So if their servers are ever down for what ever reason the game is unplayable?
What happens in a few years when inevitably the servers close, the game is just rendered useless?

Welcome to the future. -_-

The Destiny franchise is supposed to last minimum 10 years (vide Activision and Bungie contract) so don't worry about servers :)

Clown_Syndr0me1555d ago

"Franchise". Not individual game.
I have no intention of buying this, its not my cup of tea. But I have loads of games I still play (or am yet to play) that are 4-5 years old. Im guessing by then Destiny servers will be closed due to sequels and then the game will be useless. Wont even have any resell value.
I know alot of PC games are like this, but theyre cheaper and in general last ALOT longer than console games.

You don't understand how Destiny works :)
Bungie said, that when Destiny 2,3, etc. will come out, You won't lost anything and You will be able to play with Your character all the time and I think sequels will be like WoW expansions, just adding more and more to the actual game.
Everything will be on the same servers.

No, if you're paying attention to Destiny news at all then you should know that the servers aren't live yet... not live/On whatever you want to call it. Because it's a social game that's suppose to be played with others, not the few dozen who happen to get it early.

Destiny said as much when people were "worried" that review copies were to arrive to reviewers a day before launch... people freaked out. IDK exactly why, Destiny is a game that is supposed to be played for years... why would you trust a review/reviewer that's only played it for a week? Destiny is a game that's suppose to be played with other online, not a select few individuals. Perfect examples of game that was played amount a select few before launch... BF4, seemed great but then we all got our hands on it, kinda broken.

It shouldn't be surprising that an online cooperative game requires the servers to be online. Just like every other online game out there.

well duh the game isnt even out yet

edit: they wont dude, they are just down cause its not released, im sure both sony and ms, even bungie are ready. And if they do it'll be for maintenance, this happens every Wednesday with day z, and it annoys the heck out of us, but it enables a clean always update able online mmo

Intentions1555d ago

Yeah, but Destiny is a always online game, what happens when they decide to pull the servers down.

martinezjesus19931555d ago (Edited 1555d ago )

Patch it so its not an always online game?? Thats what patches are for you know?

Volkama1554d ago (Edited 1554d ago )

Then you don't play it any more. Does that present some good reason to avoid playing the game? Will it make the experience less enjoyable?

The perception of owning a game is misplaced, and will gradually disappear. It's just gonna take a while because that perception is very common, and people are putting up some significant resistance :)
