Xbox 360 Price Cut Makes Sense, Says Pachter

Responding to recent rumours of an impending Xbox 360 price cut prior to E3, Wedbush Morgan Securities analyst Michael Pachter says that, realistically, it makes a lot of sense.

"Microsoft has historically been a price taker - meaning that they typically wait for Sony to cut first," Pachter told

"However, they haven't been in the position of having a cost advantage before, as they do now."

If Pachter says it's a good idea, then don't do it.

Don't judge the message by the messenger. Even an idiot gets it right once in a while!

Pachter's response here sound logical and makes perfect sense. I concur with him on this one.

makes Domo happy.

Hardware failure doesn't.

Listen to Domo and everything will be okay.

SmokingMonkey3863d ago

they will slim it down (just like ps2 did) E3 showing?
and then drop the price of the old models.

Sony drop the price some time around the holidays or early next year. With their momentum, doing so now would be silly. However, they have already announced that they are shrinking the GPU's this fall so with that could come a cost savings and they may pass that savings down to the consumers with a price cut. MS may cut their price sooner to try and gain momentum, they need it going into some of their heavy hitters this fall. A price cut and Gears of War 2 would be a great way to usher in the holiday season.
