There's been plenty of discussion recently about the state of the PSP market – both from other publishers and from Sony itself – so when Pocket Gamer had the opportunity to catch up with Zeno Colaço, vice president of publisher and developer relations for Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, they thought it only fair to get his opinions on the burning topics of the day.
This will be the first time the original 1993 arcade Ridge Racer has appeared on home consoles.
I hear rumors that Evercade may also be getting a Namco Arcade cart with RR and Tekken on it. That would be sweet as their previous Namco Console carts have also recently been updated to work on the VS. Previously, they only had the license to the handheld. so the OG Evercade and the EXP and even the Alpha were supported, but not the VS.

Sales of games in the Devil May Cry franchise have surged as a result of the new anime adaptation's success. DMC 4, DMC 5, and the DMC HD Collection have all reentered Steam's Global Top Sellers. Devil May Cry 5's player count jumped from around 2,000 concurrent players to just over 13,500 players in the span of a few days. Devil May Cry 4 and the Devil May Cry HD Collection have also seen similar sales boosts in the past week.
The success of the Devil May Cry anime adaptation—and to a lesser extent, the Onimusha TV series—serves as early proof the company's multimedia expansion strategy in action, showcasing how Capcom is leveraging its game IPs beyond consoles and into streaming platforms.
Lol, well... Better late than never, I suppose. It's a wonderful series. Devil May Cry V was truly something special (despite my small nitpick on the overuse of one particular level.) I still think it's probably the best action game ever made. Not sure if I'll check out the anime but I've been rocking with the games since the start of the series.
Deserved, DMC is peak hack and slash, and despite it's awareness, the sales numbers should be higher imo for what it does.
I really was expecting to hate this show with Nero voicing Dante and all the changes they made, but cringe forced cussing aside, I really enjoyed the hell out of it.
I am guilty as of yesterday lol I bought the HD collection on Playstation and the definitive edition of DmC for 20 bucks yesterday. Granted, I already own them on PC and Physically and just wanted a convenient spot because I was planning on doing a sit down at the TV playthrough with my son.
Then I realized I could just use my Asus rog(offline mode) and Steamdeck we play our own games at the same time. And I give him tips as we play through them. I will likely do DmC on the PS4 though because that doesn't play the best on steamdeck. Otherwise we would play in my office on my ps5 pro or gaming desktop. That is to cluttered though....
Anyways, I'm super excited to go home and play DMC1 with my son tonight!
10 years for Ps3 and PSP? Well, I guess they need to in order to make up for their recent woes in profit. Then again, if you look at the growth of the system you can clearly see they are on a steady climb.
1st year loss - 2.6 billion
2nd year loss - 1.3 billion
I look for their total loss projection for their 3rd year, which won't be until next november, to be at dead even. I think November of next year is when Sony starts making massive ammounts of that money back.
Sony's doing good.
The DS is way WAY ahead. But thats not important. Sony should get serious about GAMES on the PSP, nothing else. The DS didnt get to where it is now by enticing people with Skype or GPS. They have cellphones that do both of those, ALOT better. I want GAMES for my PSP. Games that are great online and offline. Hell, they could make alot of money with an awesome FPS or MMO.
Bottom line, I want my PSP to earn its place in my pocket. Until then, i'll still loan it out to friends, so they can try it out.
If the DS is beating the PSP now, then imagine the damage the DS2 could do! 6 years? maybe. 7? I'm not holding my breath. But 10? Don't count on it.
Now don't get me wrong, I do like the PSP. But Sony'll need to put a PS2P out there in order to compete :)
With the introduction of trophies, if they where brought to PSP games so that they added onto your PSN account, as well as features like being able to sign in to your account and view friends lists etc(not remote play) then I reckon PSP sales in hardware and software would boost incredibly.
Just my thoughts
What the PSP needs is wireless access to the PSP store with a much bigger catalogue of free demos, cheap PS1 conversions and budget downloadable versions of PSP classics (similar to what has been done with Wipeout Pure and Killzone Liberation).
Besides that, Sony needs to convince some third party developers that the machine is not such a big risk. Sony's first party line up for the PSP is exceptional (God of War, Patapon, Ratchet and Clank, Wipeout Pulse etc) but the big third party releases are slowing down and if SOny isn't careful, the PSP could end up doing a Gamecube.
Which would be a shame as its a great little machine. A price cut and better digital delivery could really give the PSP the boost it needs.
