that.

quent3232d ago

Just beautiful, I hope the nx will have a cheaper launch price then the wiiu, looking to get back into the ninty games.

guywazeldatatt3232d ago

I assume you don't have a Wii U lol. I'm getting both but figure I'll have an easier time getting a review copy with the Wii U version than NX. I really cannot wait for this game!

SkippyPaccino3232d ago

I pre-ordered it on Wii-u, now just waiting to see what the nx is all about before I pull the trigger.

guywazeldatatt3232d ago

The game is worth it. Playing it at E3 was....well it was the highlight of the show for me.
