Today was the first day of the alpha testing of the PS4 exclusive Bloodborne, and inevitably a lot of gameplay footage has ended on YouTube, uploaded by several eager testers.
I'm jealous. I wish I can play the BB alpha.
Same, this video will satisfy me a bit though.
It's only been half an hour since the first phase ended and I'm already desperate to play it again..
Looks so good! Didn't apply for beta, bit really looking forward to this. Thanks again DS.
looks like a mindless hack and slash also very linear. hack down an enemy move one rinse and repeat until you reach the end and face a boss. then do it all again in the next level. is there any variety to the combat? and will the story be intriguing enough to keep you interested? is there even a story? i really hope this isn't all that's to it. not trying to sound like troll or a hater just some concerns.
"concerns" ok :D
I bet his never seen Dark Souls.
u can't be serious ^^ or... are.. u...
Someones new to the Souls series I see, sure this isn't in the name of "Souls" but you'd be daft to argue. Try Demons Souls first.
Souls gamnes are the opposite of everything you said hardly mindless and very open and big LMAO. Troll harder.
'And so the nightly hunt begins.'
soo.... how is your time with your xbox ? I can imagine ...
b8 elsewhere m8
really guys? "omggg he has a different opinion he must be trolling!!!" stop being so close minded. this is just my initial impression from watching the video. and i've actually dug a little deeper to see if my concerns are warranted it seems the devs themselves have quoted "It won't be as open as Dark Souls 2" and that game wasn't even open world. So in some form I do think this game will be somewhat linear and we see that in the gameplay. If you like that type of game that's great, I do to, as long as the mix up the gameplay elements to keep it interesting or have an interesting story. But the combat looked very stale. Maybe it changes as the game goes on? whos knows. But it looks like a boring hack and slash from what ive seen. As for the story have we seen any story trailers that will immerse you in the game? There seems to be no hints of that. If its going to be a linear game with simple hack and slash a good story is a must to keep you invested in what you're doing. This seems to have none of that. I will still keep an eye on this game maybe they'll show more to peak my interest again.
"it seems the devs themselves have quoted "It won't be as open as Dark Souls 2" and that game wasn't even open world" Did you ever play Dark Souls 2? The game very open / accessible because you had bonfire that connected to every main area even when you not visited that area yet. What the devs means is Bloodborne will not as open as that because you will need to explore and find some way to new area. "But the combat looked very stale. Maybe it changes as the game goes on? whos knows. But it looks like a boring hack and slash from what ive seen." This is only the beginning and most of the enemies still pretty basic with one or two enemies who act as a death trap. It will act as a tutorial for players to get used with the game mechanic, just like Demon's & Dark Souls did in the 1st area. But when players level up and open more area with new enemies in it than that's the main attraction begin. "As for the story have we seen any story trailers that will immerse you in the game?" Obviously it will have story that will immerse you in the game. Did you not see people spending tons of hours playing Souls series just want to know what is really happening in Boletaria, Lordran, and Drangleic? But the story itself isn't in the same way like Uncharted, MGS, or Heavy Rain type. In Bloodborne you are the main characters and you need to explore the area, talk to NPC, reading item description, and read some letters / document to find some clue of what is really happening in Yharnam. Again, just like Souls series. Anyway, i don't want to sound rude but from the looks of it i assume you never play Souls series right? You keep mumbling about linier and hack & slash and people who have played Souls series obviously knew the series isn't linier and you can't simply hack & slash your way.
Stop saying hack and slash. You might have a point but, I hope the combat is not as repetitive as your writing.
So jealous! I applied for this. Hoping I get in at some point. It's looking so good!
what? 3 hours? there goes my evening...
Absolutely gutted I never got code.
Don't fret, there is still time to get a code. There's two more tests after this one.
Like a belief in the big man upstairs.. You give me hope.
Holy crap splatter blood all over his cape!!!
Can't wait to play it. Saved enough money for this holday season. Bloodborn will come out on february right?
Awesome! Thank you.
When I get home I'll be watching this, as opposed to playing anything that I own. I should've thrown my hat in the ring for a beta shot.
Alpha has so far been fine for me. Graphically looks amazing. Blood spatter looks really nice. Was worried about no shields being in the game. But the shotgun is pretty much your shield. Died about 8 times before I got to the boss then died within seconds :(.
what are those groups of little skeletons crawling out of the ground supposed to be?
Player messages. Just like demon's and dark souls you can leave messages for other players. These skeletons also show up along with a grave stone to show player deaths.
thanks for the info - yea, watching some people play the alpha - cleric beast is really tearing people up.
I only lasted about 10 seconds against him :(.
"Died about 8 times before I got to the boss then died within seconds" yup sounds like a FromSoft game alright , too bad I'll probs never get to play it :(
Looks good, should keep me playing the PS4 till UC comes out
This looks amazing. The sound is great. I also love the animations for enemies dying.
I really like the setting, art-style and music. I'm still not used to games that have this 'old-school', RPG-like feel to them. They all seem a bit clunky to me, something I never felt since replaying RE4. I guess it is not really my cup of tea, but the look and atmosphere really got me interested nonetheless.
