UGO: Red Alert 3 Preview

UGO writes: "Command & Conquer introduced a number of gamers to the addictive RTS genre, but with it's number of branching series (Tiberium Wars, Generals) and the release of killers like Warcraft the franchise seemed to lose the core audience it had gained. The exceptions to this case come in the form of the Red Alert series. When the first title dropped in 1996, players were surprised by the somewhat novel idea of an alternate history. The Red Alert series all starts with Albert Einstein traveling back in time to kill Adolf Hitler, thereby circumventing the second World War. Of course, things didn't go as planned and the Allies soon found themselves face to face with Stalin's unchecked Soviet power in an alternate World War 2.

It's now been nearly 8 years since Red Alert's hugely successful sequel, and this year Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 is looking to lure the masses back for yet another look at the alternate history/future (and its classic live-action cutscenes). And you know what? Things have changed in a pretty big way. And that's not even counting the introduction of a new world power: The Empire of the Rising Sun."

Top 10 Worst Video Game Sequels

Alex S. from Link-Cable writes: "A while ago we counted down the very best video game sequels of all time and so we decided to flip the table and look at the very worst sequels ever made. These 10 games started out by building up our hype to extreme levels only to shatter our dreams and break out hearts once we got our hands on them and so we’re calling these out as the worst sequels ever made."

Dragon age 2 was not a bad game, just a terrible sequel if that makes any sense. Should have been it's own IP.

I loved Dragon Age II. I even got the platinum trophy for it. That was the very first medieval themed fantasy RPG that I enjoyed aside from an Ultima game I played in the early 90's at a cousins house.

Not that it was a bad game, just not a fair successor to DAO.

NapalmSanctuary2659d ago

Surely Twisted Metal 3&4 have earned a place on this list.

Lord of Shadows 2 was one that left me scratching my head because I loved the first one! Red Faction Armageddon was another one that I still wonder why they didn't just give us something more like Guerrilla.

Halo Wars 2 and 5 Strategy Games for Console That Also Weren't Rubbish

OX writes: "Halo Wars 2 is a Halo game in which instead of controlling one big space soldier, you control lots of little space soldiers from high above the battlefield. It's a real-time strategy game, yes. But aren't strategy games on consoles always terrible? Not always, as we discover in Show of the Week."
