Why The Last of Us Should Not Be Made Into A Damn movie

It’s no secret that games have had a terrible run when it comes to movie adaptations. Just look at the stinking beast that is the long-running Resident Evil series, the hilariously bad live action first person shootout in the movie Doom, or anything by that cretin Uwe Boll… but that’s almost a different story altogether.

The story is too old to be commented.

Because the game was a movie itself, that's how good it was! :)

AndrewLB1450d ago

They shouldn't make a movie because it already exists. Go watch Dawn of the Dead (2005), The Walking Dead, and I Am Legend... then play TLOU again. Same thing.

ufo8mycat1450d ago (Edited 1450d ago )

You are joking right?

TLOU has a much better story/character development between the 2 main characters and what they go through and the struggles between right & wrong and how far you would go to keep your loved one alive, which is brilliantly told

Dawn of the Dead on the other hand... yeah please lol

Army_of_Darkness1450d ago

Worse movie comparison ever... I doubt you even played it comparing TLOU to dawn of the dead and I am Legend lol! Cause if you played it you would see that it's like the movie "the road" but with zombies...

TFJWM1450d ago

Jeez Waterworld would be a better comparison then those 3...

OT: It can easily be made into a good move, the question really is will it be.

The Last Of Us is much more than a story about surviving an infectious outbreak, it's a story that's centered around two characters; Joel, a pragmatic, calculating man who lost his soul after the death of his only child. Then there's Ellie, a young girl with a potty mouth and knack for sarcasm who begins to look to Joel for direction, guidance, and learning how to survive in a world filled with tragedy and violence. Trying to compare Dawn Of The Dead, The Walking Dead, and I Am Legend to TLOU's story is ridiculous. The only similarity in all of these stories is that the population of the planet is decimated by an infection. Another thing comes to mind while I respond to your post, YOU HAVEN'T PLAYED THE GAME AT ALL!!!

bangoskank1449d ago

I agree 100% with Naught Dogs. The Last of Us was an interactive movie experience and one of the best films I watched last year.

Andrew, you're movie comparisons are way off. Did you just pull those out of your ass because they have zombies in them? If anything The Last of Us is similar to The Road and Children of Men.

LordMaim1449d ago

That would be like comparing Halo to Universal Soldier.

There's an implication in your statement that movies are inherently better than games. They're not. I'm not sure if it was your intended to imply that.

ramiuk11450d ago

if there is one game that could be made into a movie itwoul be either last of us or uncharted series.
just because the characters already have that real/movie cast feel.
with an amaaxing movie style plot.
its the move to game that fails.

i feel if the movie isnt all that great it will cheapen hype for the next last of us game in the future. is true cause it might for me. everything bout the first game is perfect enough to build me up for a sequel
. period

People forget that Sony is also a filmmaking and music recording/publishing company and is a strong player in those industries as well.

This is why Sony's Naughty Dog was able to produce ground breaking video games like Uncharted and The Last of Us that brilliantly married top quality video game making with cinematic movie magic like no other studio in the world. Turning top dogs' heads at Hollywood to see the renewed potential of games-to-movies like comics-to-movies are doing.

Naughty Dog full well made use of Sony's resources, connections, facilities and movie and music making personnel to produce these one of a kind experiences that launched a thousand more.

Now its Sony's turn to return the favor to millions of video gamers around the world by making movies that adhere to what makes video games great experiences.

Currently in production under Sony's production are:
Shadow of the Colossus
God of War
Metal Gear Solid
Ratchet and Clank
The Last of Us
Gran Turismo

See how the Naughty Gods praise a fan made film of Uncharted

"Uncharted" movie release date is set to June 10, 2016.

Whether we like it or not franchises are bottom line businesses that Sony needs to capitalize on to keep these intellectual properties growing in different form or medium.

Video games and movies needs to coexist harmoniously for the good of many. And if there is anyone that has the chops do it ... its Sony.

Why your opinion doesn't matter

FullmetalRoyale1450d ago

I'm mocking you, not agreeing with you btw.

Everybody has the right to express their opinion, it's the internet.

martinezjesus19931450d ago

I would like to see it made into a tv series. That way it wont get limited into 2 hours.

Jaqen_Hghar1450d ago

It would just turn into a walking dead clone albeit with more exciting infected)

TFJWM1450d ago

Agreed but if the movie does well, easy enough for a TV series about it. Ish anyone...

martinezjesus19931450d ago

I was thinking the same thing, but as you said, the infected are actually something ti be feared, not the boring old zombies in The Walking Dead.

CervantesPR11450d ago

i just think they are going to mess it up
