No Nudity In Telltale's Game of Thrones Episode 2, Will Feature "Moderate" Sexual Themes

"Telltale Games' Game of Thrones series got off to a good start earlier this month with the first episode in the six-part game series gaining high praise from players and critics.

One aspect that some players feel a little disappointed in is the lack of nudity, something the source material doesn't hold back on." The Games Cabin

Well even at the lowest level, interactive sex would drive sales

chrish19903401d ago

True that! Sex sells in every industry.

Naga3401d ago

And that's why sex is most often the cheap and easy tactic of unskilled writers. It's much harder for entertainment to ride on the merits of its narrative strength than on the carnal appeal of an audience's baser instincts. I find it quite refreshing to see a developer like Telltale step up to that challenge.

christian hour3401d ago

Is nudity really that integral to the plot and enjoyment of game of thrones for its newest fanbase? Was this actually a disappointment for some people!?

I weep for mankind...

Anzil3401d ago

The great thing about mankind is they like to have sex........

starrman19853401d ago

The books are violent and quite explicit, I think some fans probably want telltale to stick as closely as possible to the writings.

Ogygian3401d ago (Edited 3401d ago )

Look at it this way:

Great storyline + boobs >>> Great storyline + no boobs

But on a more serious note, the nudity, like th violence, is very much part of the atmosphere. It creates a world which comes across as quite "dark", and at present, the games seem like a prudish cousin to the TV show and books.

Blaze9293401d ago

I don't really understand the gaming industry when it comes to explicit content. At least in America - where sex is taboo.

Rated M for mature? One should be able to do as you please once you slap that 17/18+ rating on their game.

christian hour3401d ago

It's hilarious. all the guns blood and violence you can get away with, if done cleverly, you can get a pg-13 rating. But you show one nipple or a hint of sexuality and the whole world loses its mind!

Blaze9293401d ago

exactly bro! It's honestly ridiculous and makes no sense whatsoever.

GiantFriendlyCrab3401d ago

The thing is you can have a boner. Thats embarrassing when your family is around you

spicelicka3401d ago

I think the real argument that people choose to ignore is how it's become industry standard to shove sex in everything, which is fine when it comes to the freedom of expression. But it's become such a requirement that anyone going into acting is expected to bare it all if they want to become famous, specially with women. You wanna be famous? Do a nude photoshoot.

Half the scenes we see we know are really unnecessary and exploitative, but we defend it by saying they add to the story.

The way i see it, the moral issue is in that fact that sex scenes and whatnot are actually really happening when they are filmed, while the violence is obviously faked. It's not a problem with the audience, they're free to watch whatever they like, but it is a problem for the people enacting it.

Of course it doesn't apply to video games or anything virtual or animated. Also this is not to say I don't love sex or watching it, but there's a separate industry for that so why shove it in everything?

I know its incorporated in our modern culture so people are okay with it, but its really an issue that we totally overlook. But many cultures and families are not ok with it, I would love to show my parents all these amazing movies and shows I watch but I can't for this reason.

Ogygian3401d ago

So what?

Maybe that's just the way acting is going these days. If people do not like it, they can try some other career, such as business, the medical profession or journalism.

Many actors do not like baring all, but many actually do. The industry is changing, and what is beneficial to one type of person is costly to another.

I don't see the problem.

Mutant-Spud3401d ago (Edited 3401d ago )

Until recently sex scenes in a game would have run the risk of becoming a laughing stock, the animation and mo-cap technology is incredible now so it's possible to make sex look sensual and realistic and not ridiculously funny like the sex scene from Team America: World Police.

ibrake4naps3401d ago

I'll wait and see what episode 3 holds. Hopefully it holds some bountiful chest pillows...

CLOUD19833401d ago (Edited 3401d ago )

What's the point of a GoT game without nudity & sex?

Telltale go check The Witcher games & get some clue of how a mature game must be to attract the appropriate audience (mature people) if u can't do it right don't do it at all go make a hello kitty game.

goldwyncq3401d ago

If you watch the series solely for the nudity, then you're not really mature enough to watch it.

