Destiny - New Loot Farming Location, Infinite Chests and Spirit Blooms

Bill Lavoy (Prima Games): As fast as Bungie can Patch the Loot Farming Cave on Earth, players in the Destiny universe can find the next best thing, and that's exactly what RumoPlays (that's us) and Bug_Will have done. While we can't say for sure that we're the first to stumble upon it, we have yet to see a video or article pointing out this particular area or activity

Me and a buddy headed here last night. I got two blue engrams and some spirit blooms after about 30 minutes. Never thought to check for chests though.

It goes crazy after about 15-20 minutes with tons of enemies meeting under the crashed space ship.

NewMonday3499d ago

got all the Spirit Blooms I needed in one run, have enough marks from the crucible to buy another 2 pieces of legendary armor, with these Spirit Blooms I'm going from lvl24 to lvl26

Buff10443499d ago

Hopefully this is a welcome sight after they patched the loot cave.

Menkyo3499d ago

This isnt new, people have been farming this area from day one. This is my spirit bloom go to place that unfortunately will now be worthless because of this article.

christian hour3499d ago

I'm pretty sure this area was known long before the Loot cave, I'd been using it for a week before I heard of the cosmodrome loot cave. Very handy for bounties too, especially that queens bounty for 200 fallen headshots. Taking a much needed break from this game for a while, my days on it trying to reach lvl 26 for the raids got so repetitive I was starting to not enjoy the game anymore. I'll give it a few days and let the absence make me grow fonder. And hopefully by then I'll know 5 people or bungie will patch in matchmaking for the raids/queens missions etc.

ramiuk13499d ago

couldnt agree more.im stuck at lvl 25 and its doing my head in now

KwietStorm_BLM3499d ago

"While we can't say for sure that we're the first to stumble upon it, we have yet to see a video or article pointing out this particular area or activity"

This was known long before the loot cave.

kneon3499d ago

I found it on my second day playing the game, and I'm sure I was far from being the first.

It's not even the most effective spot for farming chests. It's better back where you first enter the city, just cycle through all the rooms and you'll be finding a chest every 3 or 4th room and kill plenty of enemies along the way.

Even better is at ishtar sink, there are only 6 caves where the chests appear plus a couple of other spots, and they are all close together with plenty of enemies for target practice.

Gr1mmyshadows3499d ago

Yea I've been farming this are for a long time now. I hope bungie doesn't mess with this one as I need me a lot of spirit blooms

GearSkiN3499d ago

Funny how people have to do this to up their chances, coz bungies loot game is messed up!

nicksetzer13499d ago (Edited 3499d ago )

Yea, honestly if loot wasn't so terribly inefficient to get through strikes, raid, etc I would 100% much prefer doing it that way.

Bungie acts like people are doing it because they enjoy it, when in fact it is being done because people want to move on to higher level missions rather than play the same 5 forever stuck at level 22. You can play any of the strikes, which take forever to do, and usually come out with literally nothing.

Chuuzuu3499d ago

Agreed. Superhard strikes with three people and only one of them gets a GREEN UNCOMMON item. That really SUCKS!!

--Onilink--3499d ago (Edited 3499d ago )

quite the opposite, i've found that just choosing any of the 5 factions and leveling them up by playing all sorts of game modes to rank them up and buy the armor is MUCH easier, faster and fun.

People are assuming that just because you can get 1 legendary engram per hour and a bunch of blues shooting at a cave for an hour, you will actually get stuff faster, when its just the opposite with that damm cryptarch.

Seriously, just do some bounties per day, do the daily and weekly missions and play some PvP and within a week or so you will be mostly with legendary stuff.

I only went to the cave a couple of times and at most about 30min each time, not even for the loot itself, but because it seemed like a good way to get weapon parts and materials by dismantling stuff (now THAT is something that is out of balance, getting ascendant materials)

Maybe you are not supposed to be relying on pure loot to advance

d0x3603499d ago

I've done all that for 2-3 weeks and I still don't have a full compliment of gear. Hell I'm not even level 1 in vanguard or dead orbit yet and I do at least 4 bounties a day if not more.

I've come in first in crucible matches countless times and get nothing while everyone else does. I've done every daily challenge and strike, every queens mission etc etc. If I get any gear at all Ita always something I already have or something way worse.

I even get the gold rewards from daily events and the cryptarch turns all 4 legendary engram's into blues or greens every single time.

