The cRPG mod was a neat addition to Mount & Blade: Warband which added persistent character development and an RPG-style leveling system to the medieval open world game's multiplayer. It was lots of fun.
Now the modding team behind it, the excellently named Donkey Crew, have opened a Kickstarter campaign for their own medieval combat game, Melee: Battlegrounds.
Dave Walsh of MiddleEasy spoke with the Donkey Crew, the team behind Melee: Battlegrounds about the transition from being popular modders in the Warband community to breaking off and creating their own melee-based game.
The international team members of Donkey Crew has started a crowd-funding campaign for Melee:Battlegrounds; this MMO cRPG allows personal computer users to customize and control one warrior. By skillfully mastering the 360 range of encounters and other fighting techniques like feinting, these online players can test their sword-fighting abilities on the field or medieval castles. Folks can see one warrior trying to siege a stronghold or fortress in the official trailer for this upcoming game.

Yeah, I'm all about this. I foresee mass slaughter and kick-ass combat mechanics. It's worth a few bucks to see this through.
