The Evil Within has a strong foundation in the past but fails to build on it.
6.5?! This is like a 8 or 9 from normal sites. Can't wait.
Polygon review to true review conversion equation. x = polygon score y = whatever bullshit non issues polygon has churned up z = secret true review score Bayonetta earned a 7.5, 7.5 + y = 10. y = 2.5 The Evil Within: 6.5 + 2.5 = z. z = 9.0 HOLY SHIT GUYS DIS GUN B GUD
Hyrule Warriors Polygon: 5.5 Average 7.5 Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeros PolyGon: 5.5 Average: 7.5 Castlevania: Lords of Shadows 2 Polygon: 5 Average 7.1 Battlefield 4 Polygon: 4 Average 8 Killzone Shadow Fall Polygon: 5 Average: 7.3 Okay, for the most part I see their reviews justified it is with a couple games that they are just crazy off compared to other sites. Sometimes I do not understand their rating system.
@roadkillers If we qualify a proper review only in terms of how concise it is with other reviews, then we could easily get by with just one review site, no? The point of multiple sites is multiple people - multiple personalities and multiple points of view. People cling to certain sites because they agree with those who write for them. They find personalities in-line with them, then look to them for a bit of guidance when it comes to their purchases. To take away from a review just because it isn't similar to the majority, that doesn't make it wrong. Even with the Polygon thing. Say a number of readers shared the same sort of "principles" as the writer. That is just as informative for them, concerning whether or not they would take to the title, considering. That's just how I see things, anyway.
@roadkillers It's not just bad scores too. Dead Space 3: 9.5 Mass Effect 3: 10 SimCity: 9.5 Diablo 3: 10
Polygon gave THE LAST OF US at 7.5 Nothing they ever say means anything anymore..
Ah, here we go again. Game receives mere reviews - the site MUST BE unreliable, I bet the game was too difficult for the casual author! Game receives positive reviews - no objections, keep em' comin'! And suddenly, that 8.7 given for The Evil Within by IGN is absolutely fair, but that 5.9 for Alien: Isolation? Nope, that's blasphemy! They can't have their own opinions!
Polygon, not even once.
Polygon is QUICKLY becoming the laughing stock of so-called "gaming journalism".. and it already pretty bad as a whole, so that's saying alot..
That's what happens when a website is constantly attempting to push an agenda and people start to notice.
That's not really true. There is a contigent of die-hard zealots that are still up in arms about the score they gave TLOU, but that only makes Polygon a laughing stock among that contingent (admit it, that's the review that drew your ire). I quite like their reviews. I don't always agree with them, but they seenm to consistently deliver an honest and considered opinion and they don't seem to be intended to please anyone.
LOL I already knew where this was going after reading this: "Many consider Resident Evil 4 to be an all-time classic (myself included)"
Exactly. Don't compare them. RE4 is brilliant, but The Evil Within is its own beast.
This guy was turned off by the difficulty he should of played on casual.
I'm beginning to question whether or not Polygon even likes games.
Oh Polygon!!! You can't stop doing this crap don't you? Dying for attention.
I can't really disagree with them here seeing as there are more reviews out there with the same consensus. Saw some streams showing terrible AI and bugs. Controls look terrible too, idk maybe some like it hard and some want better
Playing the game right now holy hell its survival horror for damn sure ammo is pretty scarce! And very creepy also this game is challenging as well if you are a casual gamer id sit this one out! So far my game of the year.
Anyone know already if this has New Game+?
Video game site reviews scores are like Scouters from Dragon Ball Z. They use to work well in the past, but now they're just unreliable. *Takes off Scouter and crushes it*
