That's huge, Sony had a great conference on Gamescom with a lot of exclusives, now i wonder what games can be announced on TGS.

colonel1793958d ago (Edited 3958d ago )

Final Fantasy XV release date/window/year/decade/centur y

Kingdom Hearts 2.5 / More on Kingdom Hearts 3

Persona 5

Yakuza

Games that will never come to US/EU

JackOfAllBlades3958d ago

Yup, I think we have great things to look forward to next month as well!

Abash3958d ago

This was a great move. Not only are people even more excited about Bloodborne becase of this, but the new footage of The Order: 1886 actually convinced a lot of people on the game. Now lots of gamers see that The Order is shaping up to be great.

I just wonder when we will see those new games

DragonKnight3958d ago

None of those are coming to TGS, it's just going to be more indies. They've had 2 major conferences so far and both of them had far too great a focus on the indie titles, TGS will be no exception.

Infamous2983958d ago

They did an interview with a japanese guy ;forgot his name btw; about a game that will boost Local (japan) performance of the ps4 in terms of sales, Maybe it was one of the game announcement that sony decided to show it in TGS instead.

vishmarx3958d ago

sony owned gamescom.
only thing ms had going for it was the TR exclusivity which turned out to be a dud.
announced games got some fantastic trailers.
tons of new games,
and that Silent Hill megaton(imo).
kojima+del toro working on a horror game with reedus as lead is itself big enough to win it for me.
far as tgs goes, its not even ms's territory.sony has it in the bag.

3958d ago
PaleMoonDeath3958d ago

"Final Fantasy XV release date/window/year/decade/centur y" ~ Hahahaha!

mikeslemonade3958d ago

Yea looking back at the conference there were enough "small time" annoucments. More announcements would have overshadowed the current announcements.

rainslacker3958d ago

@Dragon

I dunno. They may bring out some of the big guns at TGS to take the steam out of MS Japan release of the X1.

It would make sense since MS apparently has some Japanese exclusive developer support for the system like they did early in the 360's life.

However, it does seem like they've been holding back a lot of their cards this year. So many of their major studios we have no idea what they're working on.

TomShoe3958d ago

It's ridiculous how much Sony still has up it's sleeve in terms of announcements.

Media Molecule New IP
Guerrilla Games New IP
Sony Bend New IP
Sony Japan's new IP
The Last Guardian (E3 Insta-win)
Whatever Sony Santa Monica is working on
Gran Turismo 7

and a crap ton of 3rd party and 2nd party exclusives.

3958d ago
morganfell3957d ago (Edited 3957d ago )

I disagree Colonel.

Announcements cut from Gamescom were titles originally intended to be published there. Not Japanese titles that would never be available in the EU or US. Those are not games announced at Gamescom or E3. Titles cut from announcement at Gamescom are titles localized for the EU and in all likelihood will also be available in North America.

great googly moogly !!! they held back yet they where the only ones to show actual new games , hyped for tgs now cant wait.

Gardenia3957d ago

TGS is home for Sony and the Playstation. It's always huge what they show on that show

dirkdady3958d ago (Edited 3958d ago )

Sony blew it out of the water in their presser with first party/second party AAA games plus a few AAA independent game such as hell blade by ninja theory (the new middle tier in my opinion). And a slew of smaller indie games.

Plus PC game moves to ps4 such as DayZ.
Gameplay footage of bloodborne a AAA title that blows tombraider out of the water (think dark souls IP going Sony exclusive with Sony owning the IP with original creator at helm.

andydalum3958d ago

The arrogance of so many people on this site astounds me.

1.) Bloodborne and Tomb Raider are two different style of games, plus tomb raider hasn't even shown any game footage making your comment seem like it's out of spite more than anything. Just because one game is good aka bloodborne doesn't mean it makes another game any less.

2.) Lords of the Fallen is another game that is alot more closely in the direction of this game but you fail to bring that up since it's not a microsoft or sony exclusive.

