While certainly not reaching the great heights that this wonderful director has reached in his past, he has certainly taken the elements that have worked for him over the years and placed almost all of them into The Evil Within.
Must buy since announcement.. "A Silent Hill from Shinji Mikami" YES
This game is a must buy to me, i won't even watch the reviews because i mostly disagree with them.
Looks like a good Halloween title. I can't decide between this and Outlast. The obvious answer is to buy both but I'd rather not.
Outlast, if you want to be scared. The Evil Within, if you liked RE4 or you enjoy survival games.
PT scared me six more time than Outlast
I didn't like RE4 at all, and do want to be scared or at least creeped out by the atmosphere as I play in the dark with surround sound, so I guess Outlast it is… Edit - …unless I go for Alien. Forgot about that possibility somehow.
Outlast is cheap.
Exactly. While Outlast is a very good experience considering it's an indie game and doesn't cost much, I would choose Evil Within over it every time.
Get both... isn't Outlast only like $10?
Another great score :-)
Yup! Must-buy indeed. As the reviewer mentioned (Shadows of the Damned) do you guys recommend this game too? Haven't played it yet. Any words of advice?
If it plays anything like Shadow of the Damned I'm getting it. I love the shooting mechanics in that game.
Ignoring the review embargo I see
Why not if someone gets a copy of the game early, without being in a leash like a dog? Is there something to hide in the game? Do they not have confidence in the game? At least i know for a fact that the game has technical issues, but putting that aside it seems solid.
The embargo only applies to sites who receive a review copy from Bethesda. But since The Evil Within is already being sold in some areas, some sites have been able to buy their own copies and release a review early.
Too bad I have work tomorrow ;(... my pre order finaly arrives but I wanna play it asap lol ;C . Maybe should call my boss and say I'm sick for one week ;). Only watched one trailer and one gameplay video of this, so I'm super excited now!
Great score!! Must buy definitely;)
You ever get that feeling that when the first review goes up for a game, a lot of the other reviews just seems like a copy of that first one? This review wasn't bad, but man I swear it has the EXACT same pros and cons as another review in such a specific way. Maybe people do find the exact same things to say about a game, but I have my doubts...
"Maybe people do find the exact same things to say about a game, but I have my doubts…" I find that easier to believe than when I see one reviewer praise something about a game and then see another list it as a con. Reviewer A : Level design is great! Reviewer B : Level design is terrible! I guess it comes down to which reviewer seems more credible, but that really just boils down to whether they have a similar taste in games as you. I stopped paying much attention to reviews back in the PS1 days.
Your example isn't what I mean by saying the same thing. Of course two reviewers can both observe something as general as level design. I meant that in this review there are very specific observations that are so similar in wording to previous reviews that it is strange. For example ending with the same general "while it does not hit the heights of his previous works… and mentioning a slow part in the middle, etc. Its weird that I literally got nothing more from this review than previous ones, you would think each would mention some unique things about the game, but sometimes you don't even get that.
Just found out that the EU versions apart from the UK one won't support English :, ((. Real bummer
