Smash Bros Actually Fits the 3DS Perfectly

Is the decision to develop the latest rendition of Smash Bros for both the 3DS and Wii U forcing a change to game's mechanics? Are the system's limitations a hindrance to the game as a whole? We take a look to see if the system really does the game justice.

I played the demo on a regular 3DS and everything including items is distinguishable. Really hope online doesn't have severe lag like Brawl did in the past.

DiscoKid3492d ago

It's based off the connection between the players. It's really good if everyone in the match has good connection.

iceman6003492d ago

sorry to disappoint you, but its the worst lag ever. I hope u don't like playing with spammers because that's all they do.

3-4-53492d ago

Got it at midnight last night. Played about 3 hours total.

* Online:

* 1v1 = Perfect...NO LAG
* 4 man FFA = Lag most matches....various degrees of lag, some not bad, some bad.

* 3 man FFA = No Lag.

* This game is awesome though, and I pretty much have NO complaints.

I'd give it a 9.3/10 so far, but that could change with playing more.

The thing is.....I only see that score rising.

I've yet to try everything or unlock anything really, both of which, will most likely only increase my love for this game.

* Best Smash Brothers yet, but I didn't play Brawl. I'm haven't played since melee, so there is a lot of new here for me.

* Took me 1-2 matches to adjust to gameplay.

* Using a Regular 3DS and it plays fine.
- 1v1 is awesome and 4 player doesn't zoom out too far, it's all still very playable and easy to see.

* Some Great music so far, and having every stage get it's own FD stage is a MUCH better idea than I expected.

* Basically any stage you don't like....just play the FD version.

* Mii Brawler = Awesome to use. I was surprised by this. Didn't expect him to have such a cool moveset.

* This game just makes me want the Wii U version even more now.

I'll get to have all this fun + More Unique Stages, More music, More Modes, + HD Graphics.

Can't wait for the Wii U version, but THIS IS the best version of Smash Brothers so far IMO.

WeAreLegion3492d ago

I'm not sure why anyone was worried. PSASBR worked really well on Vita. Why would Smash be any different?

TheFutureIsBlue3492d ago

I never dreamt of playing Smash on the toilet years back, but now we all can! =D It's going to be hard not taking my 3DS to work and sneaking some sessions in.

GenericNameHere3492d ago

You'd be able to do that too with the Gamepad, and at a better resolution too.

If only the 3DS was stronger, maybe it wouldn't have had to bring down what the Wii U version could have.

SilentNegotiator3492d ago

It's a 2.5D game...what amazing things would they have done with it if not for the 3DS version?

voodoochild3463492d ago

@silent

Well the ice climbers for one. The fact that there is incomplete data for them on the 3ddi version suggests Nintendo wanted to put them in but couldn't due to hardware issues.

SilentNegotiator3492d ago

I don't buy that the ice climbers were a tipping point. If the gamecube could handle it, 3DS shouldn't have much problem with it.

TheFutureIsBlue3491d ago

If only I had a WiiU. I might actually pick one up soon just to play the console version of Smash. It looks too good to pass up plus the WiiU is getting a good game collection.

Playing Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS in 2021

Alex DS. from Link Cable Gaming writes: "The release of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate for the Nintendo Switch made playing Smash 4, on either system a thing of the past. But for today’s piece, I wanted to revisit the 3DS version of the previous generation of Smash Bros., to see how it holds up and see if time has changed my opinion on the first portable Smash Bros. game."

Ranking the Super Smash Bros. Games From Worst To Best

There are few franchises that seem to have been played by almost everyone in the world at least once. Standing with titans like Pac-Man, Mario Kart, and Call of Duty, Super Smash Bros. is a household name.

Been playing Smash Bros. since the original came out and this is one list I can whole heartedly agree on.

Kinda interested in the game (Switch), but its consistently high price combined with 2 equally expensive Season Passes means I’ll probably never get to own/play it.

Inverno971d ago

Most likely they'll release a deluxe edition for the Switch 2 cause they've shown no interest in re-releasing any of their games with dlc in "complete edition"s. But having to buy another Nintendo console wouldn't really be a good solution either.

Yi-Long971d ago

They might, but I assume just re-releasing this game on next gen will get the existing fans angry, who would prefer a completely new Smash game (like they’re upset about there not being a new Mario Kart this gen).

Seeing how very few Switch games I actually bought, because of those high prices by Nintendo, I also doubt I’d invest in a new console from Nintendo.

FinalFantasyFanatic971d ago

@Yi-Long,

I would kill for a new Mario Kart, 8 isn't bad by any stretch, but it doesn't make the best of the Switch's capabilities, although I pretty excited for that new Mario Party. I do own quite a few Switch games, but I'd own more if the games weren't so expensive, it they're not Nintendo exclusive I end up buying elsewhere.

What a shit list of games. There is a good one here or there, but damn

Storm231289d ago

There are actually a ton of good games that are pre-owned at 29.99 or less if you search the site. Weird the games they included in the advert but bunch of others available for that price and they all work if under 30. Just search pre-owned games on your platform and most are already under 30.

roadkillers1289d ago

Okay, I missed tgat. Thank you

nickanasty2061289d ago

Before this week they had an even better deal buy 6 games and get 50 percent off the entire price. Luckily i took major advantage of that and picked up some really good games while that deal was on. Also just took advantage of this offer too though to fill in games i have been meaning to pick up and just haven't.

Applejack1289d ago

My backlog is too much as it is. I’m actually happy I didn’t catch that deal lol.
