Some idiots think any idiot will by pay a lot of money just for something that is technically rare...

MeteorPanda3829d ago

well what would you do? To this guy he seems just like one of us hoping to make bit of money off luck... don't hate him for it...

heliotropic3829d ago

A smart person realizes it only takes one idiot...

TheFirstClassic3829d ago

Honestly, he is in no way an idiot for selling this for 1,000. There will very likely be someone who is willing to shell out that much money for it, because they just have to have it in their collection.

You could say he is taking advantage of other idiots, but selling that defect for a grand isn't dumb, because it will probably get sold.

heliotropic3829d ago

One of the biggest disappointments in the last 10+ years of gaming is that people are actually buying these things.

Dudebro903829d ago

God forbid people buy something they want!!

Grow up.

heliotropic3829d ago

Hey, at least I'm old enough to not take this **** personally.

N4g_null3829d ago

Nothing wrong with functionality and toys. Imagine the anime vinyl kits with nfc in them oh boy! Gun dam in smash! Or attack on titan!

Masterchief_thegoat3829d ago

I rather buy the game then buy this

WeAreLegion3829d ago

They should have marketed them strictly as toys. They are well crafted. The color of the plastic holding the figures on the base was an odd choice, but for the price, these are excellent toys. No need for gimmicks.

-Foxtrot3829d ago

People can buy whatever they want...however it's the attitude against them which bugs me

Activision - Skylanders = Bad..they ruined Spryo. Greedy Activision strike again

EA - Disney Infinity = Bad...EA trying to make some quick cash, typical

Nintendo - Ammibo = HOLY SHIT I WANT THESE BLOODY THINGS...AWESOME.

I don't understand, they are the same thing, the purpose of them are roughly the same.

Legion213829d ago

What does EA have to do with Disney Infinity?

AKR3829d ago (Edited 3829d ago )

Nintendo characters have a deeper heritage than the Skylanders and Disney Infinity characters. While Disney characters are popular; the Amiibo line-up is as much of a celebration of games as Smash is. That's what makes it a big deal.

At the end of the day; all three families are selling really well, so there isn't much of a problem here. The only "attitudes" you see, are the opinions of a few select people out of the dozens-of-thousands of purchasers.

PirosThe4th3829d ago

Difference being is that you must have one of those in the first two games to play them. Ammibo's are optional. :P

Brucis3829d ago

Skylanders - Look like Neopets and, yes, they did ruin Spyro. Dude looks nothing like himself.

Disney Infinity - Look neat, but it's for one game (if I recall correctly) and the statues match Disney Infinity's style instead of how they actually looked.

Nintendo - Look neat, can be used for a few games and will be used for more as time goes on, character's are in their style instead of one uniform style.

See the difference?

I think these figures are great to collect, i always wanted to collect Nintendo figures or any figures related to videogames. Also, Amiibos are not mandatory to enjoy the games, it's just a feature.

lucky ass.. I was happy enough to find the adaptor & marth but this is like winning a scratch off

Afterlife3829d ago (Edited 3829d ago )

No one should pay $1000 for this early. Wait it out to see how rare it really is.

rainslacker3829d ago (Edited 3829d ago )

There are people who do think that this stuff is actually worth that much. Some rare items are quite valuable in the collector's market.

In this case though, if I were going to spend that much on a rare item, I'd want to verify it's validity. This guy saying it's a one of a kind does not make it so, and there is no way to tell if it's fake or not since there hasn't been any 3rd party review of it.

Generally in the collector's market, things that go for $1K plus require either really healthy connections with a respectful reputation, or some sort of independant verification...even if by the buying party.

For the time being, as a collector, $1000 would be too great a risk to take on this item. Even in the future it probably won't be worth that much if someone is just looking to flip it. If there is one of these, and it's real, there are likely hundreds of them floating around. The regular $12 figure would be a better investment. In 10 years it'll probably sell for $25-50 each. May be worth it if real and you just want to have it cuz it's somewhat unique.

$40 is absolutely ridiculous. $15 made sense, but you can literally get full on games for $40… what in the hell is going on?

PapaBop28d ago

$40? wtf that is insane. I got a few sometime ago and those things should be more like $15 tops for the quality of them. Nintendo going to Nintendo though, people will still pay $40 and scalpers will charge double that and idiots will still pay.
