Justin from Controller Crusade discusses how Driveclub's broken multiplayer mode may spell an end to the franchise before it even begins.
I love Driveclub regardless of it's online problems when it launched, but I don't think it is much of a loss if there is never a sequel as long as they continue to support this game. Either way I want a new MotorStorm on PS4 from Evolution next
I'd love a new Motorstorm. That's why I really hope Evolution makes it out of this okay. I love me some Motorstorm.
Yup... should have just made a MotorStorm to get their feet wet on the new hardware before trying something too ambitious for themselves. Even a MotorStorm remaster with the 3 PS3 games upgraded with a cross-over MP mode would have been enough for them to get their crap together a bit better.
I love MotorStorm, i hope they make a new one.
The online is working right. It doesn't work perfectly, but it is working. As for the article, it's obvious the author doesn't have the game; "With the online portion of Driveclub not working for the first month, it hasn’t had a chance to build the initial online community, and with few (if any) people playing now, chances are not good that others will start playing in the future." The author is assuming that no one is playing the game. There are plenty of people playing the game. No matter how hard some people try, DriveClub isn't going anywhere.
Meh. It's not good enough to be worth the trouble IMO. It reviewed poorly and launched poorly. It has no depth or longevity to keep people waiting around. Motostorm sure. Driveclub, no. Project Cars will hopefully fill the void for ps4 gear heads. Server issues aside, DC doesn't come nearly close enough to satisfying proper race enthusiasts itch. It just has some cool cars that you can't do anything to and puts them in a few nicely rendered tracks. It's the Fisher-Price of AAA console racers. is it fun? For a period of time. Am I bored with it? Yup.
Speak for yourself instead of coming up with this crap about everybody else. How is an average of 72 with 20 at 8/10 or higher, poorly reviewed anyway?
13.5 million consoles Destiny reviewed poorly, but look how many people are playing it two months later. Just because you think the game sucks doesn't mean that it does. As a matter of fact, I don't even think you've played the game at all. You're entitled to your opinion, but please try to remember that's all it is, an opinion.
@IGiveHugs2NakedWomen Shipped not sold
I remember playing destiny online with 2 of my friends the day I bought it tho
@andibandit: And I remember playing DriveCLub offline the day I bought it. What's your point? Still been enjoying DriveClub. Still not seeing how it's as bad as most of the reviews say they are.
Not only have I played it, I know people who worked on it. That's how I got an advanced copy. Play a good racing game and then go back and play DC. You'll say "oh. I see now". Pretty graphics don't make a racing game good.
This is disgusting sensationalism... Is this satire?
Welcome to the world of reporting on Drive Club. Where the more over-the-top knee jerk sensationalist hyperbole opinions you can produce, the "better" your "articles" are.
I don't think it's the end. It has certainly been a bumpy beginning but it has potential to be an amazing racer, still. I think evolution studios to screw it a bit. Once they make a new motorstorm I will forgive them
Played last night , challenges are still in the 1000Km ranges impossible , I could not connect to the multiplayer races at all , my lap times do not reflect in the leaderboards , all are old entries. So , looks like the online is still a big mess.
I really want Evolution to add the challenges.. it’s been a whole month and still nothing. The online still needs work. I can’t play 2 consecutive races without having a disconnect issue, the time between races is too long, MP opponents skip across the track, impossible face offs, corner penalties are irritating.. I’m glad there are still people playing online. it’s a fun game when people are racing clean and not being D-bags.
Bring Back Tokyo Extreme Racer Franchise and be done with it. IT had the same "Club" concept except your racing as a Lone racer building his way to the charts by beating Car Clubs and Hwy leaders in street racing.
Shutokou Battle. I loved those games at the time. That brings back memories.
Lots of people commenting here but no one commenting on DriveClub being number 1 sale for ps in Europe in October. http://n4g.com/news/1617498...
and what benefits do you get for commenting?
Just like all of your comments. Useless.
Just pointing the fact that haters that don't even own the game (like you) come out from under their bridge on these doom article and not the other way around when an article showing the game is doing just fine.
From a buyers point of view. I was initially impressed and patient. But after weeks of poor online and erratic leaderboard updates this has died a death. Learnt my lesson on why never to go online purchasing - can't even trade it in.
Well the word is out, it mostly likely killed the IP. Too bad to, this game sure has a lot of potential. Plus I so hope they fix the driving mechanics it feels so broken and adjust the AI accordingly.
Article is pure clickbait. Anyone worth anything in racing games knows the offline is fantastic. So bogus. Gamers are embarrassing.
The offline is great I agree , but it only takes you so far and hold interest for so long.
Yes, the offline is good, but even that is affected by the broken face offs, and even they disappear whenever the connection to the server breaks, which is probably every 10-15 minutes.
"Anyone worth anything in racing games knows the offline is fantastic." lol If you like hotlaps and time trials then there is a decent offline game for you. If you like racing other cars then DriveClub is terrible offline, because the AI are barely worthy of that term.
we can say the same for new COD but hey...
still waiting for refund
They really need to fix the online. The community will be dead for this game when other driving games are released. The game looks stunning, and I like it alot... but the online issues are still there. I seem to remember BF4 taking months to be fixed.