Halo2ODST23400d ago

The series is great, because of the writing and complex themes, but the nudity adds to the atmosphere (, for godsake, it's a medieval type fantasy universe, there is gonna be sexual themes, if you can't handle these mature themes, go watch or play hello Kitty, as it is intended for kids, this game, as it is a GoT game, should stay within the realms of the series & the books, so it can stay true to the original source, which includes these sexual themes, and adds variety, Game of Thrones,

goldwyncq3401d ago

Who knows? Maybe they're saving it for later.

Imalwaysright3401d ago (Edited 3401d ago )

Or maybe as DLC.

What’s the best Game of Thrones video game?

Over the past decade, Game of Thrones has become a bonafide powerhouse in the realms of television and fantasy literature. However, despite its massive pop culture presence, there’s one entertainment avenue in which George R.R. Martin’s politically charged fantasy drama has mostly floundered: video games.

I personally loved the Telltale GoT. Probably one of the few where your choice actually matters. Iron from ice!

lucian2291794d ago

One of my favorite telltale games. Loved the story

Manubiggs1794d ago

I loved it too, my favorite tell tale game. Always wishes there would be a sequel

Hatsu121795d ago

The one that's not written by D&D

pietro12121794d ago

What does that even mean? Sounds like you don't know what D&D is?

TekoIie1794d ago (Edited 1794d ago )

D&D is used as an abbreviation for the main writers of the show (David Benioff and D. B. Weiss) because it's a hell of a lot shorter. So it's not a 'what' it's a 'who' and to be honest he's right. These guys have shown a complete disregard for the material with their recent attempt to rush it to completion to move on to their Star Wars work. These guys showed talent in adapting but don't have an original bone in their body based on their work beforehand.

pietro12121794d ago

In that case I agree and I apologize for coming off as an A hole. Dungeons and Dragons kept popping in my head every time I read D&D. Lol

porkChop1795d ago

I mean we only have the Telltale game, the 2012 RPG, and some mobile games to choose from. So probably Telltale? Even though I personally thought it was one of Telltale's worst products.

Can the Games Market be Dominated by the Film Industry?

Written by Alan Kerr - The continual push towards better graphics has led the game industry to a point where games are starting to look incredibly realistic. At the same time, the film industry’s ability in CGI has come just as far and it is getting harder to notice the difference.

Well first of all gaming does far more than just realistic graphics, it goes for all different kinds of art styles.

Second visuals aren’t everything. It’s the only interactive medium with various aspects that can’t be replicated in any other medium.

Finally the gaming industry is the fastest growing industry of all time and in recent years it’s outgrossed both the music and movie industries combined.

MorpheusX2159d ago

Can the Games Market be Dominated by the Film Industry?

There trying .

TekoIie2159d ago

Not really. The games industry is far more flexible and able to wriggle its way into people's lives be it from candy crush on the bus to Call of Duty at home.

Film has it much harder to make its way into people's lives seeing as you may have to put aside a few hours in the day to see a movie.

To me it's just one major advantage the medium has over the other from a market standpoint.

Winter is Here: Five Games to Play Until Game of Thrones Returns

After a fantastic seventh season that greatly improved upon the somewhat lacklustre sixth, Game of Thrones is once more on hiatus. Now that everyone must wait until Summer 2018 (or possibly even as late as 2019) for the next series, OnlySP has decided that the best thing for everyone is to offer a list of the best video games to scratch that Game of Thrones itch as they wait.

How did I not notice that it's already winter?

LawlessSXE2419d ago

Because it's not literally. Winter just ended in the southern hemisphere and is three months away in the northern.
The title refers to winter in the show, as well as acting as a metaphor for the hiatus period until the next season as dead months.

Prince_TFK2419d ago

Winter is here...in Westeros.

mocaak2419d ago

"After a fantastic seventh season that greatly improved upon the somewhat lacklustre sixth." 😂😂😂 Wow, ok. Season 6 was superior in every way.

NordicRainy2419d ago

Yeah seriously. What has this author been smoking? This season has been criticised much more than 6.

Lou Ferrigno2419d ago

right?.. both seasons were really good , but S6 was amazing and had the perfect ending going into S7... can't wait for S8.
