In this in-depth Q&A developmag.com chat with Treyarch's Noah Heller and Richard Farrelly about the studio's work on the latest Call of Duty game, the WWII-set World at War…
Huzaifa from eXputer: "2008 was home to the likes of Call of Duty: World at War, Dead Space, GTA 4, Far Cry 2, Left 4 Dead, and many other hits, which is outright remarkable."
Just about every year in the 7th generation was great and something we most likely won't experience again.
2009 for example had Assassin's Creed 2, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Dragon Age: Origins, Uncharted 2, Halo 3: ODST, Killzone 2, Borderlands, Bayonetta, and Demon's Souls to name a few.
A very devoted fan of Call of Duty: World at War racks up incredible in-game stats while playing regularly for the past 15 years.
Of course you will hit a ridiculous stat after 15 of anything.
My main character for Everquest had over 500 days played in the first 6 years of the game. I was young then and had a lot of time on my hands. I don’t think I could duplicate that again until I retire and not sure I could match it if I tried.
Gamespot : Call of Duty: Vanguard launches with 20 multiplayer maps, three of which are actually remakes from 2008's Call of Duty: World at War. Let's take a look at how the maps have changed with this side-by-side comparison.
This is why the industry never evolves but once every 5 to 6 years. Companies like this. Don't use their engine, use ours after everyone's been using the other engine and just got to grips with it.
In the end they're both wrong cause this has made sure we can never evolve past the Unreal code or this code until the next gen or next set of major tools are released.
I don't think Epic is going to release all their tools until Gears 2 is out. why should or would they risk being upstaged? The wouldn't. This is why each developer needs their own tools and engines. Sorry to say. It is better for us the gamer. Might not be better for business, but it ensures us that we're getting the most out of these developers own resources and not others.
Way it goes. I mean, honestly, how would you all feel if the next TEAM ICO game was brought to us in way of the Unreal engine? It's suck and you know it. It would not be original work.
I think Unreal Engine turned out to be the most successful engine to date. But yes I do have to say that there are awful lot of Unreal games, and the problem is the look similar too & its not the engine's fault. We have seen BioShock, MassEffect & Gears of War 3 totally different looking game & as far as I remember Lost Odyssey and some upcoming JRPGS also uses Unreal Engine, so it is possible to produce different looking games. I guess the developers are just lazy to create there own artistic style. Turok & Army of Two anyone?
isn't thier engine the quake engine? At least i thought that's what they used for cod5, a heavily modified quake 3 engine.
LOL Fck your low def crap!!!
Keep your lowdef PC360 engine away from pS3!!! It pales in comparison to PS3 game engines such as
the one used in Heavenly Sword or Uncharted!!!
You guys can kiss some PS3 Hi-def Multicore technology cause your crap is weak sauce..
Sick of lame developers Low def and short all call of duty 4 was a last gen game.
