Users complaining about lack of FOV slider in Far Cry 4 PC have pirated copies

VG24/7: "Far Cry 4 does have an FOV slider. The feature is available in the game’s day one patch. Those who pirated the PC version however wouldn’t have gotten that patch when the game came out and thus began flooding the developers’ Twitter accounts and other message boards about the lack of the feature."

Snookies123874d ago (Edited 3874d ago )

Hahaha, that's hilarious. Just announcing that you've pirated the game straight to the developers. This coming from someone who used to pirate all my games. Sure, I download stuff I shouldn't at times, just like nearly everyone else on the internet. Downloading things that have just come out though? That's when you deserve to get punished.

Dynasty20213874d ago

Not always.

It was widely known that Deus Ex Human Revolution had its' press version (like 1/3rd of the game) leaked online for PC, torrented left and right.

And PC pre-orders went through the roof because it wasn't a shoddy port ruined by consoles like usual.

If you make a good PC version, people will always pay.

If you can't be bothered to, why should we pay?

And console games get pirated all the time, so don't anyone bring that piracy crap just to the PC side of the argument.

And anyway, piracy has a minimal affect on sales and ultimately profit, proven many times.

Ubisoft don't deserve ANYONE's money these days.

SteamPowered3874d ago

To be fair, I gladly pay for games on Steam. Pirating gets to be such a friggen hassle with Key generators and Online DRM, its too much work! Or I could wait for a Steam sale and buy the game at a fraction of the cost of retail. Plus the game will have mods and support through the community. Not just the lunkheads in TPB forums.

starchild3874d ago (Edited 3874d ago )

No, I'll decide what to spend my money on. I bought AC Unity on the PC and I'm glad I did. I don't care about joining any bandwagons. I did my research and determined that AC Unity would be a game I would enjoy and I haven't been disappointed. The game is a lot of fun and I enjoy the atmosphere and narrative quite a lot. It also runs well on my GTX 770, and now runs nearly flawlessly on my new GTX 970, so I really don't have any big complaints.

I hope they fix some of the glitches with NPCs popping into view or LOD changes on the NPCs happening abruptly and a few things like that, but those are minor things in the grand scheme of things. It would be like reading a great 800 page novel and complaining that some of the sentences used improper punctuation. Sure, you would prefer for it to be better edited, but it doesn't really detract from the core value of the novel.

@Dynasty2021
"If you make a good PC version, people will always pay."

you have no basis whatsoever for those claims. many games with great reviews have indeed gotten pirated.

"If you can't be bothered to, why should we pay?"

then there is also an easy solution, don't play it then even for free. if you paid you have a right to complain but don't try and justify pirating. you simply don't have any reasonable answer.

"And console games get pirated all the time, so don't anyone bring that piracy crap just to the PC side of the argument."

i don't think ps4 and xbox one games have pirated copies that are able to be played yet. not sure about the wii u.

"And anyway, piracy has a minimal affect on sales and ultimately profit, proven many times."

once again you have no backing to make such outlandish claims. you seem to once again try to excuse piracy.

"Ubisoft don't deserve ANYONE's money these days."

great, then don't play them. even pirated copies.

I buy all of my games and software and I'm proud of it. I haven't even downloaded any songs illegally in years.

Kivespussi3874d ago

Buying songs is just so much simplier and results in better audio quality that it's just worth it. Granted, I usually don't buy songs on their owns, sometimes albums but mostly I use Spotify.

Mega243874d ago (Edited 3874d ago )

Who buys music this days? Spotify is simply better. As for piracy, people ask why DLC and other crap was created. Studios closing left and right, more developers grasping F2P models. Gaming is heading to some dark and troubling times.

ElementX3874d ago

I use Spotify at home at sometime when I am using my mobile, however I buy the songs I like to listen to if I want to conserve battery or don't have net access.

OsirisBlack3874d ago

I have heard it all..... this is actually pretty sad.

Father__Merrin3874d ago

Those users who are complaining about a pirated copy, you are a cheap ass skank that is all

How dare they moan

trickman8883874d ago

that's nice. but it'll (eventually) be worked around.

late but still a good move, oobi

InUrFoxHole59d ago

Seriously, it's great to see devs add things to older games.

OhReginald60d ago

Sony....you're really letting ubisoft out of all all companies to out class you??? Give us the bloondborne 60 fps patch....ffs

dantesparda60d ago

I second this (Bloodborne 60fps) plus damn, Ubisoft, you're doing great but now the last thing I want youi to do is mae Far Cry Primal 60fps and AC Unity

Profchaos59d ago

Everytime someone asks for a bloodborne patch it gets delayed 1 day.

ETA next century

I_am_Batman59d ago

They know it's gonna cost them sales of the inevitable Remake that'll probably come around the PS6 launch.

raWfodog60d ago

Good news for when, or If, I ever play it. It’s waaay down on my backlog list lol.

P_Bomb59d ago

I like these 60fps patches. Hoping they’ll do Ghost Recon Wildlands someday.

Yi-Long59d ago

Kudos to Ubisoft for once again going back to older titles and then offering a nice upgrade for free. I know the company gets a lot of criticism, in quite a few cases understandable and justified, but in this area of contintued post-launch support for their SP games, they deserve some credit.

Ubisoft Removes Nudity in Silent Far Cry 4 Update (New Info: Changes Reverted)

Update: Ubisoft has acknowledged that the Japanese version of the game, which includes regional censorship, was mistakenly released globally. The company says it has reverted these changes in the game's worldwide branch.

Ubisoft has quietly removed nudity from Far Cry 4 in a recent update, sparking speculation about Tencent’s growing influence on the publisher.

You can murder, mame, and viciously attack people, but anything that deals with showing a body in a natural state whether for titillation or narrative, is some truly terrible thing. We are so weird with our puritan thought process. Feed our bloodlust and fuel our enjoyment for entertainment of simulating acts of harm and murder, but god forbid you see digitized TnA. It will never make sense to me.

Rebel_Scum83d ago

tbh even if they did remove it, it doesnt matter. I dont even remember when there was nudity in the game. If it was there it was so inconsequential.

B5R83d ago

Agreed. It absolutely makes no sense

Also, even though Ubisoft reverted the changes that removed nudity, there's the bigger issue of developers being able to make large changes to the game you paid for whenever they want.

Kassanova0783d ago (Edited 83d ago )

Stellar Blade comes to mind. This is why buying physical is the way to go.

Played and enjoyed Far Cry, Far Cry 3 and 4 campaigns .

-Foxtrot470d ago

4 wasn’t so bad

Pagan Min was pretty entertaining

Skuletor470d ago

Yeah, 4 was good, was hard choosing which Golden Dawn member to side with, when they were both pieces of sh!t.
I've beaten all the main entries except 2 and 6, ended up uninstalling 6 to download something else instead.

Profchaos470d ago

I'd love a far cry pack with the original PC game (not the half assed port on ps360) instincts, predator even a port of far cry 2 to modern consoles back when these games had their own identity and weren't far cry 3 cut and pastel

Demetrius470d ago

Still one of my most favorite franchises along with assassins creed

banger88470d ago (Edited 470d ago )

Same here, I don't know why these games get so much hate. I've thoroughly enjoyed every single one of them, with only a couple of exceptions. I wish they'd hurry up and announce Far Cry 7. The only thing I'm concerned about is the rumoured time limit.
