The Most Disappointing Games of 2014

Power Up Gaming writes: "Another year is coming to a close and, as always, not everything has lived up to expectations. Over the last 12 months, games disappointed us by being too short, too buggy, or simply too ordinary to measure up to the hype. After waxing lyrical about the games that made our years, a few of the more cynical members of staff here at Power Up Gaming have decided to touch on some of the games that didn’t even make our afternoons."

The biggest mistake they did with ACU was dropping the animus and curent time story to focus only on the past, that ruined the whole game experience for me :/

Rickgrimes953827d ago

I was fine with that my problem was the crashes, pop-ins, frame rate slow downs, glitches and bugs that plagued the game on release day

Master-H3827d ago

Dark Souls 2 for me, even though it is still a great game on it's own and I'm planning to pick it up again for PS4 since it comes with all the DLC. It's just that the anticipation I had for it coming from beating the first game multiple times and absolutely loving it was too big, personally.

Skizelli3827d ago

Dark Souls 2 is a solid game, but I'm in the same boat as you. It definitely wasn't as good as the previous Souls games in terms of difficulty. The bosses were pushovers. I'm hoping the PS4 release is a lot harder. The DLC is supposedly harder, too.

Skizelli3827d ago

I had a blast with Watch Dogs and Titanfall. I didn't get sucked into the Watch Dogs hype, and I went into Titanfall knowing it focused on multiplayer. Neither disappointed me.

Destiny and CoD: Advanced Warfare should be on the list.

OmegaShen3827d ago

COD-AW isn't, because it was alot better then Ghost.

An Destiny no, because there are worst games out there.

Skizelli3827d ago (Edited 3827d ago )

What isn't better than Ghosts? AW suffers from severe weapon imbalance. To make matters worse, they've only issued one balance patch since release, yet the issue still persists. The BAL-27 and AK12 dominate everything else. Ironically, they're both unlocked from the start. Even Black Ops 2 is a better game than AW. Hell, I'd even go as far as saying MW3 is better.

As for Destiny, what isn't disappointing about that game? It tries to mimic Phantasy Star Online, which wouldn't be a bad thing if it weren't for its lackluster loot system. Furthermore, only one free raid dungeon POST launch. Bungie is doing it all wrong.

OmegaShen3827d ago

You must not be to good then, because I have no problem out shooting anyone using Bal-27 and AK12.

Basement Crawlers is worst then Destiny, Driveclub. Theres alot of things worst then Destiny.

Skizelli3827d ago (Edited 3827d ago )

Ooo, the "must not be too good" card. Dude, it's CoD, not rocket science. Care to check my stats? I don't care how good you think YOU are, it doesn't change the fact that those weapons are OP.

And we're talking most disappointing games of 2014. Who cares about Basement Crawlers? lol

OmegaShen3827d ago

I recall it being a early 2014, you must not played Ghost because I recall MSBS being op.

Skizelli3827d ago

Point being that Basement Crawl wasn't a AAA title with a bunch of hype surrounding it. Destiny was.

And you're right, I didn't play Ghosts. But it doesn't take a genius to know the game was ass. It was also released in late 2013, so I'm not sure why you're even bringing it up.

>Implying there were CoD games with balanced weapons

Kombatologist3827d ago

It was never this bad. Even when people complained about OP SMGs in past games, I could still beat said SMGs with ARs and such. Those weapons were eventually nerfed, too. It's been nearly 2 months since AW was released and I have yet to see proper nerfs for the BAL-27 and AK12. If you think I'm exaggerating how OP they are, go into any lobby and count the number of people using them. I'm willing to bet they make up half the lobby, at least.

UnHoly_One3827d ago

Agreed. I loved both of those games.

Just started playing Watch Dogs again last night actually, to play the DLC. It's great so far.

Titanfall is my favorite multiplayer shooter in years.

I don't understand all the hate for those two games.

Destiny on the other hand, is the biggest letdown I've ever had in gaming history. What a terrible pile of dung that game turned out to be.

captainexplosion3827d ago

Halo MCC, Resogun on Vita and PS3 (still unplayable in NA), Drive Club, LBP3, and Destiny were all disappointments.

Do the NPCs still randomly levitate every now and then? Even years later I noticed they hadn't patched that out

Honestly I loved the PS4 ACs. I'd love next gen ports of Black Flag, Unity and Syndicate
