VRFocus - Many will remember the now infamous Minecraft incident that surrounded the news of Oculus VR’s $2 billion USD acquisition by Facebook earlier in the year. Shortly after the deal was announced Markus ‘Notch’ Persson, the creator of the beloved series, announced that he had cancelled plans for a virtual reality (VR) version of Minecraft running on the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD). Persson specifically cited the deal as the reason for the cancellation. Of course, the developer is no longer responsible for the franchise and it seems like members of Oculus VR are still keen to see it on the VR device.
With Minecraft’s June 13 update, new features include a stronger Bad Omen effect and raid rewards, meaning a new village overhaul should come next.
Minecraft's 15th year anniversary is being celebrated with a new free map, one filled with memorabilia from the game's history.
Microsoft recently revealed its plans to incorporate Copilot directly into video games, with Minecraft being the first showcased example.
F*** AI
"Hey Copilot, what's a good meme to prove I dislike AI".... https://giphy.com/clips/sou...
Two trillion dollar company that just can't wait to put as many people possible out of work as fast as possible.
It feels like every single thing they do is making gaming worse and destroying the industry.
Why all the hate? Im actually excited about this! Always wanted this kind of immersion, and an AI companion with me all the time helping me out knowing the status of my skills/inventory/progress and giving me tips on the best approach or how to craft something specific is game changing for the industry.
Hate all you want about AI, but this is just the start and I can see the potential already. You wont be complaining in the next 5-10 years about this, but rather complain if a game hasn’t implemented it.
Seems like a match made in heaven. Walking around in a world you built & fighting creepers in VR would be a blast, and a system seller.
Its weird to think that at a base level Facebook is asking Microsoft about making VR Minecraft.
I dont see microsoft refusing to put it on oculus rift. It will help to sell the device a microsoft can make back money they spent on it
