Sony Wants To Know if You Want Another PlayStation Experience Next Year: “Whole Company Had a Blast”

PlayStation Experience is now in the past, with its big load of gameplay, announcements and information directly from the developers, and many are asking themselves whether it’ll happen again. Digital Communications Senior Manager Sid Shuman encouraged fans to let Sony know if they want another.

Yes, I thought it was great. I had my hopes high and was a little dissapointed with no last guardian haha but I am used to the pain. I reckon they shouldn't do it annually unless they have a lot to show rather than a reflection on the year and a look at games already coming up. If they throw in surprises each year then yes it will make me wanting it again.

I dunno.. a one time thing felt special for the anniversary and they had enough to show to quench my thirst but if they don't have much to show next year then I'd rather not. It just becomes disappointing and cheapens the whole event. Leaning towards no even though I loved it this year!

Agreed, it was awesome. Annual would be great! But I'd do it in November to build hype for the holidays, as it felt quite late for an annual event.

PSX timing may have been a one-off opportunity - I mean, how often can we hope to enter January with so many awesome games coming so soon? Building hype so late this year will maintain momentum into New Year. :)

Agree with others though; don't do it for the sake of doing it, only bother if you have enough great content to make it worthwhile - and don't let it detract from a decent showing at E3 (obviously it didn't this year)!

I think it coincides with The Game Awards. And since that MIGHT be held in Vegas every year, it would be tough to move the event somewhere else.

You gotta think about all the gamers and developers who showed up to the TGAs, then were also in town for the PSExp.

It makes it alot simpler for everyone involved if you have the TGAs one day, then the next day you simply go to the PSExp a few blocks away.

Asking journalists, gamers and developers to quickly leave after the awards kind of dampens the whole point. It's a gaming weekend with two major events back-to-back.

There was more than one new game there announced for the PS consoles like Drawn to Death, Killstrain, new Fat princess, The forest, new MLB. third parties bringings like Yakuza 5 to the west for PS3

Buts that not even the point, developers dont make a 100 new games and am pretty sure you are talking about new AAA games, there is only so much you can announces new in a year

I want another PS experience, the main thing is that I want another game experience for the holidays especially when the next E3 is so far away, so whether its new gameplay and some little game announcements, I am fine with it. I dont always feel the need to see big titles at every conference, leave that for E3 or Gamescom

Plus the panels were amazing for game tech knowledge and if you are an aspiring game developer there was a lot there from advice on how to get into the industry, life story of current game developers, even some secret news that people who didnt watch the panels would have missed

Yeah not to mention super stardust ultra and dungeon defenders 2, the delivered on their promise.

I got to see the rage inducing multiplat, new games like super star dust, drawn to death, dungeon defenders, the forest and new mlb and an announcement of a new god of war.

Plus I got new gameplay on the order, uncharted 4, bloodborne, untildawn, no mans sky and more. Frankly I thought it was awesome.

Half of you guys were only disappointed because you wanted to be.

Yes. It's basically Sony's very own E3-style show without having to compete with the other console companies. In fact, if the B_I_G game announcements get made in PSX and then followed up in E3 and Gamescom with gameplay, it could become one of the biggest annual game events easily.

Edit: Oh, but Squeenix should be persona non grata for the next one. Fuck them. They sold out to Microsoft and then sahed the hopes of their fan with the bullshit FF7 announcement. They deserve the boot.

Lol. Agreed with you though. The only weak part from the keynote is the troll called square-enix. I don't know why Sony let them announced the original FF 7 on the stage rather than Sony just put a teaser of new God of War (they admited it's on developement), GT 7, Gravity Rush 2, or something from Sony studios :/

OT. Yes i want more PSX please. I only watched the discussion panel from youtube but it's very informative for me. The next PSX should invite more speakers from sony japan studios, polyphony digital, or maybe 3rd party like nippon ichi, nihon falcom, hideo kojima, etc. That would be cool ^^

The only downside to this is that I feel like Sony's E3 will always suffer to make room for PSX as the bigger event, which apparently might always follow E3 instead of precede it.

I thought it was awesome and I hope it continues, but only if that means both E3 and PSX stay awesome.

If Sony keeps doing their thing with PSX, then do they really even need to attend E3? They can use PSX to announce and show games coming in the next year. And they can stream it directly on the PS4 and Vita. I don't think there's a need for E3.

In terms of audience, I think it'd be best to keep E3. I imagine it's cheaper promotion than their Vegas gig and if they don't have a presence early in the year, it pretty much leaves Microsoft to steal the show. I think it's just smarter to either keep both events or do PSX before E3.

Yes please do. It's really something when company's do something special for fans. Nintendo has their Direct which reaches out to fans to share news and updates and this is easily Sony's thing to have a big show just for fans that is mostly 1st and 2nd part devs. Sony and Nintendo know that their fan bases are about the individual franchises and are community of their own now. No doubt next year MS will copy what these two have done.

I thought this was a one-off for the anniversary? Personally, I wished that they would've been able to secure the rights to Crash Bandicoot and Shenmue 1&2 HD, along with an announcement regarding The Last Guardian. Something like that would've broken the internet.
The show was still very good, but I'm unsure if Sony will have enough exclusive content to justify the PS Experience every year without repeating things from the other major games conferences throughout the year?

I watched the event online and do now know the details about the game demos, new sony toys people can try out there, but the streamed announcements and talks were not impressive in my opinion. There were tons of "ALRIGHT GUYS ARE YOU EXCITED??!!" moments over and over again and people seemed to be forcing some woohoo's out so the show can go on. It got annoying.

As for the game announcements, like mentioned in some other comments, there was no real surprise, like "now way how could I have missed this, why were there no rumros?!" kind of thing.

The main point probably is getting fans together, let them play games and attend live talks with their favorite game makers and some of the actors, in which case, yes there should definitely be another one next year.

People are forgetting they put it in December for the reason to break the cycle that the way the industry is in right now.
