40° games, streams and a crap ton of money

Twitch.TV is undeniably the biggest streaming website in the world right now. With more than 200,000 at the time of writing this there are a lot of fans of the platform. These fans can pay some increment of money to a streamer to show their support to the streamer or even Twitch itself. But how is Twitch affecting the game industry? Is it showing people games that they could get into and allowing them to talk with their favourite players? Or is it allowing people to be taken advantage of in both money and time?
