Sunset Overdrive’s traversal system is what makes it fun

Some critics have described Sunset Overdrive as “Infamous meets Tony Hawk,” and while this statement isn’t far from the truth, I’d instead use two different video games to describe Insomniac’s latest title. Sunset Overdrive is Dreamcast classic Jet Grind Radio with a dash of Crackdown and an ounce of Saints Row IV’s self-awareness.

If the grinding and stuff wasn't in this game, I don't think I would have scored it as high as I did.

Pandamobile1548d ago

The grinding and stuff is the core gameplay, dude. Without that it would have been an entirely different game.

The grinding is the core gameplay and if you take that away l..just like Jet Grind Radio, then of course it will be a different game. That is like playing a FPS without guns.

Dan_scruggs1548d ago

If you couldn't play this game with a controller and stuff I don't think it would have scored as high as it did.

tastas211548d ago

This is just a bad version of infamous. You want grinding? play tony hawk or go to a club lol.

I love inFamous, but treat Sunset Overdrive as its own game. It's an excellent title and something that really shows what we all know Insomniac is capable of. Please try it out, if you haven't.

i'm having more fun so far than i had with second son , not sure if i'd say its better than the original infamous yet , but it sure is fun . i love if you leave the controller alone for while he looks pissed , this game has allot of polish and little touches .

hello121548d ago

lol you sad x box games are getting reviewed good?

OpieWinston1548d ago

Play Tony Hawk? Considering the fact that Tony Hawks studio was closed down.

Neversoft is gone.

And I don't think you've played Sunset Overdrive. It's a lot more intense but also easier to pick up.

Bad version of Infamous? Yeah you haven't played Sunset Overdrive...

No_Limit1548d ago (Edited 1548d ago )

How can you even compare the two? Infamous is a single player only game and SSOD has a multiplayer mode of up to 8 players. The repeatability alone trumps anything infamous ever (in this case, never) bought to the table.

I did once owned infamous SS, while it is a good game, it is one and done after I beat it twice with being good and evil.

WeAreLegion1548d ago

I guess you completely missed out on inFamous 2.

FullmetalRoyale1548d ago

Point me to the nearest Tony Hawk game on PS4, or Xbox1.

What's that? There isn't one? So what you said was complete bs?

Okay man, if you say so.

OT: I am truly envious that this game is not on my platform of choice, however I am thrilled to see Insomniac return to form. It's good to have you back, guys!

lemoncake1548d ago

You should have got an x1, then you wouldn't need to cry.

u4one1548d ago (Edited 1548d ago )

I think if we are going to compare it to Infamous, SSO is a better game. Its more action packed, more chaotic, more ridiculous, no painful dialog that takes itself entirely too seriously. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed Infamous and I finished it, but while Sunset Overdrive has some similarities, it isn't quite the same. Its faster and crazier and actually seems just more fun. and its like theres a perpetual horde mode happening, waiting to destroy you if you linger around an area too long.

Okay... I'll get on that.

mediate-this1548d ago

I get a dead rising feel from this game rather than an infamous.

bleedsoe9mm1548d ago

its more infamous than dead rising , in my opinion

tgunzz1548d ago

This game is wickedly fun/exciting/intense... It's so chaotic, and traversing is sick (parkour on another level). I highly recommend it for all gamers! Insomniac has hit a home run!!! Game on.
