PS4 Exclusive RiME Scheduled for 2015, Will Have No Combat and More

OnlySP: Tequila Works finally showed off some more of their mysterious PlayStation 4 exclusive, RiME, at Gamescom this past week and have been answering some fan questions via their Twitter account.

Sweet, this game I'm really excited for. It looks absolutely beautiful.

It's worth noting that they said no combat, not that there will be no enemies. We already saw some shadow creatures in the reveal trailer. You do play as a child, after all. He also said there will be lots of action, with a huge focus on open world exploration and puzzle solving.

Microsoft must feel really dumb passing on this now after people have seriously begun to compare it to ICO, Wind Waker, and Okami.

DanielGearSolid3958d ago

No combat is probably the main reason they passed

iamnsuperman3958d ago

I am curious to see how no combat is going to work. This game looks interesting

@DAnielGearSolid
More like no guns

I get more of an ICO vibe than Wind Waker and Okami. It feels more like an ICO without combat.

MasterCornholio3958d ago

@Daniel

That's probably true. When will Microsoft learn.///

SoapShoes3958d ago

Some of Sony's best franchises are because MS passed. They also passed on Media Molecule and Quantic Dream.

mikeslemonade3958d ago

Pretty demotivating if they are really comparing it to Brothers. Brothers is a below average game.

Darkfist3958d ago

theres no combat, but im pretty sure theres going to be some kind of enemy based on the first trailer.

Potnoodle9993958d ago

If MS had made it it would have ended up a completely different game from the sounds of things, so I am SO glad they passed because its probably the game I'm looking forward to playing the most next gen. ICO and shadow are two of my very favorite games. And I also loved wind waker.
Cannot wait for this :D

Evilsnuggle3958d ago

Im very disappointed that Rime has no combat . This game was one of my top 10 most wanted now i will most likely not purchased Rime . I was so hoping for a zelda type on PS4. Hope some great new action RPG and RPG are announced at TGS :(

Wingsfan243958d ago

@mikeslemonade

Brothers is certainly not a below average game. That game was one of the best indies of last year, and offered up some truly unique gameplay with a very touching story.

medman3958d ago (Edited 3958d ago )

Microsoft say no guns, no bullets, no explosions, no thank you. Sony smile and say, welcome home.

This game reminds me of Ico, and I loved ICO. Cannot wait to play this.

LOL_WUT3958d ago

Wish there was still some sort of combat but regardless can't wait to see more ;)

PrinceOfAllSaiyans3958d ago

Probably why MS passed on it because no shooting, fighting, or racing. Lol.

Potnoodle9993958d ago

Haha u did a funny
Its sad that both your comments are probably true though LOL

To be fair, the design document they passed up on was quite different to what the game is now. Still, have a read of this quote from the director of Tequila Works:

"Then the Xbox One plans were announced and everything changed. The people at Microsoft say that the game doesn't fit in the strategy of the new console, that they are looking for "connected experiences" and the social factor. Rime didn't fit because it was a single-player game, a very traditional game experience."

So really, it's adding up. LittleBigPlanet, Heavy Rain, RiME, and about a dozen of Rare's creative projects rejected. It's absolutely atrocious that Microsoft were hesitant on supporting "traditional" offline game concepts for Xbone. I mean that, in addition to the DRM, anti-consumer, non-gaming crap had to be the worst direction for a gaming console ever conceived.

RiME is really looking to be a gem of 2015. Hopefully it gets the due attention like Journey did in 2012, and Ico did back in 2001.

5 Bad Switch Ports That Should Not Have Happened

Greysun writes:

The Nintendo Switch gets bombarded with many, many ports. But most of them actually run pretty well, with only a couple that we would call bad Switch ports.

While I agree with the majority on this list Bloodstained is far from a bad port. Sure it doesn't run as fast as the other more powerful machines and has some sacrifices made to the graphics to keep the game running smooth. But some of the errors that are being mentioned can be patched and addressed. The game is still fun to play, it's not like it's broken or anything.

King_Noctis2180d ago

Ark should have never been released the way it is on the Switch. The game is so so bad.

It's purely down to the incompetence of the Devs. Just go and look at how more demanding games have successfully been ported to Switch and then you have proof that these are just poorly done.
