The ORIGINAL Playstation wsa dubbed the big loser of launches(and it turned out horribly, huh?).

And the PS3 is reported to have launched with 13 games.

With the Wii having the worst "Next-Gen Launch" and the 360 having the best. But even that being said, you are seeing a lot of articles that suggest the Wii is more fun to play, and the PS3 is more frustrating... what does a good or bad launch REALLY mean besides bad press? And why do we as gamers care about bad press?

I used to be a big fan of yours, Mart, but the fanboy fanaticism has risen to new heights since the PS3 actually came out. I need you to calm down a little bit and realize that the Playstation 3 sucking or not sucking will not change your life or alter your 360 gaming.

I love my 360, and I like my movies on my PS3, but the rise or fall of one is not going to affect the other in my eyes(and unless it is a fall like the Dreamcast which really sucked).

I think we can all agree that the PS3 launch has been a disappointment. Extremely limited number of consoles, lackluster games...and it can't be said Sony didn't have time to prepare for this.

As for the Wii, there appears to be a few good games (Zelda, Trauma Center), but the Wii gets a little more slack for not being overly hyped.

As for the 360's launch, there's still games I play from it. I liked Kameo, PGR3 was a good racer, COD2 I feel is better than COD3. PDZ was okay, but not great. Needed another 6 months of polish. There were bad games too, basically Xbox ports.

But I'm disappointed with Sony. Maybe in a year that will fade, but this launch has not changed my opinion of the PS3...that it was designed as a blu-ray player first, game console second.

I'm an American and I was first in line to pre-order PS2 at my local Gamestop before it was released. I have hundreds of PS1 and PS2 games that I was looking forward to playing on PS3 because my PS2 laser died from being used as a movie player. With

the high price,

all the 'features' that I am not going to use for a few years, if ever,

store display units that are frozen or turned off because they don't work,

underdelivering on their launch promise,
sixaxis instead of rumble,

the slippery plastic case that you have to dust off every 5 minutes just like on the PSP,

Blu-Ray which is expensive crap that I care nothing about. I am happy with regular DVD.

A Blu Ray player with the potential to trap a disc inside or that refuses to pull the disc in,

a 380 watt power draw with an internal power supply. All that heat must do wonders for the circuits.

Having to buy an adapter to use PS2/PS1 memory cards

The promised full backwards compatibility disappearing

Launch games that suck. At least Nintendo came out with a killer app right out of the gate.

They probably won't make a good showing for X-mas in N. America and will miss X-mas completely in Europe.

PS3 uses too much of it's resources for overhead. At the end of the day, 360 has more power for games.

Cross platform games don't look better on PS3, despite Sony's claims to have the most powerful system.

360 has the most games out NOW and the '07 lineup looks better for 360.

Porting games to and from the PC is much easier with 360 making it a dream for programmers.

Developing for PS3 is more expensive because of the more difficult learning curve involved. It is going to be the N64 cartridge situation all over again possibly making PS3 games more expensive.

Watching movies on your game console destroys your hardware. I lost my PS2 to this. A lot of people aren't going to be too happy a year from now when their Blu Ray player burns up from watching too many films.

Do I really need to go on with more reasons why PS3 is not going to win this time around?? I am not a fanboy of any system. I bought 360 this time around because of the dictates of common sense. XBox was my secondary system last time around. I really tried hard to convince myself that I needed a PS3, but I just couldn't do it like I did when PS2 was released.

I think you have a point, a bad launch doesn't imply that its a "bad" console or that it will fail, so I'm not going to beat on the PS3 for its launch performance, although I do have to admit it makes me laugh when I think of all the Sonyfanboys (not you) that "bashed" the 360 for so long, because they believed that PS3 would be so much better. Seriously, the thing that I think has 'caused Sony so many problems IMO has got to be the decision to go with Blu-ray. Now before you think I'm just bashing, Im not, my point is, is that BD are a nice feature, but I think it has too much downside and it has caused Sony to lose focus this whole last year....I think they would have had better launch games, better online, better PR, and definitely alot more launch units without Blu-ray....yes larger disk space is great for long term, but when?...I don't see it playing a huge role for 2 or 3 yrs from now, if at all and by then in a yr. or two they will be trying to "catch up" with the pending arrival of the next xbox and Nintendo offering....so the upside doesn't seem like it was worth it IMO.