3.) If Sony and Microsoft keep it up we are in for one hell of a generation of gaming. But let's stop with all this praising exclusives i love my exclusives plenty Halo 5, Scalebound, Sunset Overdrive, QB, Forza horizon 2, MCC, Tomb raider, phantom dust, crackdown 3 BUT i think we would all benifit from all games being on all platforms and then just play which console fits you best. I know would never happen makes no sense from a business standpoint because then mine as well merge the consoles but exclusives only hurt us gamers OPEN YOUR EYES.

GribbleGrunger3958d ago (Edited 3958d ago )

@andydalum: I can't agree with that. What you are proposing with the idea of ALL games on ALL systems leaves nothing other than 'which is the best version of the game' to differentiate the platforms, and currently that's harming only one console. When you have completely different titles then the battle becomes 'which developer has the best vision and the ability to realise their vision.' That can only exist in a world with exclusive games and it feeds the imaginative/creative aspects of development rather than the technical side of things.

andydalum3958d ago

@Grubble

I do understand what you are saying and i wasn't saying that All games should be on all systems what i was trying to point out is that exclusives do nothing but hurt gamers. I understand not all games can be on both but even if you have one game that's running a little better or looks a little better on one consoles doesn't mean the game would be any less fun to play on the "inferior" console. Plus would lead to more sales and the studios would have more to make the next game. Like i said before i understand this would never happen but it COULD is the only thing i am focusing on. Look at PC's you can have a game run on ultra or on basic everything. I bet those who play skyrim not on ultra play the game the entire time like this is a stupid game because im not playing best version.

dirkdady3958d ago

@andy

Yes tomb raider and Souls franchise are different, but from an industry aggregated quality stand point Souls games are top tier while tomb raider games have not been.

Jeff2573958d ago

@andydalum Exclusives do not harm gamers. Paying to have a sequel to a game that was supported more by the competition on their systems as a timed exclusive and trying to pass it off as full exclusive harms gamers. Those kinds of business practices in this industry should not be tolerated by gamers. I am all for 3rd party exclusives if they are unknown IPs that one company wants to take a risk on and the other decided not too. But if a company really wants to separate their console from another then the best thing to do is invest in more exclusives that have no chance of being played anywhere else. That is why 1st and 2nd party exclusives are a great thing. Sony has realized that for years now which is why they have so many great 1st party studios constantly putting out great exclusives you can't even find on PC. Microsoft on the other hand still seems content trying to rely on a few franchises and wasting money on timed exclusive 3rd party games. They should really start investing more in 1st party studios and 1st party titles and hopefully they will realize it sooner rather than later. The backlash about Rise Of The Tomb Raider will hopefully hasten that idea.

Lol

This is how u know sony could have shown anything and ppl would say it was the best thing they ever saw

Ot... I really hope they show some games I want to play right now all I have is destiny for my ps4 on the horizon

I'm looking forward to guerrilla games ip...and I really think that I may pick up uncharted because I fell in love with TLOU it was an amazing game so I'm hoping I like uncharted it looked amazing

Also I really wish they would bring back resistance

stuna13958d ago Show
Lawboy23958d ago (Edited 3958d ago )

@ stuna

I'm saying that personally i was not impressed with their gamescom presentation..I've bought every exclusive for ps4 so far other than knack and what they presented was nothing that I would prefer to play and ur right it is all about a matter of preference but from what sony is saying now is they didn't even bring there A game to gamesom

zeuanimals3958d ago (Edited 3958d ago )

What's it matter if they brought their A-game or not if their non-A-game was still amazing? A professional sports team doesn't have to bring their A-game against a high-school team to win.

Sony's presser still appealed to me far more than MS's since Sony mostly announced new and ambitious games or just things that are refreshing to see. MS just showed us stuff we knew about, except for Tomb Raider being exclusive which left a bad taste in lots of people's mouths. With all of the money MS puts into moneyhatting, they could be starting up new 1st party studios and putting out more overall games rather than just stealing games away from the competition for a while.

