Nintendo’s Reggie Fils-Aime on Holiday Strategy, Call of Duty and Mobile Games - Interview

"With a profitable quarter finally on the books after years of losses, all eyes are on Nintendo to see if it can do it again this holiday season.

If this is the start of a real comeback for the once-dominant Japanese gaming company, we won’t know for sure anytime soon, but Nintendo of America president and COO Reggie Fils-Aime is focused on the next three months right now. In a wide-ranging interview with Re/code, Fils-Aime explained what, exactly, Nintendo is up to these days and how it’s reacting to the changing gaming landscape.

The following interview has been edited for brevity and clarity."

The story is too old to be commented.

When do we get the Iwatabo's & Areggiebo's for use with the Wii U ?

Acutally an interesting interview and a good read.

I agree but I think he should have asked a little more about whether or not they are interested in merging in home and mobile gaming. Whether Reggie would have answered it would have been interesting to see what he would have said about it. But in the end this was a good interview.

Its sad how Sony and Microsoft praise all the other consoles in the market while Nintendo rep always says Choose me over the other guys because of our exclusives. Nintendo is all me, me, me thats why they are losing.

When does anyone else praise the other console? Even so I know some Nintendo reps that say they own other systems.

Also, is it not his job to tell consumers why they should invest? That is his job. It would be dumb to say, "I really like XX about console feature we don't have, you can't get that here." You are supposed to say your strengths about your systems, and the biggest wii u strength IS it's exclusives. With the Wii u being the lowest selling Nintendo home console, it is good that they are telling people why they should get a wii u instead of breezing over it.

jayzablade1534d ago

Yeah that must be why they're 'losing'
Personally, I believe I'm winning...I own a Wii U and a 360, therefore I get to play all the new games released on the 360 (let's face it, not as if there are that many outstanding exclusives on the One) and it get to play awesome Nintendo games!!

Sony praises console?

They never did for Wii U. Yoshida has two but that doesn't mean the entirety of Sony feel the same. Have you ever heard of anyone outside of Yoshida praises Nintendo.

Need remind you of Jack Tretton's Wii, GBA and DS remark.
Wii U gamepad being irrelevant because they think Vita does it with remote play.

If anything Reggie stay promoting his systems while Sony love taking jabs at others. What Yoshida has at home or love playing others system does imply to the entirety of Sony.

Miyamoto commented on Vita saying a great device but software isn't making it out to be for the masses.

Reggie should have run for the Senate, he speaks like a politician, 80% BS and 20% crap. I prefer honest answers, like in the interviews with Phil Spencer and Shuhei Yoshida.
