Killer Instinct reveals Riptor

The fourth fighter coming to Killer Instinct's second season on Xbox One is the reimagined Riptor, who's now a cybernetic dinosaur, and developer Iron Galaxy gives us a sneak peek at what she's going to look like.

Relientk773837d ago

Ok that's boss

sorta wanna watch Jurassic Park now

XboxOneX3837d ago

Jurassic World looks amazing so does this game.

Perjoss3837d ago

I like the look of KI even though I've not picked it up yet. Jurassic World not so much.

RiseofScorpio3837d ago

When was Riptor a she lol, it was never confirmed could be genderless.

coolbeans3837d ago

Well...Riptor's gender was never 'officially' announced before, but her ending in old KI showed her laying eggs.

Fireseed3837d ago

Was always confirmed in the old days but scroll down to her bio and it's as plain as day http://www.ultra-combo.com/...

TXIDarkAvenger3836d ago (Edited 3836d ago )

She was always a female...

LackTrue4K3836d ago (Edited 3836d ago )

Sex-determining mechanisms in reptiles are broadly divided into two main categories: genotypic sex determination (GSD) and temperature-dependent sex determination (TSD)

you can really never know with just looking @ them, its more off the heat there body gives out. female reptiles give out more.

@coolbeans, males lay eggs too.

Gigglefist3836d ago (Edited 3836d ago )

Male animals in fact do NOT lay eggs. Not sure where you heard that one. If there's some unique example of a male laying eggs it's 100% new to me.

Not to mention TSD refers to the factors that determines an embryo's gender from outside forces. i.e. hotter nests produce more females. Not that females themselves are hotter. Not relevant in this situation at all.

coolbeans3836d ago (Edited 3836d ago )

"@coolbeans, males lay eggs too."

In the very limited case of something like say...sea horses (which even then is a special case), okay I can see where you're going with that. But in regards to what I'm talking about? I'd need to see some studies sent to me via PM for proof.

I really like how ms has handled KI. it sure beats the sf4 business model...

mhunterjr3836d ago (Edited 3836d ago )

@disagrees

I take it you all enjoyed having to re-buy the entire game everytime some new characters and gameplay tweaks were released...and the resulting fragmentation

Ripsta7th3836d ago

Since sfV went exclusive they now like sf again and wont tolerate any negative comment towards it

likeaboss3023835d ago (Edited 3835d ago )

There is no fragmentation. You still download the whole game and just pay for as much of it as you want to use.

mhunterjr3835d ago

@likeaboss

Are you talking KI or SF4? Cause sf4 was definately fragmented. Those who bought sf4 had to buy a whole new game in order to get the first new characters and tweaks...

Killer Instinct: The Most Underrated Fighting Video Game in History

Killer Instinct is like the forgotten cousin at the fighting game family reunion.

yeah they were such good and fun games but they never really reached the mainstream audience. Killer Instinct was widely known and respected.

Cacabunga56d ago

Killer instinct is great, especially on snes but it’s not the most underrated fighter.. for me it’s Power Stone. So much potential in this series

Jawsh66656d ago

Bloody Roar was a game that had a sick concept but wasn’t made the best. I’d say Killer Instinct was the opposite of that, it was well made but the roster of characters were so similar to every other fighting game in that era that it ended up feeling like more of the same. I could be wrong that’s just how I remember it at the time and I played a ton of KI on SNES because it was one of the first games I owned.

PRIMORDUS56d ago

I loved this game in the arcade, my main was Jago, Ultra Combo!!! https://www.youtube.com/wat...

DivineHand12555d ago

That combo was way overkill 😂

PRIMORDUS55d ago

I know haha, I loved Jago.

Bathyj56d ago

You're kidding?
It enjoyed probably more success than it deserved.
Unlike Tobal 2

MeteorPanda55d ago

Tobal 2 was awesome. Sold really well cause art similarity to dragon ball

jjb198156d ago

I remember trying my hardest to learn that "Ultra... Ultra.... Ultra...." finish. Such a great fighting game.

Popsicle55d ago (Edited 55d ago )

I can tell you definitely got some SNES time in. The slight differences in the ports due to hardware constraints were interesting. For example, the arcade version was Ultraaaa Coooommboooooooo! versus Ultra….Ultra….Ultra on the SNES.

Though SNES overachieved as a port for as demanding as a game KI was.The arcade version was one of the first cabinets with a dedicated hard drive and the SNES version was 32 megabyte cartridge which was huge for that system at the time.

jjb198154d ago

Yeah, for sure. My local childhood arcade was always packed and it was hard to get a game in but once the SNES version came out, I was hooked. I can still feel the click of the power button.

Barlos564d ago

I'll have to get this! Been a big fan of KI since the very first one.

Petebloodyonion564d ago (Edited 564d ago )

I love KI (still play the old arcade version) but feel like the Xbox version is like a big intimidating chessboard with no easy way to instruct you to play chess.
The game is so deep in terms of little things to do that it makes Smash Bros melee look like a casual experience.
Honestly, doing a combo Breaker is punish/reward by itself but hey you can add a counterbreaker.
Here's what you also need to know
Breaking Shadow-linker
Instincts
Shadow counter
Auto double,
linker, manual
ender
etc,

There isn't going to be any chance of this being played at tournaments unless it appears on all platforms like all fighting games.

SPEAKxTHExTRUTH568d ago

SF5 didn’t appear on all consoles and was still played at Tournaments. I’ve seen KI tournaments recently so I don’t think your opinion is accurate.
