Halo: The Master Chief Collection Review | Part 1: The Campaigns [Dealspwn]

Dealspwn writes: "Halo: The Master Chief Collection is magnificent. Unprecedented. Masterful, even. It's thirteen years of console FPS history in a single package: Halo 1-4 tweaked and remastered with all of the local co-op, optional skulls, new skill and time challenges, levels, stages, secrets, live-action series and a massive multiplayer suite spanning 100+ maps, brought together into one cohesive experience. Halo 2 pushes the boat out even further with an Anniversary Edition boasting all-new textures, tweaks and gorgeous cutscenes. When it comes to HD Collections and re-releases, we may be looking at nothing less than the new platinum benchmark.

Unfortunately, it's also not all there, and I mean that very literally. The multiplayer suite and numerous performance tweaks aren't included on the disc, rather they have to be downloaded via a massive 15GB patch... which was only released 24 hours ago.

Giving the Master Chief Collection a score at this stage would be hilariously unethical, then, and I'd raise an eyebrow at any site attempting to do so."

I really want an Xbox One for this.

Heh, yeah, though in fairness it might not be worth getting one *specifically* for this seeing as you'll probably own most if not all of these games anyway (and they're backwards compatible with X360.

If you're already excited about Forza Horizon 2 and Sunset Overdrive, though, this might tip you over the edge!

It's that Guardians beta, though. And Sunset Overdrive. And Forza. And Dead Rising 3. And Titanfall on console (have it on PC, but I'd play it so much more on console).

@FuzzyPizels: Yeah, I'm glad I got the Xbox One first - the exclusives have been fantastic and the MCC is the cherry on the cake. I'm loving the platform and Spencer's valiant attempts to make it all about the games. Then again, if you get it now, you'll pay so much less than I did at launch AND get free games into the bargain!

Sold.

This gens Orange Box but better. I laugh at a 15GB patch - no problems.

You can play the campaigns while it's downloading too - Halo 4 downloads first, then Halo 1-3.

Sums it all up. Sony payed sites given the game a score without taking into the account the biggest selling point of the game the multiplayer.