Wild and Silent Hill stole the show for me and Sony's pretty much reviving my love of gaming with games about exploration and horror, two genres/sub-genres that are fairly rare today and two that I grew up with. MS brought the usual and a few interesting indies, most of which we already knew about like Ori and Cuphead.

Outside_ofthe_Box3958d ago (Edited 3958d ago )

***"Lol

This is how u know sony could have shown anything and ppl would say it was the best thing they ever saw"***

Just because YOU think their gamescom conference was bad doesn't mean everyone else does. When something is subjective you'll have those on both sides of the coin no matter what it is. The sooner you release this the sooner you'll release how silly it is to 'lol' at someone's opinion of a games conference.

***"but from what sony is saying now is they didn't even bring there A game to gamesom"***

How do you come to that conclusion? Do you know what game announcement was actually cut? It could have been a game that was far away from release. It could have been another indie game. You don't know.

I doubt Sony would deliberately not try to bring their best showing as they possibly can to gamescom. What purpose would it serve to purposely put on a mediocre show?

Why o why3958d ago (Edited 3958d ago )

Everybody is entitled to their opinion. Some people loved guardians of the galaxy..... others didn't. Sometimes the hype boosts expectations and for many they were met but there will be some where it has the opposite effect. Each to their own. I'm glad a saw some new things. Each camp showed something interesting. Unfortunately the so called megaton announcement was slight of hand so it detracted some of us from the bone meat.

Slightly annoyed I'll have to be patient until tgs because a hint of some of the more asian-centric projects would of been nice but thats how it is I guess.

GTgamer3958d ago

OMFG I Just realized all the games Sony showed were New IP's and not leaked by any insider so they were all surprises to me But the realllllll Good thing about it is that the games we know about haven't been Shown the real Heavy Hitters are being kept under wraps Sony must really be waiting for MS to announce something big for them to counter attack with the games we know about gotta love this generation.

VforVideogames3958d ago

Sony cannot afford to lose one more show, they lost E3 and they lost Gamescom so here is hope.

styferion3958d ago

uh, they announce many new IPs and lost?
also that interactive teaser of P.T, such creative way of announcing a new game.. lost?

CaptainObvious8783958d ago

Sony's 10 mil sold to CONSUMERS and continuing to increase the gap as we speak says otherwise.

And I don't see how you could say Sony lost gamescom. I can't even remember all the new games they announced. How many did MS announce?

Nathaniel_Drake3958d ago

Do you live in Bizzaro world or something? You don't make any sense.

StormLegend3958d ago

Even more exclusives.. Hopefully I can get Project Diva F2nd on PS4.. I can't wait!!!

DAS6923958d ago

I am personally upset because I was expecting more from MM.... Where was the new IP???

fermcr3958d ago

"Yoshida - some game announcements cut from Gamescom, PS4 getting big focus at TGS"

Maybe they should have brought those games to E3 and Gamescom, since they had average conferences. Keeping them for TGS is a bad idea, home consoles hardly sell in Japan.

G20WLY3958d ago (Edited 3958d ago )

Gamescom was in no way average for Sony. They announced more games than ever before and MOST of the them were new IPs. That in itself in a great achievement and a good sign for the future of PlayStation.

"Keeping them for TGS is a bad idea, home consoles hardly sell in Japan"

Maybe they're holding them back for TGS BECAUSE home consoles are hardly selling in Japan, since the tax changes - did you consider that?

A little tempter or two is exactly what they need over there for a boost in interest and sales - it worked for the Wii U to some degree. Even the biggest fanboy couldn't deny that much...

uth113958d ago

PS4 is on top everywhere except Japan. So it makes sense to bring the heavy hitters to Japan.

thekhurg3958d ago

Probably more indie games.

Tired of indie games consuming 75% of the show.

SpinalRemains1383958d ago

Yep.

Cheap to make, not as awesome to play, and yet gamers are ok with it because it says PlayStation.

