The highly ambitious horror title, Alone in the Dark is nearing its release and already, it has been receiving poor reviews. The bone-chilling game was looking like it could be a welcome addition to the Wii's lineup of software but it turns out that it is not what was expected...
NBA 2K25, Alone in the Dark, Destiny 2: The Final Shape, and Bomb Rush Cyberfunk await.
A really good month this time.
Don't care for NBA but its pretty cool that Destiny 2 is now completely? with all dlc? available via ps+ essential for those who have it since years.
Also Alone in the Dark and Bomb Rush will be played through by me.
PS Blog - "From May 28 to June 11, take part in player activities, bonus PlayStation Plus content, exciting offers, and more."
Overall great deals for everyone I guess.
For me personally though:
• "players who join PlayStation Plus during this year’s celebration can save up to 33% on select 12-month memberships."
• "players who are currently a PlayStation Plus Essential or Extra member, save 33% on the remainder of your membership when upgrading to PlayStation Plus Premium/Deluxe."
Ehhh ... Days of Play last until 11th. My subscription expires June, 14th.
I literally am laughing at me rn.
Will see about getting my kid a cheaper PS Plus sub so he can backup and transfer his saves again. Really wish that was free ala XB.
Hopefully Destiny 2 The Final Shape comes with a free gear level upgrade like last year’s PS Plus offering. To bring you up to speed with all the content and everyone else. I still need to do a Nightfall Strike on Grandmaster difficulty, but ain’t got time to grind.
More like Days of Meh.... no specialized controllers or systems like in 2018 and 2019.
This is their way to counter Nintendo Switch 2 launch week. I might get the discounted annual premium subs, but I think the game lineup is weak.
From GameWatcher: "Embracer has shut down Pieces Interactive, the studio that recently developed the Alone in the Dark Reboot for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
Pieces Interactive, acquired by THQ Nordic in 2017, worked on the Titan Quest franchise. Its most recent game, Alone in the Dark, received mixed critical reception at launch but was improved with subsequent patches."
Like we did not see this coming. Pieces and Alone in the Dark, had a kick me sign on their back the entire dev cycle to release. Perfect example of not reading current market trends, bad forecasting, marketing and release.
The demo they released a while back didn't leave a good impression, and it seems like they were riding far too much on Jodie Comer and David Hayter to be the driving force to buy the game. They're both great actors, but their performance on this game from what I've seen felt very stiff/forced - like they were out of their comfort zones. It's a shame to see another studio closure, though, and I hope the people effected (affected? I always get it wrong) can find more work soon.
Embracer's takeaway from this will probably be that they should focus on live service games.
it aint no mgs4 but its worth a rent. ima buy it though, ive been watching this game for a wile. cant wait.
At first I actually thought that the PS3 would be missing out on a good game title until later on this Fall, but it looks like it didn't turn out that way.
I know one thing for sure, Atari had better polish up Alone in the Dark in the Fall for the PS3.
And since the PS3 version isn't coming out until the Fall it really SHOULD be better because Atari will have read all of the game reviews by then and they could just use the reviews as a reference and improve in areas that were lacking according to the reviews and make tweaks here and there.
If the PS3 version doesn't turn out better, the developers working with Alone in the Dark just aren't doing something right or something.
this game is so strange.
there are a lot of great new game mechanics but the controls make this a 7/10 title.
nonetheless .. you should rent it!
trust me guys ... rent it.
it's a game that makes you want to smash your 360 controller sometimes.
Playing it on the 360 now and it is dissapointing. Its a shame as there some nice ideas in it but the control system, sluggish movement and awkward camera makes it virtually unplayable. The graphics are quite nice and it could have been good with more development time. I was really looking forward to this and was hoping the reviews got it wrong but in this case they were right.
