Today Jagex and Hasbro confirmed that Transformers Universe will close. This decision comes at an important time for both companies as they both realign their plans and focuses for 2015.
2014 was a great year for MOBAs. But with great strides, though, came some pitfalls. Transformers Universe will officially shut down servers at 10AM GMT on January 31st, and Dawngate will close at 10Pm PDT on February 4th. Here is a look back at each of the two games.
Jagex has confirmed that the team working on Transformers Universe is going to be getting a little bit smaller as layoffs are coming. The downsizing is coming as Jagex reaches a new level of development with a more refined focus towards live. In a statement to GamesIndustry.biz Jagex had this to say.
gamrReview's Patrick Day-Childs: "What is interesting about Transformers Universe in particular is the level of thought put into the special abilities; fights (at least from my brief hands-on experience) are very well balanced. Some characters benefit from a direct head-on combat approach, while others benefit from a buffing system, but all can hold their own.
Transformers Universe actually went into open beta a couple of months back, but has thus far floated somewhat under the radar, so many gamers may not be aware of that fact. If you're interested, I would definitely encourage you to sign up to the public beta here."