Before TGS everybody thought 1up was pro-360, and after TGS a bunch of 360 fans felt betrayed because suddenly the site was saying positive things about PS3. The authors on the site simply say what they want, and seem to make fairly good judgements. You can call them Pro-Sony, but they're also the ones that gave Gears a 10/10 (after 4 paragraphs of complaints).

i agree.bluray was not necessary as a game feature.i have the copy of the will ferrel(however you spell his name)movie.it's still unopened.don't plan on watching it.but something tells me the games still wouldn't have been ready for a spring launch.so sony said"what the hey,put it in".i didn't need the web browser,the memory card slots,bluray.but since it's there i'll use it(two out of three are already being used).just like when dreamcast had planetweb and the vmu.i used them but the vmu battery didn't last.i downloaded things for games like jet grind,shenmue and skies of arcadia.even checked online.

people said 360 had a terrible launch.it had a lot of hickups.but it's doing well now.i still can't see how a mega corporation doesn't put most of their resources into taking on all comers instead of just getting their feet wet.microsoft has the money.i still don't see why microsoft supports hd-dvd.when they said "we are not taking sides."it's obviously directed at sony just like sony is going head to head with pc.it was never "sony gaming incorporated." it was sony computer entertainment since ps1.microsoft saw that as a threat.

after seeing both and now having played both and the potential of both,it's back to what i do best as a gamer:play games.whatever the system may be.but i still think this site is onesided on views when all game companies aren't perfect,spread the truth,misrepresent and don't care about us one way or the other.

I tried motorstorm and NBA 07 on the PS3 demo machine, and I thought they were more of the same. It was nothing new to the table, so called next generation for $600 that's not worth it at the moment. I told my friend that the PS3 would start out slow, but he was too much of a PS3 fan to believe me. I'm going tell the truth as it is. The Xbox360 might have a good chance at winning the console war,because it's easier to develop games on it, which means more games coming over to the 360. Sony has to come up with a plan to take back the crown for it's PS3.

Everyone now knows that the xbox 360 had a much better next gen launch than the ps3. Its no longer a a question. Its a Fact now. Thats why I say the War is over. All sony fanboys had was hope. Now their hopes have been squashed. The 360 had a better launch PERIOD. The ps3 has no AAA games at launch that average 90 or better. Resistance is in the 8's on average. Just about all of the 360 launch games were 8's and 9's with the lowest getting a 6. So there shouldn't been any more arguements about which console is better. Its true that the 360 holds the crown for the BEST FPS's on the gaming market. But thats not all it has in terms of AAA titles. Count em boys....24. High 8's and 9's. The same games that sony fanboys would bash. And now lookie at them. They can't even squeeze out a 9. Thats sad. And I can see why they get so defensive and upset when the console they bragged about for a year has failed misserably. In terms of sales and game performance in this next gen. MS set the bar really high and I don't think Sony will ever be able to catch up. Many sony fans are now in the HOPE mode. HOPE that the ps3 will be something special. The funny thing is....the moment I first played the 360.....I knew it was somthing special. And it continues to impress and get better and better. I never could have dreamed a game like Gears of War would exist within a year. I was blown away by Call of Duty 2 and Perfect Dark in HD. Gears of War is out of this world. I have never seen a game that even comes close to the amount of detail and just PURE fun that, that game has. Will the ps3 ever have a AAA game that is on the level of Gears of War? Many can wish....but who really knows with its limitted ram capablilities. We will have to see. As beautiful as Gears is....There is much more and much better coming in 2007 for the 360. And thats exciting given the fact that its 200 dollars less than the Ps3. Thanks Microsoft.

The article said the worst launch line up award is for the Wii. Yes the new redesigned GAMECUBE with the new controller. 73.8 to 77 is not that much of a difference to say the 360 has the best launch line up ever you fanatics. I admit it, at first the PS3 launch line seems better than the 360 but given some developers issues it ended being worst, but not that incredible worst.
