Goodgame Studios has crafted a brand new MMO building strategy game, called Shadow Kings. In Shadow Kings the player can build, populate, and re-arrange their world to their liking. It also allows for allegiances, betrayals, and Orcs, lots and lots of Orcs.
It’s not hard to find games that follow the multiplayer city/empire-building formula – offensive and defensive battles, recruiting soldiers and building resource farms, waiting for cool downs and timers. Shadow Kings: Dark Ages, a multiplayer town builder by Goodgame Studios, highly resembles other familiar games that share this formula. It took a few hours of gameplay before I realized that it wasn’t simply a copy-and-paste from other games of the same genre, however. There are some things that Shadow Kings does that I haven’t seen before, only I wish they would have capitalized on these differences to make them more meaningful.
WP - "Shadow Kings is a new MMORTS for the iOS and Android platforms, originally for play on browsers by Goodgame Studios. You build a city, which is heavily customizable especially by the standards of this type of genre, allowing you to shape it however you want and to grow it from a little base into a huge military center. All this, of course, is for the fun of fighting other players, then forming alliances and fighting each other in groups."
Goodgame Studios today announced that the recent launch of their free online strategy MMO without download, Shadow Kings, has been a huge success.
