And that's why sex is most often the cheap and easy tactic of unskilled writers. It's much harder for entertainment to ride on the merits of its narrative strength than on the carnal appeal of an audience's baser instincts. I find it quite refreshing to see a developer like Telltale step up to that challenge.

The books are violent and quite explicit, I think some fans probably want telltale to stick as closely as possible to the writings.

Great storyline + boobs >>> Great storyline + no boobs

But on a more serious note, the nudity, like th violence, is very much part of the atmosphere. It creates a world which comes across as quite "dark", and at present, the games seem like a prudish cousin to the TV show and books.

Rated M for mature? One should be able to do as you please once you slap that 17/18+ rating on their game.

It's hilarious. all the guns blood and violence you can get away with, if done cleverly, you can get a pg-13 rating. But you show one nipple or a hint of sexuality and the whole world loses its mind!

I think the real argument that people choose to ignore is how it's become industry standard to shove sex in everything, which is fine when it comes to the freedom of expression. But it's become such a requirement that anyone going into acting is expected to bare it all if they want to become famous, specially with women. You wanna be famous? Do a nude photoshoot.

Half the scenes we see we know are really unnecessary and exploitative, but we defend it by saying they add to the story.

The way i see it, the moral issue is in that fact that sex scenes and whatnot are actually really happening when they are filmed, while the violence is obviously faked. It's not a problem with the audience, they're free to watch whatever they like, but it is a problem for the people enacting it.

Of course it doesn't apply to video games or anything virtual or animated. Also this is not to say I don't love sex or watching it, but there's a separate industry for that so why shove it in everything?

I know its incorporated in our modern culture so people are okay with it, but its really an issue that we totally overlook. But many cultures and families are not ok with it, I would love to show my parents all these amazing movies and shows I watch but I can't for this reason.

Maybe that's just the way acting is going these days. If people do not like it, they can try some other career, such as business, the medical profession or journalism.

Many actors do not like baring all, but many actually do. The industry is changing, and what is beneficial to one type of person is costly to another.

Until recently sex scenes in a game would have run the risk of becoming a laughing stock, the animation and mo-cap technology is incredible now so it's possible to make sex look sensual and realistic and not ridiculously funny like the sex scene from Team America: World Police.

Telltale go check The Witcher games & get some clue of how a mature game must be to attract the appropriate audience (mature people) if u can't do it right don't do it at all go make a hello kitty game.

The series is great, because of the writing and complex themes, but the nudity adds to the atmosphere (, for godsake, it's a medieval type fantasy universe, there is gonna be sexual themes, if you can't handle these mature themes, go watch or play hello Kitty, as it is intended for kids, this game, as it is a GoT game, should stay within the realms of the series & the books, so it can stay true to the original source, which includes these sexual themes, and adds variety, Game of Thrones,

Not every game company wants to have sexual content in their games. People have morals and that just needs to be respected. I for one am against that in a video game. I don't know how old you guys are but I remember when video games were about how fun they are or how good the story is.... Not why does it not have gore or why does it not have nudity. Hell, when asuras wrath came out and they had switched the color of blood to orange so it would obtain a T rating a simple change in color destroyed its sales. Can I ask a question? Why do you people even want sex in games? Do you enjoy it or get off to it? Or Is your argument "we're adults and we should get to see sex in everything in place of the sex we don't get" *drops mic*

Well I hate violence, nudity (including naked faces) and profanity. So in my morality, all characters should wear headscarves, nobody should be harmed, and there should be no swearing. Also visual representation of meat and weaponry should be removed because they're against my morality.

People should respect my morality.

Now that was a joke, but I hope you see my point about the morals of the 99% taking precedence. Pandering to one group means forsaking another, and so the democratic majority must be heard (and it's pretty clear from just this comments section which that is).

As for sex+nudity, you must remember what purpose it serves in GoT. It is present firstly to create a very physical atmosphere, defined by its brutishness and hedonism. In. GoT, there is little in the way of poetry; romantic love (in the LotR sense, where there is no physicality) and "noble"deaths are unheard of. People die in some pretty shocking ways, and nudity is just part of the materialistic atmosphere; GoT doesn't make a big deal out of it, so why should we?

Secondly, the series keeps us on our toes by proving that it has no limits. Being unbound, we never know what to expect next, which is quite unlike other fantasy series like LotR or Narnia, where we always know that the next chapter will retain a sense of "decency" by following rules. That's not to say these aren't great books/films, but GoT is special because it keeps us on edge, waiting to be shocked.

GRRM didn't try to craft a piece of restrained, perfect poetry like JRRT; he tried to create a brutal world which would make audiences feel the uncomfortable atmosphere themselves. ASoIaF is not supposed to have you feeling comfortable, and that's the point.

your first point makes no sense. my point about respecting morals was toward the people making the game and expecting them to do something you want even if they don't want to is ridiculous. also showing lesbians practice having sex serves a purpose or a prince spanking a servant or a child watching people have sex? ah okay.... no not really they even said that they had to add a load of sex scenes to get the show on hbo. you're simply justifying explicitness the same way the women who read and are craving to see fifty shades of grey.

another thing about your first point. I see you couldn't find a way to defend your opinion so you exaggerated mine to an extreme. you also mixed morals with beliefs.

my point is if you want to watch porn, go watch porn, if you want to play a video game go play one... . video games and television were fine before they started mixing in extreme violence and nudity. they don't need it to be good.

To be honest, they would have been fine with an AO rating, at least on PC.

Most (all?) of their sales are digital, and Steam, GMG and Gamersgate would surely have stocked the game regardless of its rating.

We need AO to become acceptable, and a game such as this could have driven that forward.

Sadly, I expect that this move was entirely due to Apple behaving like a fool around nudity (Steve Jobs was a prude), and the game's iOS port.
