I also love the HOME button. I'm glad Microsoft put this on the Xbox 360 controller and watched Sony & Nintendo copy it to great lengths.

Did anyone complain when they got a PS4 with a DD game that had to be loaded before they could play? Probably not. To me, this isn't even a big deal. You can actually start playing the game when the game reaches 30-35% complete. What's the problem?

sony was going to put a trothy system in the ps2 long before the xbox came out just that the internet at that time was not upto the mark was nothing to do with MS putting achievements in there console also sony have always given physical copies of triple A titles with there bundles but you got everything else right.

ps i am a gamer not a hater i like both consoles but the best is ps4 atm until something better comes along which im sure will happen eventually.

Seems like that'd be the opposite. Sports games lose their value quicker than almost any other genre. Practically worthless once the next title comes out. Might as well go digital for a game that has no resale value after a year.

the digital disc is good for one thing!! nobody can deny this though, when you and your friends do vice versa account activitation on each ps4, you can take turns on who buys the game!!!

i love that feature, especially know n days with most games not being worth it. last physical disc i got was gta v just because it was gta v, games that are special to me i get it on physical disc.

i love having the choice though and not being pushed into all digital and disc activation crap is great.

The problem is there's no reasonable incentive to buy digital. It costs the same and you are really only licensing games. When you strip away the instruction book, casing, and disc, fact is, it should be cheaper.

In bundle form, yes, this is addressed. You usually get the game and console for just the price of the console. The bundle aside though, the games aren't any cheaper. Granted, I've been loving these flash sales on digital titles because they do give me incentive to buy it digitally, but if these platform holders were really trying to swoon people into the digital era entirely, games on the network would be cheaper. That money you save could go towards external Hard Drive storage.

Like i said above imo the incentive is game sharing,it must be better for publishers to get the extra £10 rather than the person who didnt pay to go and buy a 2nd hand copy...

I'm on the fence about it. Personally after getting super fast Internet I like digital downloads if priced right. But right now we still get physical copies cheaper and can even resell them. I think for a bundle, a code is ok because at least I wouldn't buy one if I not like the bundled game. I guess it would suck tho if you have average or bad internet, then downloading might take a lot of time and may disappoint some.

Great for you but keep in mind you are very much in the minority since most people in the world don't have access to high speed internet or if they do don't have the budget or interest to get it.

Any business that wants to remain a business has to provide a service or product for as many customers as possible hence the reason in the case of gaming consoles to provide the option of physical copies of the game software.

Never thought I'd defend MS, but to be fair here, I'm sure it a) does explicitly say that it is a digital copy on the box or in the product information (which people don't seem to read and yet still complain) and b) downloading and installing it is a one time process. Sure not everyone has the greatest internet, but still, it seems way to harsh to get so angry about this imho.

Exactly.... but more to the point of what I was thinking, people did the same thing when they bought EA Access for madden because they thought they were going to be able to play madden unlimited ammount of time 5 days before launch. We had people then doing doing the same thing. As well as multiple articles filled with posts of people demanding a refund from EA.

You may read the information on a software package however most people don't. It is not much different from reading the Eula when you first boot up a new PC, personally I have always answered "no" and then installed a Linux distribution.

Forcing a digital download IMO is arrogant since that assumes everyone who buys your console has an internet connection. Then again the XB1 was originally envisaged as an internet reliant connected device and it was only when Microsoft realised that they were going to loose sales they did a 180.

Maybe we should call the XB1 XB(1+179) or just XB180, although the "XBone" is IMO richly deserved. :)

Its a good move from Sony but also the first reaction from Sony were they take a hit in the fight. I would prefer the physical disc for such a game though.

Yeah, a good move by Sony, but once again, they have to PAY FOR THIS. Retailers will be sending the bill to Sony for all those FIFA 15 that they give to the customer for free. I'm assuming Sony believes there won't be that many sales for this from just one retailer (Tesco), which is a supermarket chain. Who buys game consoles from a Supermarket? That's probably the only reason they did this.

Lots of people in Europe especially England and Ireland buy their games at Tesco cause they offer cheaper deals compared to the likes of Gamestop, Game, former HMV and Xtra vision.

Sony doesn't have to pay for anything greatly, it is a bundle like most other bundles. Games companies like Sony will usually get mass average prices for bundle deals rather than paying for each FIFA copy in a bundle

@GameDev1 It's not a true bundle. The FIFA 15 game is not packed in the PS4. They are just paying Tesco a large sum so that gamers can get the FIFA 15 game for FREE. The XB1 is an actual bundle with the digital game inside. If Sony is going the digital route, they will buy the codes from EA. If they go the physical route, they will pay Tesco. Whatever the case, they will still have to pay so that gamers get the game for free.

For me the upside to digital is no clutter from the case's and quick load times and less getting up, the downside to digital is no trade credit at the store to lessen out of pocket cost for controllers , live subs . But as of now am sticking with digital.

Too many times have I been burnt from online servers being cutoff or my favorite game has *SUDDENLY* been removed from the PSN/Xbox Live (thanks alot, Capcom). Hell, Xbox 360 owners were welcomed to games being deleted from their harddrive, if games licenses were expired! What the Hell is that?! The only sign I have of my experiences with M.A.G. are my memories and Youtube videos, should I sign up for more of that type of practice (The Crew, The Division, Destiny)? I don't think so...

Yeah, I'll keep my physical copy of games, with offline modes, thank you...

What you have just said has only reinforces my dislike for on-line only games and this does not just apply to consoles.

The only on-line capable games I have ever liked are the "souls" series and there is no way I am going to purchase a PS4 just for "Elder Scrolls On-line", although I do like "Skyrim" (100+ hours and have hardly touched the main quest much less the add-ons).

I prefer digital myself. To buy it in a store Fifa 15 would cost me 65 Euro.

I went onto the American xb1 store and bought Fifa 15 for 44 Euros, a saving of 20 Euros. And i got to play it early on the 23th too

Now saying thats a smart move from Sony to offer a disk included with the bundle. Its free so the disk will be able to traded in i believe.

I used to prefer physical copies rather than digital. Having something to physically see and touch feels like owning something, you can loan and sell it, and having a phyical collection on a shelf to see and show off is worth something. However, since companies stopped putting manuals in physical copies of games they themselves have lost value, feeling incomplete, like its missing something. My OCD cant tolerate this and would now rather just get a digital copy, at least it feels like I've gotton everything. Not having to swap discs is a nice convenience and no worries of scratched discs or unreturned/stolen copies to friends. As for selling them its not like Gamestop is buying games at a price to make it worth selling anyway.

I used to be a physical copy freak. I would never buy a digital copy of a game. But now that Xbox Gold is giving away free digital copies of the games I kind of enjoy not having to get up and change discs to play a different game.

That said, physical games are a shell of what they used to be. Now we have mandatory installs, day one patches, online only, bareboned dlc'd games, and getting ripped off with $5 trade-ins. Plus I and a many others have had their consoles' optical drive fail on us.

It did not have the best lineup not even close. Sunset overdrive is the single game, the only game that is great or at least looks really great that the xone is getting. And suprise suprise the game is made by past sony devs

i really dont get the download of a game when it is about 10 or 15 pound more than game stores or supermarkets,i mean you get no disc or box which saves the publisher money ie EA Sports in this case and there is no wage which staff who sell games would get paid,why pay 59 pound in ps store when retailers are cheaper,