Keltech3957d ago

So u would rather sit on your hands and not play anything new?. Great thinking there bud...

thekhurg3957d ago

@Keltech -

If it comes down to shitty indie games or nothing, I'll take nothing since that's all an indie game is anyway.

finbars753958d ago (Edited 3958d ago )

Sony did great this Gamescom no doubt but I am let down with the fact Guerilla Games did not show anything considering that it was announced they would and the fact that there home is in EU. Santa Monica studios wasn't present either so not sure why Sony is so hung up on there indie games when they should have supported there developers in there own country with AAA games that we all where expecting but no show at all. Come on Sony Bloodborne isn't the only AAA games you have to offer.

geddesmond3957d ago

Dont forget the video game awards in december. Id say 3 more new exclusive announcements all aaa

Gamer19823957d ago

It makes sense really as they gotta crack that Japanese market as right now they are selling a lot worldwide except Japan as theres still not many games the Japanese like they need that big JRPG announcement.

MrSwankSinatra3958d ago (Edited 3958d ago )

if they cut game announcements then that was pretty dumb on their part since MS obviously had a way better showing than sony did. hell people are still flipping out about tomb raider.

BitbyDeath3958d ago (Edited 3958d ago )

No, just no.
Sony announced a ton of new games, MS did not.
TR shellshocked a lot of people sure, but that was it for the conference and it turns out it was only a timed exclusive which diminishes their conference even further.

XiMasterChief3958d ago

They were both pretty bad. Just timed exclusives and indies. EA Press....inhumane. Ouya Press Conference was best.

Eonjay3958d ago

I have to agree. Sony had a ton of content. They announced many games and showed great footage for everything. It was an incredibly strong show for them.

BitbyDeath3958d ago

Until Dawn, WiLD, Tearaway Unfolded and PT are not indie nor timed.

-Foxtrot3958d ago (Edited 3958d ago )

Agreed

Microsoft hardly had anything and there show wasn't even on that long

People moaned that Sony didn't show much games at E3, they showed a shit load here and it's still not good enough

Not to mention the "after mint" of the show...Silent Hills.

dirkdady3958d ago

Yep Bitby Is correct all those ps4 exclusives are Sony published AAA game. Hellblade by ninja theory is AAA independent (per the studio).

XStation3958d ago (Edited 3958d ago )

@-Foxtrot
MS conference was longer wasn't it? I thought theirs was a hour and 30 min and Sony was a hour. Correct me if I'm wrong.

XStation3958d ago

Doesn't diminish nothing actually. MS stole the show with that and that was the only thing people were talking about. And they're still talking about it which goes on to show that they are more relevant when you bring up Gamescom.

equal_youth3958d ago

@xStation all ms gained with that was negative press. they fired straight in their own foot.

BitbyDeath3958d ago (Edited 3958d ago )

The only part of Gamescom that made it to the real world is Sony selling 10 million PS4's.

http://blogs.wsj.com/digits...

TR got a lot of reception on gaming sites but it was mostly negative, which pours a bad light on MS yet again.

As for the games themselves, as mentioned before , Sony killed it.

rainslacker3958d ago (Edited 3958d ago )

When the only takeaway from the conference is that MS secured a 3rd party exclusive(presumably not timed for a while), then that's hardly a good showing. This is the same mentality of people thinking that the 360 getting FF13 to go multi-plat automatically made them the winner of the E3 showings, despite the rest of the conference being complete crap.

Granted, for my part, there were a couple games that I enjoyed seeing. ScreamRide and Ori were my favorite games of their conference. QB went down a rung for me though because the game play seemed off to me.

Anyhow, if you manage to wade through all the TR articles and find the articles related to the PS titles that were announced, people are in there talking about them. Not so much for the Xbox ones, because most of them were already known about.

But I think both had good conferences, just MS TR announcement overshadowed all the good stuff they did show. With Sony, they had a lot of good content, so lots of disagrees on which one was the best of the conference.

