5 Reasons the Silent Hills TGS Trailer is Extremely Promising

CraveOnline: "To kick off this year’s Tokyo Game Show, Hideo Kojima and gang have revealed a never-before-seen concept trailer for Silent Hills. As someone who loves the Silent Hill franchise—I can proudly say I’ve completed all of them—, and has high hopes for the next installment, it was exactly what I wanted to see. I wonder when they will start showing us some real footage as this is simply another one of his concept videos (like PT was meant to be) as means to hype the viewers.

To be fair, the game is early in development. I've worked as a programmer and can tell you first-hand that products looks VERY rudimentary early on. It isn't until later that the art team begins making things look good enough to present to an audience.

I'm just basing it on the last few comments he has made in the past. He keeps saying that this "teaser" is not a representation of SHs or is in any way connected to it (story wise perhaps?). He has also mentioned that he is not going to stick to one perspective, so I guess he wants to do Skyrim or something. Also considering episodic format, which tells us they are still brainstorming.

Final Fantasy, Metal Gear Solid, Silent Hill franchises all looking impressive again this gen, wow didn't expect this.

Especially not Silent Hill, thought that franchise was dead in the water. The more I see, the more it just seems like gaming is on the rebound from last gen, which I though was pretty mediocre compared to the PS2 gen and other previous gens.

I'm not that well-versed in the franchise, though I understand why people are so excited.

I wasn't all that scared by it at all, it seemed to "out there" to scare me, the P.T demo was set in some sort of reality, like an actual haunting, which I could identify with.. interesting trailer, I hope they leave the big handed woman thing out.

I could see specific aspects of this being freaky in a game under the right setting, but I do agree it all smashed together wasn't as frightening as PT.

It was better than a modern day "horror" game and movie, but it wasn't at PT level scary. Probably because I wasn't playing it though.

Writing on the wall near the telephone will have appeared, look at the writing, then look away, repeat four times until "HELL" is written on the wall near the front door, enjoy!
