This game is seriously making me considering getting an Xbox One. Looks like Insomniac Games is back to doing what they do best.

There's a lot of hype for this considering it's comparable to inFamous Second Son. Which isn't a bad thing..but I don't remember hearing any of this hype for Second Son. Regardless, this was a great review and it puts things into perspective.

rbailey1549d ago

There definitely are some similarities between the two, but this clearly isn't Infamous: Second Son. Second Son has a much more serious tone in nature, while the humor in this game is the main driving point behind the series. Either both titles are great and fans should def invest in both if they haven't already.

Romudeth1549d ago

How is this comparable to Second Son? Just because it has you riding on rails? That's a weak comparison.

SwiffEpics1549d ago

This whole game is the same type of approach as inFamous. When I first saw the gameplay the first thing I thought (and I know I'm not alone) is about inFamous.

It would have been interesting if Sony dropped Second Son this Autumn/Fall instead of in March. The comparisons would have been undeniable. People forgot that Second Son exists now...even though it's a clear GOTY contender.

Team_Litt1549d ago

Because releasing at the same time as Forza Horizon 2 worked out great for DriveClub's reviews right?!

What do Sony fans want? You compare games for months on end and when the games release and your favorite is of lesser quality you whine that reviewers are comparing too much and should judge games in isolation.

Then this gem of a game releases months after one of the games you previously compared it to and you whine it isn't being compared enough to it?

Romudeth1549d ago

When I see this game I don't see inFAMOUS: Second Son at all. This game isn't even made by Sucker Punch. If you're going to compare it to anything, compare it to Ratchet & Clank.

SwiffEpics1549d ago

You must be smoking that Heisenberg meth. Only thing comparable to R&C is the selection of weapons probably.

I wouldn't be surprised if Don Matrick himself walked into Insomniac (when he was still with MS) and asked for a querky inFamous clone.

Volkama1549d ago

But infamous was already an attempt to copy crackdown. Why would MS ask a 3rd party to copy the copy of their own game?

Kingdomcome2471549d ago

I kind of agree. The humor, zany characters, grinding, weapons, vibrant color palette, and the way all the OD comes to you automatically like the bolts did in Ratchet&Clank.

Torque_CS_Lewith1549d ago (Edited 1549d ago )

Killzone and Halo are comparable. PASBR and Smash Bros are comparable. Uncharted and Unearthed are comparable. God of War and Dante's Inferno are comparable. Batman and Aquaman no

Do you get where I am going with this buddy? Just because games are comparable does not mean they are of the same quality.

I can't cry that Killer Instinct is not getting as much hype and praise as Mortal Kombat 9 did just because they are comparable. Being similar does not automatically elevate a game to the status of the higher quality product.

In short, it is the OPINION of most reviewers that SSO is better than I:SS, simply put.

I feel like one shouldn't have to explain what I just explained!

SwiffEpics1549d ago

You're making this a Sony vs other platform thing. I wasn't. I was just pointing out that too games looked comparable, yet only one of them got overhyped.

Masterchief_thegoat1549d ago

@swiffepics no he not.. love kz plat every kz series but halo is a better series cant wait mcc 4000 acheivement here I come..

Romudeth1549d ago

You're going into conspiracy town right now, man. You're just looking to hate on any Xbox exclusive game. Let them have their shine for once! This game looks cool and NOTHING like inFAMOUS.

BlackTar1871549d ago

LOL no matter what game comes out on XBox it's the most shine a game can get. Every single game on Xbox one is OMG the best ever so far. yet we still have the not so full online titanfall that was reassured to everyone was the greatest next gen MP game EVER sinc like forever and ever

Software_Lover1549d ago

when you saw Infamous, did you think, Jet Set Radio?

Infamous did not invent that style of play or genre, I guess it made it more known.

SwiffEpics1549d ago

I didn't say it invented anything.

GarrusVakarian1549d ago

I'm not getting the comparisons to Infamous: all.

I mean, I can kinda understand it if you played Infamous: SS while high on LSD the entire time. But if not, then how are people making that comparison? You can't even grind on stuff in I:SS.

hello121549d ago

[email protected] mean, I can kinda understand it if you played Infamous: SS while high on LSD the entire time.

lol had to laugh at that spot on really.

Volkama1549d ago

They're open world, and you are more agile than a typical gta protagonist. That's about it for commonality.

gangsta_red1549d ago

Really, because I remember a lot of hype for Infamous SS and how gorgeous and alive it looks. There were a bunch of articles about the game here on N4G and Sony was pushing it hard because it was during a month when nothing else exciting was releasing.

I wonder why everyone tends to think that no Sony game is hyped but everything from MS is "over" hyped?

Profexxion1548d ago

The correct comparison is Crackdown.

To me this game remind me of a xbox360 game call crackdown combine with Ratchet and Clank.

Venomousfatman1549d ago

I played this at E3 2014. And it was awesome. Glad to see what I saw back then stayed and got even better in the final release. Everyone should check it out.
