Writing for Continue Play, head of Rubicon Development, Paul Johnson, disusses a major problem facing most indie developers today - getting your game noticed in an increasingly crowded marketplace.
"Focusing on mobile for a moment, how many apps and games do you think were released to the App Store yesterday? You probably think it’s a lot, right? Ten?, fifty?, a hundred? Not even close. According to this chart, there were over a thousand released yesterday. There were about a thousand released the day before. There’ll be another thousand tomorrow."
Triverse writes, "Ah, the turn based strategy game. Why have so many publishers forsaken thee on mobile? A once proud genre with many quality releases per year is now a trickle of its former self. That is fine though as we finally have Rubicon Development’s Epic Little War Game."
Rubicon's co-founder criticises former publisher as indie studio reclaim IP rights to its acclaimed strategy title.
Josh Baumann writes: "Rubicon Development have announced today that their entire library of mobile games will be free for iOS (and $0.99 for Android) this weekend.
The studio is best known for their BAFTA-nominated Great War Games turn-based strategy series, which debuted in 2011 to overwhelmingly positive reviews. Great Little War Games 2, the series’ most recent instalment, was released in June."
