How can a game like The Evil Within a game that no one has played when it sold 2 million copies and that is really awesome sales for a new ip and especially if it is a horror game and Wolfenstein was the best FPS this year and debuted no.2 in UK so i am pretty sure it sold well and a sequel is in the talks so that is successful.

Bansai3404d ago (Edited 3404d ago )

Played all of those games with the exception of Donkey Kong as I still do not own Wii U, otherwise I'd buy it day one.

Great list xD

MadLad3404d ago

Because Gaming Bolt simply throws some words on the screen and calls it an article?

showtimefolks3403d ago

Wolfenstein

i know it sold well but i think Wolfenstein deserved more sales, its an awesome new school mixed in with old school game

Npugz73403d ago

The game was good but I had to stop playing it because it gave me motion sickness for some reason. No other game does that to me except this one.

bjmartynhak3403d ago

Neogaf and media in general put this game into a pedestal. I'm in chapter 16 and it's being just an ok game so far....

Specially because the light feel of the guns. The gunplay is simply not good. It feels very similar to Bioshock. There is this... lack of whoomph.

More, though the game has non-regenerating health, the game desing is pretty much the same as other shooters, which they compensate giving health and armor everywhere.

@Npugz7
The running is a bit weird. Maybe that's it.

Loadedklip3403d ago (Edited 3403d ago )

@npugz7 ... oh man that sucks. I have the same issue with Half Life 2. I could never finish it cause it literally makes me sick to my stomach. It's probably the field of view that cause it amongst some gamers.

UKmilitia3403d ago

i liked the game but stopped playin it very quick.
It felt to clunky in its controls and very old school feel.

FlyingFoxy3403d ago (Edited 3403d ago )

@Npugz7 I noticed a bit of the same thing, i think it's to do with the camera bob/sway when moving around. I had this issue with Dead Island only worse and had to stop playing it. I never get it with any other games.

This site really sucks. Every day it seems there's some crazy sensationalist headline to garner attention it doesn't deserve. Since when is selling 2 million copies a bad thing? Must be some kind of new thing I'm unaware of. Now "good" sales are "bad". SMH... These people can't write anything!!

I have both Wolfenstein and the Evil Within. Only played the latter one so far and I loved it!

Toolster3403d ago

Are you the same guy who commented on the article on gaming bolt page? If not you've just copied and pasted that guys comment

I normally abhor Wikipedia for its inaccuracy, but all of these figures have citations:

"Within a week of its release, Wolfenstein: The New Order became the second-best selling game of 2014 in the United Kingdom, behind Titanfall. The game also topped the weekly UK charts in its first week, totalling a quarter of all games sold in the United Kingdom and accounting for 36% of revenue.

In the United States, the game was the fourth and seventh best-selling game of May and June 2014, respectively. The game was also ranked the fifth and fourteenth best-selling digital PlayStation 4 game of May and June 2014, respectively.

In its first week in Japan, the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 versions of the game were placed on the charts at 15th and 8th, respectively, collectively selling over 11,000 units.

By June 2014, the game had sold almost 400,000 physical units in Europe, equating to over €21 million"

LostPotato3403d ago

Its quite simple as two million sales hardly breaks even on the massive budgets some of these games have.

Loadedklip3403d ago

2 million is definately a profit for most games even most AAA games. Only a handful of games have a budget that requires 2 million to make a profit.

LostPotato3403d ago

I now why I hate this site. You cant share an opinion with the truth without getting down votes.

What an useless feature, and I'm Glad my site doesn't use up-votes or down-votes.

Dubaman3403d ago

If the developers and publishers made only $30 from each game sold, yet they certainly made more in some cases and less in others. Though for arguments sake lets just say its $30 and with 2,000,000 sales that comes to $60,000,000 in revenue. If i had to guess id say thats breaking even on dev costs, considering its just a single player game afterall, which is a big reason as to why no one is really talking about it. Unless you can prove otherwise id say the devs and pubs are pretty happy. Either way approximately 2,000,000 sales is pretty damn good and certainly played by more than 'no one'. Now if you had said its 'Under appreciated' thats another story and is probably what the main article should have been about in the first place.

sanosukegtr1233403d ago

The evil within was a good game. No regrets in buyin it

modelgod3403d ago

Exactly!! I liked D4,I think it should have made the list.

Agree with the eventual winner. The New Order was a beauty, but from the moment I purchased said winner I never looked back, sublime example of the genre and easily in my top 10 of 2014.

Morgue3403d ago

Yeah it was good too actually sit down and play a complete game and not have to worry about multiplayer.

e-p-ayeaH3403d ago

Wolfenstein delivered but 2014 wasnt a good year for games

DarkOcelet3403d ago

Well if you think about it, it was actually a solid year for single player fans because we had South Park, Wolfenstein , Evil Within, Alien Isolation, Dark Souls 2, Dragon Age Inquistion and some excellent episodes from telltale and a couple of good indies like Transistor, Child of light and alot of games i forgot along the way. But for overhyped and multiplayer fans, they really had the worst year i can think of which makes you wonder how much flak MS would have gotten if it made the console online and the things they want to did in the wake of the lizard squad attacks. Anyway i am glad i barely play online and i had a great year.

leganord3403d ago

I only play single player games and 2014 was the worst year I can remember. Alien Isolation was the only memorable game this year, and Assetto Corsa was the best overall for me, but it's a niche game.

Dark Souls 2 was the worst DS yet. The Evil Within was mediocre and really nothing more than an ammo management game that went on for too long (by the end of it I was so tired that I used an infinite ammo cheat to get it done with, and it became trivial, proving my point). Shadow of Mordor almost played itself. Lords of Shadow 2 was an improvement over the first one, especially the combat, but the campaign was still too boring to warrant a second playthrough (it was this year's Darksiders 2). The Legend of Korra was a quickly put together licensed game, and only the Wii U owners got to play Platinum's great games this year. There wasn't a good fps this year unless you are into kike propaganda and murdering German people, nor a good modern rpg.

I we're talking about small 2D games like Kero Blaster or Freedom Planet, of course there will be a few of them every year, as will be adventure games like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishments, but it's the bigger games (and the disappointments that come with them) that really define each year.

modelgod3403d ago

It wasn't a good year for PS4 games, that's why you said I think wasn't a great year for games. Lol!! Xbox for life!

IGiveHugs2NakedWomen3403d ago (Edited 3403d ago )

Wolfenstein and The Evil Within, games that no one played?

Both games have sold a million copies on the PS4 alone. Come on?

DougLord3403d ago

Raymen Legends. Among the best reviewed games, sold like crap

modelgod3403d ago

Yes. I forgot about Raymond legends.

Bioshock 1 only has the intro though, would you kindly pick up that radio? :p

Levii_92354d ago

Original FEAR is a goddamn masterpiece

ModsDoBetter354d ago

Was playing Alien: Isolation again a few weeks ago, still holds up and the AI is incredible.

F.E.A.R. was another amazing game, shame the series went downhill with 2 and then fell off entirely with F3AR.

Couldn’t get into Fatal Frame, bought the remaster on PS5 and just…couldn’t.

DeathTouch354d ago

Fatal Frame 2 is an underrated masterpiece.

gold_drake354d ago

omg that game freaked me out haha

Abnor_Mal353d ago

One of my favorite games, would love to see a remake.

gold_drake354d ago

i still think Haunting Ground is one of the best.
