Falling Skies: The Game (PlayStation 3) Review - Cubed3

Cubed3:
"A good TV show such as Falling Skies and a good gameplay concept like the one from the XCOM games - what could possibly go wrong? For anyone who has ever picked up a licensed game before, the answer should be obvious: everything.

This is the official Falling Skies videogame, based around a very solid gameplay model, mainly paying homage to turn-based strategy game series XCOM. This might sound like a perfect fit at first, and maybe in an alternative reality in which licensed games were given more attention it would have been, but this ends up being a disappointment. Cubed3 recently took on the Nintendo Wii U eShop exclusive release that hit the US market, and now it is time to look at what European fans of the show can pick up: the PlayStation 3 edition."

Any game that attempts to include Sly Stallone's face is going to be a bad game

But wouldn't it just be Far Cry 2?

Review: Falling Skies: The Game - NLife

NLife:
"Video games have relied on the standard 'alien invasion' plot since the very beginning. It takes a unique twist to make it work in this day and age, whether it's a new gameplay style or a refreshingly original storyline, and that isn't an easy task. Falling Skies: The Game takes fun, tactical gameplay and blends it with the expansive setting of a popular TNT drama series, managing to make a mess of both in the process."

Review: Falling Skies: The Game - Connected Digital World

Connected Digital World writes: I’m a big fan of the Falling Skies TV show. Sure it follows the usual tropes and stereotypes that plague post-apocalyptic TV shows. ‘I don’t want to kill my zombie child’ or ‘we need to go to dangerous place X to get X item for X’. But I still love the show. The sci-fi plot set against a dark and gritty background made a pleasant change from my usual TV sci-fi outings. So when I got chance to play the game I was very keen. I had visions of a successful tie-in in keeping with The Walking Dead games. And then I found it was ‘similar’ to Xcom: Enemy Unknown. I’m an even bigger fan of Xcom so the chance to play it with skins and characters from Falling Skies appealed to me greatly. With the scene set and my hopes surprisingly high I loaded up the game.