I got an exotic item earlier today and it was turned into a mote of light... A single mote of light.

Some people get very lucky and everything works out for them but the majority of people are stuck endlessly grinding which is why you see tons of articles, comments and forum posts about the subject. You and your gear are in the very very small minority in destiny.

Bungie also took away the ability to get shards from legendary break downs so now its going to take weeks to upgrade a single piece of armor unless you can do raids which OMG a majority of players can't do!

--Onilink--3499d ago

weird though, because i have done the exact same thing and im already rank 2 in Dead Orbit, Vanguard and New Monarchy. By the time the loot cave came up, i had already purchased all my legendary gear

Yomamaslama3499d ago

First off dox360, exotics don't turn into anything but exotics. Even legendaries that turn into motes of light would give u at least 2-3. Yah the odds of legend aires turning out low are pretty shitty, but I don't see how you have a hard time lvling your faction.

If your doing it right u shouldn't be gaining vanguard or crucible ranking. And it's pretty easy to get legend arises through the factions. Kid every lvl 3 and up from your faction gives u a guaranteed legendary.

Oh and they didn't make it so that all legendarys can't be turned into shards ( which shouldn't effect you anyway since you cry about having trouble getting them), it's only queen story legends tied that don't turn into shards.

If you played a much as you whine you would have the same buffed out gear. Or maybe you just wasted too much time infront of the loot cave

Specter2293498d ago

What your saying is Bungie made a game where you have to play pvp. I dont remember reading that anywhere.

To be realistic, RNG sucks in a lot of games. Demon's Souls, Warframe, and Borderlands come to mind.

LazyGoron3499d ago

This is what real RPG/MMO farming should be, farming for the spirit blooms and chests... not mindlessly drilling a black hole that creates engrams.

Once you hit Vanguard/Crucible ranks 2... you should have no problem buying purple guns and gear to raise your light level. Once I had my ranks where I wanted them, the only farming I need is for spirit blooms, helium, etc.

Buff10443499d ago

Agreed. I pick up Spirit Blooms whenever I see one on Venus.

Destiny Made Over $160 Million In Microtransaction Revenue In Less Than 2 Years

Destiny has made over $160 million in MTX revenue, and these numbers only account the data from late 2017 to early 2019.

Sgt_Slaughter332d ago

That's extremely low for microtransactions, especially for a game that's essentially designed around it

LucasRuinedChildhood332d ago (Edited 332d ago )

This was back when the game wasn't free to play.

The figures are from November 2017 to February 2019 (1 year and 4 months).

Based on that projection, the MTX revenue for Destiny 2 likely would have been closer to ~$240m for 2 years.

Not sure if premium expansions are included in that figure either although ... I'd hope that they are though and that most of the revenue was for actual content like Forsaken.

People spend way too much money on cosmetics.

Rude-ro332d ago (Edited 332d ago )

Seasons($10 and just got bumped to $12) and dungeon keys($10 each, two a year) are through the eververse(micro transaction) store.
So for those two years, in order to play a season, you would pay through micro transactions.

Sonic1881332d ago (Edited 332d ago )

Bungie Marathon will be worse since it's designed around it as well

Kurt Russell331d ago

It makes me sad to agree... but at the same time I am looking forward to giving it a go. Destiny 2 is so far in, I find it difficult to figure out what I am meant to do first.

buffig332d ago

I think FIFA alone makes over $1bn a year from mtx

anast332d ago

FIFA promotes a worldwide sport. It should make more money than destiny.

CantThinkOfAUsername332d ago (Edited 332d ago )

Let's compare something similar. Apex Legends and its ridiculous $18/$40 skins make EA a billion each year.

z2g332d ago

For as much as ppl complain how much they hate microtransactions, they sure don’t act like it. No wonder they aren’t going anywhere.

spicelicka332d ago

By "people" you're referring to millions and millions of people. Obviously the ones complaining aren't necessarily the same as the ones spending all that money.

There's millions that purchase MTX and there's nothing we can do about it

I've been thinking about playing through D1 again before it goes away...

CobraKai483d ago

That’s the sad reality of a game like this. I bought it, invested lots of money, and it can go away at anytime. I still think this was more fun than 2.

jeromeface482d ago

prob because 2 is a grindfest slog

spoonard480d ago

That's the bummer of 'games as a service'.