+ Show (7) more repliesLast reply 3958d ago
GamersHeaven3958d ago

That is a few month timed exclusive for inferior version according to you they won because of that?Quantum Break was already forgotten so what else does Microsoft have? Oh right nothing Sony showed what they had to show had a solid showing of games people are excited for come TGS they will keep dat train rolling with more exclusives.

polloloco3958d ago

Not really the only thing ms announced that got buzz was tomb raider and word's out now thats a timed exclusive.

SilleGamer3958d ago

Subjectively speaking, Sony slaughtered Microsoft at Gamescom.

And objectively, too.

rdgneoz33958d ago

People are only flipping because the PS4 version sold more than double as many copies and ran at twice the frame rate compared to the xbone version.

MS's showing was basically all games they had shown before and multiplats.

Outside_ofthe_Box3958d ago

I'm pretty sure the reason why some game announcements were cut is because they are far from being close to finished. Which I consider a smart move. No need to announce games that are 4+ years away from release. We don't need another GT5/Last Guardian/VS13 scenario this gen.

MysticStrummer3958d ago

If a timed exclusive was the biggest news to come out of MS's show ( and it was ) that's a problem.

MrSwankSinatra3958d ago (Edited 3958d ago )

If 90% of the games Sony showed are indies (which it was) then that's a problem. Microsoft showed games people would actually buy a console for. Do you honestly think people are going to buy a 400 dollar console to play games like Alienation, The Tomorrow Children, Pix the Cat, etc? This strategy Sony is taking is going to bite them later on. Sure they may have 10 million sold as of right now, but that can easily change. The momentum is changing for Xbox One and the only people saying it doesn't matter are the PS fanboys. A timed exclusive made MS the talk of the show and that's all that really matters. Nobody who's a Tomb Raider fan is going to wait to play it on PS4.

black0o3958d ago

^^ what about Until down, wild and P.T are those indies as well, not to mention the order 1886/bloodborn/drive club..etc

MonsterChef3958d ago

Microsoft showed triple a games sure but aside from quantum break, the games they showed are coming to the ps4 aswell, your lying to yourself mrswanksinatra if you think showing thrid party games over 1st party exclusives is a better show, and I can look back at the generations of Playstation and know that games are coming don't let indies fool you Sony has a track record for taking risk Microsoft has a track record of throwing money around stupidly, how much did they spend on essentially on the same controller for R&D? how much did they spend on an NFL app?? $400 million son!! that could have gone to funding of new game studios but what do I know I've only been playing games since the nes

MonsterChef3958d ago

PS I'm a tomb raider fan from the Playstation days and I can wait, am I going to buy it? no I'm not that franchise is dead to me now.. I still remember hearing about the nude mod that never was and duel wielding a gun for the first time against a trex but they had crappy Tomb Raider games for the ps2 which still leaves a bad taste and yes the exclusiveness was the talk of the show for Microsoft to bad that talk was negative

rainslacker3958d ago

@Swank

The momentum is changing? What momentum would that be? And in which direction is it changing?

Is it sales momentum? Because the Xbox sales have been going down for the last few months, whereas PS4 has remained steady, and Wii U's are increasing.

Is it image momentum? because right now, many seem to be viewing MS in a poor light due to the way they've handled things so far, and it's only flared up again since people are blaming MS for the whole TR thing.

Is it games available momentum? Because right now the PS4 has more retail games currently released, more games announced that aren't indie, more 3rd party exclusives currently released, more indie exclusives currently released, more 1st party exclusives currently released, more 1st party exclusives currently announced, and more studios than MS even has in their whole arsenal making AAA games that we have no idea about yet, yet we know every single one of them are working on PS4 games. The, "it's all Indie" excuse isn't true, and never has been.

