BioWare’s switch to the Frostbite 3 engine to create Dragon Age: Inquisition required the developer to build many of the game’s systems from scratch. However, Dragon Age producer Cameron Lee told Examiner that the foundations that the studio is building now will provide the groundwork for future games including the next entry of the Mass Effect series.
Lee confirmed that many of these same systems and tools that the Dragon Age: Inquisition team created will be used to help make the next Mass Effect game. Furthermore, many of the people who became intimately familiar with the Frostbite 3 engine will take their expertise with them as they begin work on the fourth installment of BioWare’s popular sci-fi franchise. With the system already in place and team members possessing better knowledge of the engine, Lee is sure that the developer will continue to make improvements towards their continue use of Frostbite 3 in the future.
