No Dutch speech recognition for Xbox One Kinect at launch

The Dutch speech recognition for the Xbox Kinect One is not present at the launch of the console, Microsoft confirms opposite Gamer.nl.

I thought the reasons for the delay was due to localisation issues. Did they just abandon that idea?

Considering all the others countries are getting it now, im sure at some point it will as well. Probably not as easy as we think to localize voice commands for different languages & accents.

But you are taking about a limited amount of commands. It is no cortana which has to be open end since there will be many different amount of commands to do/ask certain things. Though this really isn't the issue. The reason for the delay was a localisation issue (as stated by Microsoft). You would expect them to have implemented it after saying such a thing. Just seems like an odd move

@abzdiine: Considering how some 'special' people forgot so many things MS has said (No DRM removal, no Kinectless SKU) I'm willing to bet that's exactly what goes on inside their head "Our customers have short-term memories, Phil! I don't get why the delayed the launch in Europe. Many Europeans speak better English that Americans.

It's not just voice commands. It's recognizes voice for searching through your games catalog, searching through media (netflix, hulu, vudu etc) bing, and navigating we pages. If you think localization just involves making the 20 or so voice commands work, then you simply haven't used it.

For example, If I say 'xbox bing Denzel Washington movies', it'll give me a list of movies featuring Denzel. you need open ended voice recognition (surely the don't have a stores command for every known actor), not just the 'limited voice commands' you speak of.

Been using it for Netflix, crazy but voice actually works better than the gamepad.