On top of that, who is talking about those games coming out on MS platforms shown at the MS conference? From what I can tell, most of the game news from MS is centered around TR, and it hasn't been positive. Where's the talk about Ori or ScreamRide or FH2 or QB? That's right, buried in a ton of TR articles, most of which aren't even relevant anymore.

ltachiUchiha3958d ago

MrSwankSinatra

And what happened last time when Kojima announced MGS coming to XB consoles & was HUGE hit on the net & the game comes out & u guys didn't even go out & support it & sales bombed on all XB consoles. Dont be surprised if u see Silent Hill stay exclusive to ps4 especially with 10 million ps4's sold. I did not hear of an XB1 version release yet.

Sony Conference- New Gamesssss Galoooore/SilentHills T.P.(that we actually it to play which was freaking awesome)/Shareplayupdate/indie Support

MS Conference- everything we've seen before except for the indie games and QB gameolay HaloChannel and only major talking Point was the TOMBR exclusive deal annnnnnnnnnd only reason it was the talking point was because of the confusion MS caused by not clarifying that it was a Timed Exclusive that doesn't equal winning a conference that's like saying MS won E32013 because of the DRM controversy.

Soooooooo with your Logic MS will Always win A Conference if they leave everyone confused okie dokie

Dewitt3958d ago

What a bias account of the conferences don't do anymore reviews.

GTgamer3958d ago

@Dewitt please give your unbiased review

rainslacker3957d ago

To be fair, many people said Sony won E3 2013 due to the way they handled the DRM controversy themselves. They even slipped in payed multi-player without anyone really batting an eye.

I believe personally that MS had a better showing, but failed because they didn't address the elephant in the room. Sony had a decent showing, a bit dry, but finished to thunderous applause.

Anyhow, who won what is a rather pointless debate. It's OK to discuss if you manage to find objective people to discuss it, the pros and cons and what not, but typically who won for any fan boy is always going to be the conference for their console of choice.

Rimeskeem3958d ago

What about Tomb Raider?

It's not even an actual exclusive.

Revengeance3958d ago (Edited 3958d ago )

Strongly disagree. Sony showed a bunch of new games. MS only showed games we already knew about. The only thing they had going for them is the TR announcement which will be a timed exclusive. Sony killed MS at Gamescom

Golden_Mud3957d ago

actually they did showcase ScreamRide , a new AAA game.

SuperBlur3958d ago

WiLD blew any announcement made at Gamescom

MysticStrummer3958d ago (Edited 3958d ago )

@Sinatra - Do you even know what the terms "indie" and "AAA" mean? Neither one has anything to do with the quality of the game.

How many crappy "AAA" titles have to release before this myth that "AAA" = Better dies?

Meanwhile indies were legit GotY candidates more than once last generation.

The momentum is changing for XB1? You may need a refresher course in math. We're more than halfway through August, and most XB1 sales still happened in 2013.

kenshiro1003957d ago (Edited 3957d ago )

Oh my. :)

TGS right around the corner too. The Sony train doesn't stop. So many unannounced 1st party titles from GG, Santa Monica, Sony London, Sony Bend, Polyphony Digital, Quantic Dream...

They're working on two big Sony Japan games, one of which is an RPG (that isn't Bloodborne).

Benjammin253958d ago

Sony at Gamescom were incredible. Hell, that Silent Hills announcement alone won it for them. PS4 is a killer console and it's only going to get better from here.

keabrown793958d ago

So, maybe all the vita coverage?

colonel1793958d ago

I lost any hope that they'll make games for Vita. I actually bought it for Remote Play mainly.

The only game that I want is Gravity Rush 2, and even that one, could be made for PS4.

StormLegend3958d ago

I hope Gravity Rush releases on PS4 and Vita.

chrisarsenalsavart3958d ago

My vita is also mainly used for remote play and few ps+ games .if Sony could make the next xperiaZ compatible with psvita that could change everything. With pstv and psnow, developers would be more willing to take some risks if they knew their games would be available on many more platforms.

KonsoruMasuta3958d ago (Edited 3958d ago )

And somewhere outside the room, standing in the rain, there is a lone Vita watching as Sony and the PS4 snuggle up by a cozy fire.

"Why doesn't he love me like that?", says the Vita to himself as a tear rolls down his face.
