The general consensus is that Final Fantasy VII needs to be remade. But this article takes a different, contrary and more pixelated view.
Saad from eXputer: "I'm glad I don't have to choose between Square Enix, Atlus, and FromSoftware due to bad release windows and Shadow of the Erdtree."
Yuji Naka was fined $1.2 million and given a suspended jail sentence for the crime.
I find his comments around how Balan turned out to be very insightful as to why the game is trash. He basically apologises for its existence
Final Fantasy 7 has come back under the spotlight thanks to the release of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, but is it worth replaying the original?
Very much so. Graphically it's dated but the story and the gameplay haven't aged a day. It's still one of my all time favourite RPGs and for me is better than Remake in some ways.
I don't know what is the insistence of purists looking for excuses like if a remake could make the original game disappear. Just play the original then and let other people play the new one, if there's ever a new one.
It will never be remade. Everyones expectations would be way to high.
I think Square has made so many bad decisions for so long, they would not make the game people wanted. It would disappoint the fans, embarass the company, and end in disgust.
new and interesting.
Because for as long as the actual argument to make the remake, for triggered by Square themselves, has gone longer than a competent dev could have made it.
That the same can be said of FF15 is besides the point.
Edit:
And at the same I see this trailer and just pine for the RPGs that could be made rather than an MMO:
