Lost Ark continues to look incredible

Lost Ark, the South Korean-made action role-playing game we enthused about earlier this week, looks even better in the extensive gameplay video, below.

Over the course of nearly 20 minutes we get a detailed look at the playable hero classes, their skills and abilities and the horrible beasts they fight.

The gorgeous Diablo-style game, made by Tripod and published by Smilegate, has at least seven classes.

There was a interview saying they plan on doing a global release.

Seems like Eurogamer doesn't dissapoint when informing people, thinking it's a Diablo Clone. http://steparu.com/previews... provides a better explanation.

It's so much more than a ''Clone'' and Diablo is a minor game in comparison. Oh, and this has been announced as a worldwide release.

Nothing amazing looking about this. It's just a game that leverage the power of the typical gaming PC instead of a game designed for laptops like Diablo. The Koreans are very online and PC centric in regards to their gaming and this reflected in most of their games. If you look at Tera and Black Desert those games all features best in class graphics.

From a technical point of view the graphics are good for a hack'n'slash game. Animations and skills look extremely interesting. However, the bland art style and generic environments overall look B-rate. Many Korean games excel in fine-tuned mechanics, but fall flat when it comes to unique ideas or innovative art.

This one will get a pass from me. Grim Dawn is the one I will try next.

You've got it backwards and I'm not sure how you managed. This is known by pretty much everyone - Their art and environments always look Incredible/Unique, this is what Asian or Korean games are known for/excel at and this is why so many people attempt Korean games and in some cases ignore the actual issues that come with games like this - Controls, Micro-transactions, and Mechanics. Lets hope this is not the case.

I just simply disagree. I've played plenty of Korean games to form my personal opinion about their games and art. Also, I would never put "Asian or Korean" into one big group, since there are 48 very different countries who all have a very distinctive history and view of art in Asia.

I'm not saying Koreans are not artistic, just that somehow their art in games seems incredibly generic and monotonic, especially compared to their rather sophisticated gameplay mechanics. Their art just seems like it's a copy of a copy of a copy. Monster design, tree design, it's all just really generic to me.

I vastly enjoy Korean art in many other ways. Their movies, classical music, design and contemporary art are often world-class.

(I'm speaking about South-Korea here. I don't think there is a single North-Korean commercial game made yet.)
