It looks better on 3DS, but by a very small margin. Considering that the original came out 15 years ago, that doesn't help the 3DS version's case much. It smells too much like Nintendo just got lazy, and instead of getting the full fledged remake we deserve, we're getting a glorified 3D port.

Before anyone starts crying about games like TLoU:R, and other titles of the like; those are all remasters. Ports. This game is getting treated like a remake. In reality, it's Nintendo showing how terrible they are now, but Nintendo spend too much time creaming their panties at everything Nintendo shows, rather than actually calling them out on their BS once in a while.

Actually, just like with Ocarina of Time 3D, they've done a fantastic job of updating the visuals while keeping a distinctively similar look to the original. Nice try, troll.

I think OoT3D looked a little better, dude

Kalebninja3456d ago

i actually agree with him on this. i'd rather play my gamecube version than get a slightly better one for 3ds. this game was one of my favorites and i was expecting it to get the treatment it deserved and what fans have asked for. after those two youtube guys showed off there little project of how majoras mask would look on a current gen console i'm horrifically dissapointed.

OtakuDJK1NG-Rory3456d ago (Edited 3456d ago )

didn't know Link look the same in MM on N64

deafdani3456d ago

Nope, this is also a remaster, just like Ocarina 3D was.

And it's way too soon to judge. All we've seen of this game was a single trailer. Nintendo actually made pretty good remasters with Ocarina 3D, Starfox 64 3D, and especially Zelda Wind Waker HD.

OtakuDJK1NG-Rory3456d ago

Didn't know the original had Master Quest and Boss Battles Mode.

deafdani3456d ago

@OtakuDJK1ing: I don't understand your point.

Long live the n64 version of anything (but that damn Superman game)
But don't get it twisted I am a 3ds supporter (the original)

rivencleft3456d ago

Loved Ocarina of Time on N64 but never got to play Majora's Mask, perfect timing considering I finally decided to give the 3DS XL a buy.

Skate-AK3456d ago

I played it a couple times as a kid but there was a part I always got stuck on. Happy to here this. Don't have a 3DS but it will give me a reason to buy one. Been wanting OoT 3D for a while too.

rivencleft3456d ago

I haven't purchased a 3DS just yet, was waiting to see if they brought the new model to the US before I slammed down $200. But it is an awesome bonus now that I'll finally be able to play Majora's Mask, it's one of the only Zelda games I've never had chance to play (other than Link Between Worlds). Ocarina of Time and A Link to the Past have and always will be my favorites though. I remember getting the SNES bundle with Link to the Past (brand new) when I was like 8 or 9 years old and I played that game non-stop for an entire summer. I still play both now and then on Wii and Wii U, always great to go back to the classics and still remember every area of the map.

I am a huge Zelda fan and love them all, but for me Ocarina Of Time is the greatest and my second all time favourite game after Final Fantasy VII.

LoveSpuds613d ago (Edited 613d ago )

You sir, have good taste in games :)

I also love all of the Zelda games but I adore Windwaker (Specifically the HD version on WiiU) most of all. It is a close run thing with Breath of the Wild though.

Special mention to Cadence of Hyrule too, what an awesome spin off title that was!

GaboonViper612d ago

Cheers Spuds, yep i love Windwaker too, beautiful artstyle, and i loved sailing and finding all the secrets out there.

blackbeld612d ago

Agreed. For me top 3 of all time is.

1. ocarina of time
2. Final fantasy Vll
3. MGS1

GaboonViper612d ago

Brilliant top 3, would love a MGS1 remake that has been rumoured.

LoveSpuds612d ago

Yup, hard to argue with that top 3 squire, some quality games right there!

-Foxtrot614d ago

Oh gee can't imagine what Number 1 is

....

A Link to the Past, Ocarina of Time and Wind Waker etc is better than Breath of the Wild.

lockedongamer1614d ago

I respectfully disagree, but they're all great games.

porkChop614d ago

I think it really depends on what you're looking for. If you want a traditional Zelda game then OoT or WW would be better to you. But if you want a Zelda game that really leans into adventure and exploration, and if you want intelligent systems/logic, BotW would be the better game.

I enjoy both. I understand why some people aren't fond of it but for me it was a breath of fresh air that I really needed. I'd become so burnt out on unimaginative games and BotW sort of made me appreciate games again, as weird as that may sound.

godofboobees613d ago

Those are not traditional Zelda games

Crows90612d ago

Right...so let's pretend ocarina of time didnt have exploration, secret dungeons and other secrets. Complex boss mechanics and exploration rewards. At least a traditional Zelda has dungeons.

porkChop612d ago

What point are you attempting to make? At no point did I say that OoT didn't have any of that. However, the level of exploration and sense of adventure are vastly different between OoT and BotW.

Brazz613d ago

Breath of the Wild is overrated as shot, Wind waker is much better.

P_Bomb613d ago

I’m a Link to the Past guy.

MadLad613d ago

Majora's Mask still holds as my favorite to this day, despite being the black sheep of the series.

pietro1212613d ago

I love them all, but Wind Walker, Link to the Past and Minish Cap are my favorites

John_McClane612d ago

Link to the Past was so, so good! Those chickens though! 🤣

The Nintendo 3DS Is Still Totally Worth It Ten Years Later

Half-Glass Gaming: "Production of the 3DS has been discontinued as of September of 2020, but there’s definitely an argument to be made for adopting the system in 2021, especially if you just really like playing awesome video games."
